Awesome hostel to stay for outdoor activities. The crowd, the vibe, and the place is so awesome! I came here for outdoors climbing and this Hostel was very close to the climbing place. It was just 10 minutes of driving. Very close. In addition, the price is so cheap. It is just $22/night. You won't be able to find this awesome deal anywhere else The facilities (bathroom, kitchen, parking space, and other) + the wifi was perfect I would definitely suggest you to stay at this place if you are in Rumney for climbing :)

Last July I went to Rumney to climb for a few days while visiting Rhode Island. While looking at places to stay, I saw this new hostel opened up that was still being worked on, but I thought, hey, why not? It was an awesome choice! The bathrooms/showers in this hostel were better than some I've used in hotels. The sleeping areas were very spacious for a hostel and there was also an area where hammocks could set up inside. We had a fire one night in the open field, spent time with people from all over, and saw the beautiful moon. This really made our experience of Rumney 5 times better, getting all the good beta from folks around and the employees at the Hostel. When we go back, we will be staying here again, no doubt in my mind! Note: My photos are a bit dated, so I've only uploaded a few key ones.

Barn Door Hostel is a great place to stay if you're camping in the area. Everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly. Their newly refurbished indoor hostel is $20 a night and has a great communal area with bathrooms and showers. The beer fridge has a bring a beer take a beer policy, so if you're interested in trying some new beers, make sure you to donate! Separately, the outdoor camping area is $10 and has fire pits with fire wood and compost toilets. when I visited they were working on adding a solar powered outdoor shower, but there's also a river nearby to swim in. I'd highly recommend this if you're looking for a fun place to stay!

My favorite campground in New Hampshire! This is the place to get away from RVs and trailers and…read moreloud noises. OK there are a few spots for groups and you could probably get an RV and trailer up there, but I have yet to see it. The campsites here all have the basics for tent camping: picnic table, fire pit/grill, peace and quiet. Most of the sites are spaced far apart so that you don't turn your head and make eye contact with a neighbor. Some of them are almost completely isolated, and a few have lean-tos (you're near the Appalachian Trail after all). The fire pits are kind of annoying though, they're basically three-sided iron boxes with sliding grates on top. You'll stay warm and can easily cook on them, but not everyone is going to have a great view of the fire. There is garbage on site, pit toilets, potable water, and lots of hiking nearby. In fact, the hiking is probably one of the biggest draws. You could get a spot here and then hike to one of the other campgrounds in the national forest (those are obviously hike-in only), or just spend a few hours in the forest. We saw lots of moose droppings, but no moose. Maybe your luck will be better than mine. The river is nearby and there are several parks and access points to get to it. I saw quite a few people fly fishing last time I was here. You've got to drive to Maine to get here, and then head about 5 miles along a dirt road to cross back into NH. Stock up in nearby Gorham and bring plenty of firewood. You'll want to stay at least two nights, and you'll definitely want to come back.

R-sites are small and going down hill in to the river/ stream. No privacy between sites. These site are below the top of the hill, camping on a slope. Most fire pits are at the edge of the site under the trees branches, not on flat land looking like it is going to fall and go into the river/stream. Quiet time is at 1030pm. This actually means silent time, lights out and go to bed. Can not sit around fire pit and talk. Booked 3 nights with family only stayed one night. Kind of exciting driving up and seeing a couple old campers set up like it was part of a theme park. Getting toward the office the road splits into a nice paved 3 lane rd. Excellent if there a few people checking in. The office is well presented, and an arcade next to it is a pristine 200 yr old barn. The roads were well maintained as it turned to dirt and gravel. No rain made potholes a very nice drive. The sites as we drove by were awesome. This place has great large deep private sites, angled very well for easy docking. The site we had 210 was a damn good site. Not far walking distance from office pool and other amenities. Trees were nice and solid and it was large enough for us to do extra. The fire pits were awesome, all large stones with others built up.. excellent on that one moosehillock. Everyone walking by had great attitudes, excellent vibes. Well except that one dude looked at me walking by jealous of my blackstone. Cons to get through quick cause we didn't have much. At $12 a bundle for wood, little steep usually paying $4-6 at other campgrounds. BUT!!!!! you can bring your NH born wood from wherever so that's a plus. No cell service but wifi if you are down around the office. By the way I met a camp worker David who was very professional and helped with every question and matter we had. 100 acres, over 500 sites to stay at rv cabins tents. This is a great place. We plan to go back next summer in season to check out the pool and other accommodations. Recommended for now. Update next season.

Everything is an up charge. There is no water view in sight despite every photo of the cabins showing water. Absolutely NOT worth $1,044 for 2 nights. We camp 15-20 times a year (both tent and cabin) and love the outdoors, but that isn't at all what this is. So sad to have been deceived by their posts. I hope you can save yourself the disappointment. Update- Well over a year after my initial post, Boris, the business owner, finally responded. It is disappointing that after such a long delay, the choice was made to imply I simply didn't "thoroughly review" their photos. Claiming "transparency" while marketing every single cabin with a water view--when in reality, my $1,044 stay consisted of a small cabin on wheels sandwiched between parked cars with zero privacy--is the definition of misleading. Labeling a cramped, overcrowded layout as "community-focused" doesn't change the fact that the actual experience does not align with the curated, secluded aesthetic advertised. My issue isn't a misunderstanding of "glamping"; it's a rejection of being overcharged for a misrepresented experience. Instead of discrediting guests who have spent significant money at your business, I hope you use this feedback to provide more honest marketing. I'll continue to support reputable spots that value transparency over defensive excuses.
