We met with Ashley several times prior to the wedding. Ashley, my wife and I all "clicked" from the moment we met over Facetime. While we were considering several very skilled photographers, we went with Moments and Mountains because we thought we'd have the most fun with Ashley. We were right. We had our engagement session at Powell's Books in Portland, Oregon, on a busy Friday evening. In the photos, it looks as if we had the entire bookstore to ourselves. I am an extremely awkward person who is uncomfortable with public displays of affection, and I tire quickly from being on camera. With Ashley as our photographer, we forgot we were on film and just had fun throughout. After the engagement session, Ashley helped us plan, create a timeline for both a rainy day and sunny weather, and prepare for the big day. Additionally, Ashley found a "second shooter," who was equally skilled in her photography craft (THANK YOU COURTNEY!) On the wedding day, Ashley was the stalwart to our mental health, helped keep folks on time and organized, and captured the perfect moments. She made sure we had every special photo we asked for, went through our family formal list with a fine-toothed comb, and consistently checked in with how adventurous we were feeling re. locations for photos (it lessened throughout the evening). In addition to the staged photos, Ashley captured candid photos of our guests and the most important people in our lives in special moments, while dancing, while taking space in the garden, and while looking adoringly at their spouses. While we got every photo we asked for, and so, so many more, Ashley prioritized our ability to spend quality time with our guests. We cannot recommend Ashley at Moments and Mountains enough. 10/10, next time we get married, we'll call Ashley again!

When I called inquiring about what menu options we were interested in, I made it very clear which ones we wanted and emailed the information as well. It took over a week to receive the quotes, the quotes did not include everything that had been requested. Not to mention, the service charge for each quote was nearly as much as the food itself. I'm all of paying for services and their time, but the quote had the service time until 12am which why in the world would a caterer need to stay that late at a wedding? When I asked questions and inquired about receiving an updated quote, the owner responded in email with "I'm heading out of the office for the day, but will get back to you tomorrow." We never heard from her again. I was skeptical about this catering company to begin with as they had pretty questionable reviews, but after the experience we had, I am really glad we booked elsewhere. I gave them two stars and not one because I never actually tried their food.

We just happened to park by it as we were going to explore and grab a bite to eat in downtown Olympia. I asked the cashier how long the place has been around and I was told it's been around for about two years. I'm a bit shocked that no Yelp entry has been made yet. Gallery Boom is a gallery that features over 100 local artists and virtually all of the work here is for sale. The prices on a great deal of the art pieces asked by the artists seem very reasonable. Since this gallery features so many artists the variety on what type of art there is here is quite vast. I bought several things here... a dried mushroom under glass, a purple crystal, a Christmas ornament with moss in it, a UFO rear view mirror hanging ornament and the bigger purchase a small lamp. Pictures of most of those things to follow. I was very excited to get this lamp as the artist makes all kinds of sizes of lamps that are inspired by sci-fi, UFO's, the Space Needle and other similar building structures like it. I first came across these lamps at another Olympia art gallery, Matter Art Gallery. That gallery has since gone defunct and I was very sad to no longer see these lamps but now I know a great physical location to go to for these lamps (the same artist like many of the other artist either have their own website, a point of contact or an Etsy account as well). It was great reconnecting with those artistic lamps again! The cashier said that reaching out to nearly all of the artists is easy and they are very receptive to communicating with the public. This also reflects onto the gallery itself as it doesn't come across stuffy or pretentious in the slightest. The cashier also mentioned that the art for sale can rotate out relatively quickly and that their is almost always something new to examine in a relatively short amount of time. Not only that but one pass down the aisles here just doesn't seem to do it justice. It seems like each time you walk where you already were you see something that didn't catch your eye the first time. So you can spend a lot of time here just doing that. I'm totally addicted to this place! I am SO coming back here but I'm going to wait maybe several weeks to a month for new art pieces to get brought in. If nothing else I'm most likely going to buy another one of those lovely lamps!
