But what really makes this place special and different from other venues are the owners. John and Juanita are the absolute best! So accommodating, laid back, generous, fun, etc. I can't say enough about them and how easy they were to work with. Talk about low-stress planning. They made everything easy and fun for us. We all like them so much that we are trying to figure out what else we can book at their venue just to see them again! The upstairs area for getting ready is huge and great for on-site hair and makeup and pre-game photos. Lots of fun props up there. I feel like Capitol City Barn will quickly become the premier venue in Olympia with these wonderful people at the helm. You will NOT be disappointed!

They are both past those health issues and now open week ends again. A side benefit (if you can call it that) to their being closed is that much of the wine laid down in barrels before their health issues hit has only become better. It is now being bottled. Built in 1928, the 7th Street Theatre is a local treasure. In its early years, it hosted vaudeville…read moreacts and became the very first theatre in Washington to present "talkies." In 1987, the theatre was successfully listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The interior of the theatre itself is a glorious example of an "atmospheric" theatre. Instead of the bland curtain covered walls of modern theatres, here, you are transported through architectural elements and ornamentation to a Spanish courtyard under an evening sky. Periodically, the theatre presents classic movies. I was able to attend a showing of The Goonies, and while I already have this in my personal movie collection, getting the chance to see it once again on the big screen for the first time since 1985 was too tempting to pass up..."Goonies Never Say Die!" There are fewer than 50 Atmospheric Theatres left in the entire world. If you ever get a chance to attend a movie or live performance at this one, do yourself a favor and go to the show!

Vintage cars and trucks add to the venues character. The barn features two large sliding barn doors upstairs and down and feature antler handles. The concrete floors include stamped planks at the enterance of the barn and a compass rose greets guests just inside the door. Glass chandeliers and string lights line the ceiling beams and large log rounds and iron work form the railings leading to two grand staircases ending at the stage. A large prep kitchen complete with refrigeration and oven lead to an outdoor space for catering vendors. A large service bar, coat closet and plenty of storage are hidden throughout the venue. Tables and linens are included in the contract. Full hook-up camping and several chain hotels are within 30 miles in either direction of the venue. A beautiful location for a wedding, party or family gathering.

It feels like a refrigerator over there. - The work suitable tables are in the poorly lit areas, while the downstairs front areas with better lighting are dedicated to narrow high benches with virtually unusable tall metal chairs. In short, whoever did the interior design was thinking in visual terms and not about ergonomics. The latte was OK, not bad but nothing special. The music, when I was there, was insipid. It is incredible enough that this beautiful Victorian home built in 1895 on the Columbia River…read morewaterfront has been lovingly restored, but I felt very fortunate that it is open to the public and I had the chance to stay there. It is very accessible from Portland and the drive there is beautiful, and when you arrive at your destination you immediately feel at peace. Brian and Linda do a great job of making you feel welcome. We brought our own snacks and had a picnic in the gazebo and enjoyed the view of the river, which is so wide at that point that it almost gives the visual of being at the ocean as ships rolled by. We stayed in the Hummingbird Room which has a very comfortable bed and a wonderful view out of the window. The rates are very affordable and include breakfast - Brian is a great cook and they offer several meal options. We added the firewood package and were so glad we did, as I type this I wish I could be back there next to the fire while looking at the river. They only have two rooms so if you went with some friends you would have the whole place to yourselves. This really is a hidden gem and I highly recommend making the trip while you can.

No Art, tiny wall tv. The Wi-Fi password is beyond complicated. I ll just go cell. Trains and announcement horns a block away. Hope it's only a couple tonight. Last one was a 1/2 hour ago. It will do but I wouldn't send family here. Update: The train runs behind the hotel. Maybe every 4 hours. And since there is a crossing with no guards the horn blow is long and slow. We won't be back.
