5 star!! We have been here twice and their food is amazing... Beet salad ( add grilled salmon to top) amazing!! My fav And ... they have Carpaccio ... need to request a side of baguettes sliced to enjoy this to its fullest! Service can be a bit slow BUT I choose to believe it's because time is taken with each FRESH DISH and enjoy a cocktail or glass of vine and enjoy some relaxed conversation! They have jazz and music some nights.. we saw Danny McGrew and his jazz band one night!!! Amazing This is a favorite spot of ours!! Enjoy

This time we got Prime Rib cooked to perfection, Chilean sea bass with pickled okra spicy but not too spicy, filet perfect cooked to perfection as well--service professional and knowledgeable and great atmosphere for adults.

I was able to make a reservation for a bigger party and the tables were ready for us when we arrived. Easy parking as well. I couldn't decide on what to get but we started with deviled eggs. I got crab cake, shared the fish special with my friend, and also ordered the Brussels. The Brussels was done in a soy sauce and they are delicious. I liked the crispy bacon on top of the deviled egg. Good flavor that. The crab cake was also delicious. everyone I was with loved their food. And it's a nice atmosphere and the server and hostess were all very friendly.

From mama, but this is an example of what we were able to get from harvest!

Went here this evening for a date night. Made reservations through Resy, came in and were greeted nicely by the host. We were sat immediately. Greeted fairly promptly by our server with a carafe of water. Our server never returned. My girlfriend and I made a game of seeing if we could catch his (or anyone's) eye. No luck. I'm in the industry (she is as well) and it seemed he had maybe one other table. This place was not full. That one table looked like they got great service though! At the thirty minute mark we called it, finished our carafe of water, and left. No one noticed. We were laughing at this point -- I'm over 6.5 feet tall and very noticeable. We went to Nama about 100 yards away and our server has been to the table twice, and we have ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate getting to eat soon!

Came here for our anniversary on Cinco de Mayo. Best day to eat out anywhere besides Mexican. We are outside on the nice patio. I had the rose and my boyfriend got a bottle of red wine. They have a deal where you can choose red or white and it cost maybe $18 but they choose the bottle. Pretty good deal if you aren't a picky wine drinker. I ordered the fish. It was good but nothing special. The bed of rice it was in was a little spicy and reminds me of a authentic Mexican rice. My boyfriend had the ribeye and he loved it. We finished with my favorite part of the meal the caramel cake. Highly recommend. So sweet and soft with the perfect amount of caramel icing.

Cocktails were well done and the wine pairings recommended astute. Nothing to complain about except some of the items were cold - there was one person serving the entire bar and restaurant and obviously had some timing issues. Also some attitude: after delivering cocktails to my wife and me he forgot her mom's - after I reminded him he said "oh I know" and then proceeded to serve four other patrons' order at the bar and then another two top's before even starting hers. It finally arrived after the cold mushrooms were delivered. I'm chalking this up to a short staffed situation and a specific individual, so if you live nearby or are traveling through looking for a nice spot for dinner or lunch I would definitely recommend. The environment is also very pleasant with a nice bar and dining room of high top tables.

For salads, we had the Local Kale Caesar and Farmers Market Salad, which were both well-balanced and fresh. For entrées, we ordered the Border Springs Farm lamb and American Wagyu butcher's cut steak. Both were cooked perfectly to medium-rare--tender, rich, and full of flavor. Dessert was just as impressive, with a chocolate pecan cake and an Italian sponge cake with bright strawberry and basil notes. I asked the hostess at the time about the possibility for vegan options and she went over the menu with me and talked about how menu items could be adjusted for my needs. Fast forward to making reservations tonight. I believe the menu had changed, but there still should have been some way to take things that were in the kitchen and make something that wasn't just "plain vegetables" for a couple of vegans. We ended up with plain French fries, boiled peanuts, kale salad that was literally "just kale" to make it vegan, "loaded roast potatoes" that were just "roasted potatoes" and a vegetable main dish that was basically a charcuterie board with some pea hummus with some roasted veggies on it. We mentioned to the server that the pile of kale that was provided to us could have been augmented by some other items in the kitchen instead of just a plate of shredded kale placed before us. Fortunately, I travel with my own salad dressing based on low expectations so we were able to down said "shredded kale plate". During the interaction she told us that there are people that "just like to eat lettuce". We are not such said people and I don't personally know of any people like that. The evening was pleasant. We witnessed what appeared to be the manager going around the bar and interacting with other customers in the bar while we had a pre-dinner drink there. We had hopes that he might come over to our table, or the server, who was new, might send him our way, so we could provide this feedback to him. But, that didn't happen and we're not the types to ask "to speak to the manager" so here we are. I also realize that this is Knoxville, and not the most vegan-friendly City in the world. But for a restaurant of this caliber, I had higher expectations. I realize this is a meat-centric restaurant, but I had higher expectations after my "drinks only scouting session" where I asked all my questions. Reality did not meet expectations.

I would never come here if I was in a hurry, but if you have 2+ hours to eat and want good food in a storied place with staff who will treat you like friends, you're going to love the Rampant Lion. NOTES: -In rural TN, it should not surprise you, but be aware that they have Trump displays in the restaurant. -The restrooms are single stall and accessed from outdoor. They're indoor restrooms - just the door to access them is on the outside. (No porta potties) They're solidly clean - just make sure to pack clothing that works for the temperature outside because you might be dipping outside a few times. -Parking lot is small and gravel. Relatively easy to get in and out of though. -Amazing gin selection with staff that *clearly* knows their gins. -Adorable photos of the owners on slideshow of their trip to Europe on the wall. It's adorably and clearly a couple who was on a good vacation. We've had a good chunk of their menu at this point. Pretzels: Delicious beer chese AND delicious pretzels. Quite a bit of food with this too. Bread, Oil, & Vinegar: Wasn't super fond of this one. A ton of oil in a bowl made it hard to get the right oil-to-vinegar ratio. Chicken Pie: Deliciously breaded with super-tasty french fries too. Served piping hot, so it took a bit to be able to eat it without burning myself but a wait well-made. Reuben: Partner absolutely loved it and said the bread was the absolute perfect consistency. SO much meat in there too (though he said it could use a bit of extra dressing). Bubbles and Squeak: Delicious. Just delicious. Zero notes, you should eat it. Beanie Weenies: Home-made right in the restaurant! My favorite thing on the menu. Super savory, semi-healthy (beans...at least?), and served super warm. Comfort food at its finest. Menu in-restaurant was different than online one on a few things.

It was more packed than I had ever seen (I'm guessing due to the holiday). We got there and were told 35-45 minutes and given a beeper. We went to sit in the car since there wasn't really anywhere else to sit. Working five minutes of getting to the car the beeper went off so we shut the car off, got out, locked it and went through parking to the front hostess area. They looked at the beeper and the list and told us they made a mistake so back to the car we went. About 30 minutes later the beeper went off and we were seated near the bar in the last booth by where everyone goes in and out of the bar. Or waited came out and took our drink order and my son had noticed the shark bite cocktail so we asked if they could make a virgin drink. It was horrible. So sweet he couldn't drink it at all. I tried it and agreed. It tasted like a slightly tart sugar water. We didn't complain because we did ask for the drink. Then we ordered our meals. My son got the Gator plate with fries which was perfect and he loves. I ordered 1 1/2 lbs of snow crab legs in a garlic butter sauce (which amounts to 3 clusters). It came with three sides since I ordered an extra half pound. Potatoes, corn and sausage. The seafood bread was amazing! If you go make sure to try it!!! Our meals were brought out. As I mentioned my sons was perfect. I noticed mine wasn't as hot as usual and figured as busy as they were it sat for a bit longer before being brought to the table. I've been eating crab all my life so I'm not new to how to eat it or remove the shells to get to the meat. As I carefully tried to snap the shells, they weren't breaking as they should and there was no getting any meat at all from the first two smaller sections. In the larger sections they wouldn't crack. Tried to use the metal crackers but it just squished it. I used the plastic tool which didn't work ands then used the metal fork. The meat wouldn't come out. It was completely stuck to the inside of the shell where I had to scrape it out with my fingernails. The claws were just add bad. I still kept trying while waiting on the waitress. When she got there I asked how they were cooked and she told me boiled in extremely hot water with fire. I told her what was going on so she went and got gloves and started trying to break my crab open. She wasn't able to get them out either so she went and told the manager. By that time I was done messing with them. He came over and I again explained what was going on. He offered me more cream or a discount. I should've taken the crab and brought them home but I chose the discount. I bagged up the two clusters to bring home to attempt to finish cooking them in hopes they'd be edible. When I got the bill, $7.00 was talked off for over $55 of crab. I felt extremely insulted. That didn't even cover my son's horrible drink but was supposed to make my Mother's Day meal better? We really loved this place but now I don't know if I'll go back. I'm not one of those people that complains all the time. I'm pretty sure if my husband was with me we wouldn't have gotten treated like that. Just an update, I steamed the legs and they came out perfect! I wish I had brought the rest home and just did it myself but since I paid for cooked crab legs I figured that's what I was going to get.
