We ordered double smashburgers and I got the extra topping Grilled Jalapeño peppers which is only $1.50 so why not. Onion rings to share got the nod but they also have sweet potato fries of course. Service at the order counter was pleasant and helpful. I ordered the usual for me a double smash instead of single. But this double was epic. Massive and full of flavour. The crunchy jalapeños was great. Pickles popped in my mouth. I mumbled when ordering and we only got one burger instead of two. When they heard that they comped the other burger, extra fries and extra pops. Wow impressive service! I ended up ordering a vanilla shake with sprinkles for $7.95 cuz again, why not? We ate in their spacious dining area c/w two screens which has diner vibes. Highly recommended!!

Coffee was your typical underwhelming breakfast joint type. Advised by server that first round of eggs, didn't quite make the cut.. so I waited a couple extra minutes, and they eggs where beautifully runny. Hollandaise was ok, not too salty or runny. Just missing that extra something in flavour. The star of this dish is absolutely the massive thickness of the peameal bacon. Homefries, deep fried, adequate not special or fantastic. I asked for hot sauce, and sadly Franks is their go to. Better than Tabasco but in my opinion it's a touch basic and better options exist. This place clearly has the signs of consistency to make something amazing. Almost $3.50 for a coffee is obscene. $19.00 for the benny is a bit too much. Flavour ok, but the cost was pretty outrageous. Chop 10% off the price which is still a decent price point for them, shave the size of the peameal bacon a touch and add more flavour you'd have great value and great food.

My last visit was rather bothersome. Having lunch with a client, I ordered the fish and a Greek salad. Salad was what it was, yet the fish didn't have its usual crisp and flavour. As I was peeling the batter off my halibut, the server asked me what the issue was. I politely explained, nothing was corrected, and to my surprise the cook came out and started blasting me while praising it's consistency and appeal. Instead of making it an issue here or on social media, I attempted to take up the matter with the owner. The owner accused me of previous complaints. 1. Which was a suggestion of a better hot sauce 2. A visit where an order of eggs Benedict which was not soft, but cooked above medium. Simply asked for it to be cooked as asked. 3. And we'll my last visit. The email closed off by finishing on the unfortunate side of words I would never use (edited for swears) 'As for you calling my staff a B**** this is unacceptable and I will not allow this to happen again. I feel for your client, having to see you lowering yourself to this level. Hopefully you are not in the customer service field.' An unexpected response lacking tact and resolve. When I would never utter words like that to someone I don't know, especially in public.

I've been up in this area a few times for various reasons and the last couple was for driving test candidates. One was my son... he finally wanted to get his G2 before time ran out. Dropped him off and walked on over for breakfast. Crossed my fingers too - not so he passes his test, but so he doesn't damage the Merc! LOL! Williams is a nice change from the Mermaid brand of places that dots every major corner and mall back in the GTA. Step inside and it's a proper dining facility and one that is not filled with hipsters that thinks buying a Venti Latte pays rent for their arse to be planted for the whole day on a table. Dropped my stuff off at a comfy table and ordered up breakfast. Haven't had a breakfast like this in a long while - just your standard good old cholesterol rich American Classic! HeHeHe... Yup, eggs, bacon, and toast - with a good cup of coffee. The place was clean, nicely decorated, the staff was ultra friendly. They brought my order to the table and even brought condiments when I asked for it. Good Service... something that is missing over the pandemic and at the Mermaid club. The server was super understanding and kind enough to accommodate our group, even with one of us arriving late thanks to traffic and all the freezing rain going on. That, plus the laid-back vibe of the place, made it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal. We shared Fried Dills and Porky Poutine to start. I went for the Brie & Fig Burger with onion rings. What I really liked here is how creative the burger menu is. Everything sounded a little quirky in the best way, and honestly, I wanted to try almost all of them. Wish I had more stomachs. The portion sizes were generous too, which made the ride back to Toronto feel extra worth it. They've also got a nice variety of options for people with dietary restrictions, which I always think is worth pointing out. While I felt the food could be polished just slightly in a few spots, that's being picky. Overall quality was solid, and when you pair that with the kind of thoughtful service we got, it just made everything come together. Usually I'm a bit cautious about places that try to do too much, but this one actually pulls it off in a way that feels intentional and fun. Just really glad I had the chance to check it out. Definitely one of those spots I'd return to without hesitation.
