Every single other venue in the area charges by the hour, or offers packages that give you six hours start to finish. We opted for the full package (when we paid it was $2500). No nickle and diming, no having to clean up after your own wedding, linens, tables, tents, everything included. We had all day on our wedding day (August 15, 2015), and because it was open, were given access all day the Friday before. Jamie and his wife were quick to give us great answers and do anything they could to help beforehand. Jamie worked really hard before, during, and at the end to make sure it went smoothly. At one point, when I was exhausted and stressed (my chef disappeared and I--with the help of family I hated asking to help--had to cook all the food), he sat down next to me and calmed me completely. This is the thing about this venue--they love what they do for a living, and haven't forgotten how important your wedding is to you. As I looked at all the leftover food at the end I felt bad, and found out it was being donated to a nearby group home--just an example of how positive you'll feel about everything here. I was thrilled today, one month after the event, to find that 100% of my deposit had been refunded. I'm sure you all know how many businesses of all types try to find a way to eat that up. Not here. If you want super posh, maybe this isn't your venue. If you are someone who is not spending 30K or more on a wedding like that one you've seen on TV, this place is fantastic. Loads of lovely outdoor space with multiple tents available, we had plenty of room for tables, a band and dancing inside as well. You will never find a venue owned by nicer, more sincerely helpful folks, I assure you.

I wanted to allow our friends and family time to talk about the meaningful times that we were lucky enough to spend with a man that meant so much to so many. Since I live in Portland, I knew it would be challenging to find a space online. I grew up in Olympia, and it has changed a lot. I found somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 possibilities. When I stumbled across the website for the Abigail Stuart House, it just felt right. I called Carolyn, who rents the house and found out that it was available for the 26th when I needed it. We scheduled a tour for the Friday prior. Perfect. The rental included tables, chairs, a very roomy full kitchen with all kinds of serving trays and cooking utensils, an oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Most places didn't have such a full set up. For the most part things have to be rented separately. The only thing we needed to provide were tablecloths. Easy. Since it's an historic property it has a lot of charm. High ceilings, hardwood floors, a foyer with space to hang coats, a parlor with comfortable sofas and cushy chairs. The parlor also has a baby grand piano, and gas fireplace. There is a bathroom on the main floor, as well as a men's and women's restroom upstairs. There is room to accommodate up to 150 in the main room. Plenty of space for everyone. Carolyn gave me the tour, and I paid on the spot. They only charge $400 all inclusive for the full day and night, with a $250 refundable deposit. You don't even have to clean. We only needed to put away the tables and chairs, and place anything from the kitchen that we used in the dishwasher before we left. It wasn't rented Saturday, so she was kind enough offer it to me for an additional $100 so that I could set up beforehand. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to do so. I don't think you can find such an affordable deal anywhere! They're incredibly easy to work with. It's centrally located downtown, and has a parking lot to accommodate 22 cars. There is also ample street parking. It would be ideal for wedding receptions, reunions, or about anything else you might need. I was able to pick up my full deposit the following Tuesday morning. I can't recommend them highly enough. Take a look at their website, and see for yourself. The money from the rental also benefits many local charities, as an added bonus.

The fairgrounds are small, but larger than I thought it actually was when I realized there are a lot of buildings onsite. I think the best way to experience this place will be in the summer when the sun is shining and there's an actual fair here. But from what I saw, the facilities are clean, but I don't know what they do about parking because that lot is tiny compared to how many vendors and customers you can service when there's a full event. Now that I know about the fairgrounds, I'll be looking for events that take place in the summer and fall, because in spite of the small parking lot, it looks charming.

It's pretty small and most of the rides are kid friendly. If you're someone who's really into rides, the puyallup fair has the most to offer and I believe the prices are really similar. Parking is also $5. I recommend eating a little before you come or bring your own food because food at fairs can get really expensive.

Hubby and I are VERY into wine and we both thoroughly enjoyed our tastings. Toni even convinced me to try their Chardonnay, even though I typically don't like Chardonnay. Great recommendation! It was fruit forward and not heavily oaked. I even ended up buying a bottle. We bought several wines that day, including their sparkling. So good! We enjoyed ourselves so much on Saturday, that we came back on Sunday! Toni remembered our names, and our pup's name too! I have to say, Toni is one of the most fun and personable hosts we've met at a wine tasting room. We've visited wineries all across the west coast and abroad, and many tasting room employees will just pour you a small taste, give you their short spiel about the wine, and move on. But Toni gave us an amazing and personalized experience. There were several groups tasting on Saturday and you could tell how Toni brought energy to the vibe and we were all having a great time.
