""What do you want me to do when you come here...kiss your hand?" This was the rude parting words of the chef/owner today...I will explain.
My family of 5 arrived at the restaurant for lunch today; we were the only table in the restaurant and when given the menus, I asked for the set menu they always advertise outside on the board which is 2 courses for £10. He just said no, he had brought the restaurant in March 2012 and that offer hadn't' been available. I know he was lying as a) my parents dined there 2 weeks ago and b) the Board advertising the offer was out last week. I tried to explain this but he embarrassed me by saying "When you've stopped interrupting me, I am trying to tell you I can't make any money from that offer, here are the a la carte menus, how am I supposed to make any money". And then stormed off.
I thought that was incredibly rude and we decided to leave.......and the owners response...."fine go, if you want cheap £5 food, go to Windsor". I said it wasn't the money, we were happy to pay a la carte prices, it was his attitude. It was then he said"What do you want me to do when you come here...kiss your hand?" How rude!
What a shame when trying to support your local business and recession or no recession, restaurants should be charming customers, not turning them away.
I am local and will not ever go there or recommend the restaurant again. And to be honest, for better pasta/pizza dishes, go to Puntos in Old Windsor, they know how to look after you there.
Please avoid.
