Really bland, salad bar was a nightmare. Service was ok but just move on and something better will probably come up.

The staff was friendly. £20 Fish & Chips was great and perhaps the very best Fish & Chips of my entire UK adventure. The fish was thickly battered, hot and crispy...the chips were fantastic...and the minty mushy peas redefined my love for this very unloved side dish, delicious! £19 Steak Pie with mash potatoes and vegetables was rich, hearty, and delicious.

A local saw us roaming the streets with their heads down in our phone, searching for places to eat. He was so nice and recommended a few places. I actually recommend this place. He even walked us to the restaurant. That's our surprise. He used to even live in Fort Lauderdale once upon a time, but it's been he's been living in Windsor city for a few years now he seems so happy and upbeat. We arrived to the place. There was really not a lot of people there we sat down wherever we liked, and the server greeted us and took our order. I ordered the fish and chips with the Minty peas, I felt like the fish needed more seasoning in my opinion, and I wasn't a huge big fan of the minty peas. My grandmother had a balmoral chicken entree which she enjoyed. The plates were huge and filling. They played music like 90s rock and some Bob Marley. The place was pretty chill with locals at the bar. They did had a dog in there which was cute but also not too cute when it got too close to your food so we had to tell the owner to get their dog

Absolutely delicious!…read more The food here is excellent, and the menu has a lot of options to choose from. We came early in the morning, and there were only a couple of other diners eating when we walked in. We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken. There was only one server, and he didn't come back with my coffee, or take our food order for ages. I admit, I was very frustrated with the long wait, and mumbled under my breath about how long it took to make a coffee. Unbeknownst to me, the server was right behind me and heard my remark... needless to say, service was prompt and efficient after that! I ordered the Plant Plate and was absolutely blown away at the huge portions, also how delicious everything was. I'm American, and my spouse is British, so I always thought it was strange to watch him eat baked beans for breakfast over the years... but surprisingly, it's pretty good and I'd definitely have it again. My spouse had the Pancake Stack with fresh fruit and really enjoyed his as well. The dining room is bright, airy, comfortable, and clean. The toilets are clean as well. Overall, the food was excellent, reasonably priced, and a great value for the huge portions and fresh, delicious food you get to enjoy. Highly Recommended!

The previous 24 hours had not been a celebration of lodging or dining so by the time I hiked into town via the Thames River Path I was looking to treat myself. A simple pub wasn't the answer and until I saw it, I didn't know that Gilbey's was just what I needed. With several large parties going on in other parts of the restaurant it was easy, from my sunny window seat, to see why people would host parties here. Everything about the place felt upscale and special. I splurged on a Flat Iron Steak (good) and sampled Gilbey's rendition of Fish & Chips (excellent). The food was tasty and beautifully presented but it was really the whole of the place that made it sing for me. It even annoyed me when someone wandered out from their party and set an empty cocktail glass beside an attractive floral arrangement before departing. I wanted Gilbey's to be as pristine as it was before she did that and pointed it out to our server for removal. Gilbey's is a great place to splurge a bit in an environment that practically demands a cocktail and a couple of hours. When I told my server how much I enjoyed it here she inquired where in town I was staying. "Next time stay here" she winked. Gilbey's has a small number of absolutely lovely rooms to lodge in. If you find yourself in Eton you might as well splurge. Lunch, dinner, or drinks at Gilbey's and perhaps a room above will nicely meet that requirement.

The best in all of London. Elegantly presented and well priced. Their mushroom risotto was also to die for. Desserts are also quite sinful but do indulge. When we arrived, we were sat on the patio, but not near the views despite being the only ones out there. We quickly ordered drinks, and then food not long after. From the time we were sat, to when our food finally came out, it had been over an hour. I know we had a larger group, but the waitress never came back to check on our drink or offer any insight on the wait. We had to seek it out ourselves. We were also being tormented by wasps, one of which we caught in a cup to stop it from bothering us. We saw people seated after us get their food before us. We even saw a couple sit down, wait for ages for service, and leave before ever ordering drinks. Once the food finally came, it was bland. My fish and chips were flavorless. Others at the table complained of food being either boiling hot or lukewarm. The little chocolate mint they bring you with the check was the best part. Someone in our group asked for an extra mint on the way out and they initially told her no. Overall, terrible experience. Made us late to the next thing on our itinerary and we didn't even enjoy the food.

I have never been treated so rudely in my life. The place was nearly empty when I went for dinner. Despite that a young male server looked around the empty room, looked at me and then sat me in a hidden corner at a tiny table that was clearly not meant to be for customers. After about half an hour I eventually got up and asked a bartender if I could put an order in. She was confused because she had no idea I was there. She confronted the jerk that put me at that table for not telling her that he sat a customer, and for purposely putting me at a bad table for no reason. He started laughing and gloating that he could get away with what ever he wanted and that he didn't care about her feelings or his job at all before he walked away. She felt bad but still didn't do anything to improve the situation. I wonder if he is related to the owner because he clearly didn't want to work, or even be a good person. After all of this happened the service was still practically non existent and I still payed the full tab even though I was treated horribly. I will never go back here. Ambience: The pictures online look great but the reality looks run down and on the verge of a mold outbreak.
