It appeared the rest of the single seats were taken. After an hour I see my phone charge running low. I find no outlet at all. Every other seat has one except this one. I realize I cannot put my legs out under the seat in front of me. This is a sort of Exit seat But with No Signage at all. I go speak with the driver who tells me there "should be one around the seat or sides". Doesnt know about an exit door or why this seat didnt have it. In the meantime I'm very Stressed watching my power dying ..... I managed to get my phone on briefly enough to tell my husband I'd be an hour late. Now its 2:30. Very upsetting...Nearly cried to the nice woman inside the Terminal office in Hanover. She says to leave my name # + all the info which I did. My husband finds me...Next this very tall man who doesnt introduce himself or what he's there for - starts showing me photos on his phone that shows me the seat I sat in could have used a power outlet behind me? There's No sign posted + neither did the Driver know. Never an apology - not the Least bit of understanding from this man Nothing! Then he says next time I should get to the bus sooner to get a better seat!!!! Never in all my years have I had this level of Disservice anywhere. There are other ways to commute. Our 2 night stay at the Jackson was not as expected. First off there is NO breakfast provided…read more There is a complimentary coffee machine in a common room and that is it. Based on reviews and their webpage, I was under the impression that breakfast was provided but it was not. You can buy breakfast in the restaurant but it is expensive. The weirdest part of the stay was that there is no host to check guests in or help with issues. It is completely virtual! You press the button on a doorbell camera and someone answers after like 5 min. I had to press it several times to get a response at 10 am in the day of my checkout. The response was the staff doesn't show up until 11 am; which is the checkout time. There is a text number but the person or AI agent on the other end clearly is not the innkeeper or anyone capable of making decisions. They/It provided faulty information and was the opposite of helpful. If this is what the future of hospitality looks like, I am not impressed. My family rented two rooms on the first floor. One room facing the back of the property was nice but the other one (#15) was very small and had two windows overlooking the front porch and yard. Unfortunately there are chairs just outside of the windows and someone kept sitting in one of them and talking on her phone. It was very uncomfortable to have the shades open and have someone sitting right there. Because of this we had to keep the curtains drawn and with the room being so small, it felt like we were in a cave. Basically, it sounds like staying at the Jackson used to be a very nice experience but new owners/management are now trying to run the hotel as cheaply as possible. Guests are noticing.

When you arrive, there is a board on the left side of the house that has the required information for contactless check-in information which was uncomplicated. Our room - the gala - had a much bigger bed than expected which was awesome as well as a spa tub, and gas fireplace. About $550 for two night stay which is very competitive for the area. Within walking distance to many attractions and shopping. Clean and the communal areas were very cute and matched online pictures exactly. My only qualm is that this is a very old house and you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms which was very unpleasant especially if you are in a downstairs room. Floors creaking, beds squeaking, music, conversations, etc. I would recommend bringing headphones and not coming here with children unless you can rent all the rooms for your group or you might have some explaining to do in regards to the sounds coming from other rooms... This is my first BnB experience so maybe this is the norm but I was not prepared for it. As far as I can tell there aren't any enforced quiet hours here. Shampoo/conditioner provided - no body soap. Hairdryer, iron, and hangers available in room. Extra blankets in room. Fridge available for guest storage. Ability to use microwave in kitchen. Parking lot in the back, parking included in stay. WiFi available, but NOT reliable for zoom at least in the room I was staying in. Suggest Farmer and the Bell for wifi for work. Thermostat/heater available. Host reachable via text. Enjoyable breakfast from 8-9am, the same every morning - see picture: oatmeal, yogurt, pumpkin bread and coffee cake, coffee/tea/water Books available in our room - also local free library at Mon Vert if you need something to read! Oddly no place to leave a review besides here

Do you love buses? Do you love friendly cats and dogs? Do you love climbing? Do you love clean,…read morechill, cozy places with kind and welcoming people? If so, Barn Door is the place for you! And honestly, even if you like none of those things you should check this hostel out because it is affordable and extremely pleasant as a place to lay your head when you're exploring the White Mountains National Forest. That said, Rumney is the spot for outdoor rock climbing and Dave, Liam, Allison and the rest of the staff at Barn Door live the life. They have tons of info from the extensive library and maps, to rental gear and tips for good places in the area. As far as lodging, there's outdoor camping with a solar electricity charge port and water refill station, as well as an outdoor shower. You can take a bed or private room with up to 4 beds in the hostel itself. Or, do the bus! The bus is basically car camping with a massive upgrade. From the parking area you follow a winding path up to the clearing with an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, picnic table, compost toilet, and, voila, a bus with 2 cozy beds, an upper deck, a sink with potable water, and a stove to keep you warm. There was also a coffee pot and lovely local coffee in locally made mugs. The bus has plenty of ventilation but also closes up tight so we never felt too hot or cold. There was plenty of room for all our stuff and we slept very well on the beds. The upper level bed had pillows, sheets and a duvet. Lower level was a bed created from two bus benches and we probably would have been able to make up a bed but just used sleeping bags. You access the upper level via ladder and unless you're tall and limber, it's a bit athletic going up and down. But it's sure as hell really fun! In the evening, there are lights along the path to the bus and it is honestly just magical walking through the woods and over the bridge. We loved our stay and look forward to returning. The staff were so nice and we loved chatting with them and hanging out with their friendly pets. The inside of the hostel was immaculate, including the bright, clean, well ventilated showers and toilets. Thank you for a great climbing vacation!
