Wow - Cooper is fantastic!! He was so easy to communicate with ahead of our wedding day and he was a blast to hang out with on our wedding day! He was very professional but also funny and very good at directing us and suggesting locations for us to get our photos taken. He made the whole process feel fun and relatively easy. We eloped on Mt. Rainier and he was a total trooper hiking all over and getting in the bushes or on boulders to take photos. He even carried our backpack for us and acted as one of our witnesses! I feel sheepish that so many months after the wedding I had not put a review for Cooper on Yelp. Cooper is a terrific photographer with a lot of talent. He is professional, easy to work with, and is fun to be around. His photographs speaks for itself. My husband and I customized our own packages with Cooper, and we are still reaping the benefits of his work today, almost 6 months after the wedding. We LOOOOVE Cooper Carras. We hired him to do our engagement photos in Napa, CA. At first I didn't think he would do our session since he mostly does destination weddings. To my surprise, I was able to reach him via phone easilly and agreed to an engament session that was priced reasonably with rights to all the high resolution digital files in one CD. I had several ideas for the session and he provided feedback on the locations I suggested and the likely weather at each locations. When we met in Napa, he got in our car with us as we drove to several locations for the sessions. He even took the time to talk to management to get permission to shoot onsite at private venues. During the session, we felt very comfortable with him and he suggested poses and outfit changes. He has an eye for what makes a good photo by suggesting spots, lighting, and things in the background that would be nice. He spotted a random antique 1950's truck that made a great backdrop to our photos. We spent an afternoon with him and had a great time. The pictures resulted in something like from a magazine or store catalog. We got our proofs within days after the shoot and were sooo impressed with teh quality of his work. We were surprised a couple weeks later when we received our high res DVD of all the photos AND he included prints for ALL the photos! That was a great bonus! Cooper is very creative and it's easy to see why he's on demand. I would hire him again and would love for him to do our anniversary photos if we ever have a renewal of vows ceremony... even if it's outside thsi country! We received A LOT of complimemts for our engagment photos and I already referred him to many of our friends. Hire him!!!!!! You won't regret it. He won't make you feel awkward!!! read more

I want Cooper to document my life. Not just my wedding, but the aftermath: any offspring I may have (baby, plant, mechanical or otherwise) ... down to the transition into Old Age. I may need to start a 401k for Cooper. A fellow photographer -- already booked for the weekend of my wedding -- recommended him. 'Nuf said. It's not fake, but my faves are glossy and gorgeous. Imagine yourself in your favorite magazine. I don't care what you look like ... he will make your life look like something out of Paper, Dwell, InStyle, or, if you really want, Martha Stewart Weddings. (I mean, only if you really want.) Think fancy photographer, but young - magazine - style - ish. Seriously, if you can afford him, get him. There is a fine line btw really good (young and hip) photographers, and just really good (your parents will love them, but you'll maybe cringe) professionals. It can honestly be a difference of just 5-10 years. But what separates cheesy from edgy (and sexy) is how he frames a shot, how he processes it later, and what he chooses to show you. Right on. I have never written a Yelp review before, and just created my account just so I could do my part in spreading the word about Cooper. My fiance and I interviewed 6 photographers prior to choosing Cooper, so we have seen the range of talent that is out there. I met a few decent photographers, but Cooper simply stood out from the rest. If you are doing your due diligence like I did, you can stop at Cooper... He will be shooting our August '09 wedding in the Bay Area, but we recently shot our engagement shoot and had so much fun with it. Cooper was professional, creative, patient, laid back, and fun. We just got our photos, and I couldn't be happier. They are not your typical engagement photos...Some look like ads straight out of a magazine--I hear this from everyone who looks at them. We hired Cooper to shoot our September 2009 Napa Valley wedding (at Beaulieu Garden). When we were planning our wedding, we decided that our photographer would be THE MOST important part of our team. We wanted someone who would be able to catalogue the essence of the day, and we interviewed and carefully considered a number of photographers before settling on Cooper Carras. Suffice it to say, we could not be happier about our decision. Cooper shot our engagement picture, rehearsal dinner, wedding and even a fun bridal studio shoot (a la Vanity Fair magazine cover). First of all, let me just say that Cooper works hard--really hard. There was a sudden heat wave in Napa the weekend of our wedding, and even in the unforgiving 103°F heat, he was everywhere and captured everything. I don't think anybody ever saw him take a breather, or lounge in the shade somewhere. And despite his amazing work ethic, he was also very unobtrusive and didn't detract from party. From wherever he and Ali (his assistant/partner) were, they quietly photographed our guests, the food, the flowers and everything in between. And his photographs! His photographs are beautiful - simple in composition, but showing layers of depth and warmth. He is somehow able to capture on film those fleeting seconds of richness: a private look between two people, a flash of hilarity, a moment of perfect light and shadows. Cooper is an artist, and his photographs speak volumes about his talent.
