They have an inventory of parts, and they even have a graveyard of old VW vans and beetles to pull parts from. My car simply wouldn't start. They towed it it and found some bad sensor that doesn't show up in the computer scan. Like every repair shop, they upsold me from there ... but at 125,000 miles, I know my car needs what they recommended. And it felt a lot peppier (after they cleaned a partially clogged intake) as I drove it off the lot this morning. This is a small shop, so you'll actually talk to, pay, and pick the car up from the guy who worked on it. It wasn't cheap - but it seemed reasonable. They were happy to explain all that was right and wrong with my car and exactly what they found when they had it torn apart. A friend at work has brought his older Jetta here several times, and had the same positive experience. Each time he brought it in for one thing, but they recommended a fixed a few other things, for a reasonable price, with very noticeable results. Perhaps 15 years ago, before we met, my wife actually brought a well-used VW van here - and back then, all the word-of-mouth referrals were telling her this is the only place to go. Recommended. May get 5 stars with some more visits.

There are several reasons why I really like this place. 1) All they do is VW's---This leads me to believe that your V-dub will get looked at by someone who knows and has experience on VWs. 2) Down home friendly country folk. I came in shot-the-shit with the bossman for 45 minutes on a quieter afternoon. By the end, we were telling each other jokes. They answer all their phone calls and nothing goes to voicemail or queue. 3) Labor rates are way lower than the dealership. 4) They been around for a long time...how long? I'm not sure but looks like 15 plus years. What else do you need in a good VW mechanic? With that said, I spent a small fraction of what I expected or was willing to pay for my repair...because the mechanic didn't feel certain things I thought needed repairing at that time. Its nice to know that there is someone out there that isn't out to fleece you every time you come.

It was done quickly and at a fair price. This time, I came in because my tire pressure light was on. They checked everything, topped off the air, and had me back in my car in less than 10 minutes--at no charge. Solid, trustworthy spot. I'll definitely keep coming back when I need tire help.

After the diag, she needed a new serpentine belt and some other things. I get it; shops gotta charge for shop fees and labor, totally understand that. Here's the fraud. They charged her $82 for the Serpentine belt. (Typical Serpentine Belt prices are $20 or less, even for a premium belt). This belt is available at $10 on RockAuto.com and $15 at Autozone and Walmart. Even the most premium belt I could find from a large parts store was less than half the price they chard us. I called them and asked where they got the belt from- Advance. Advance sells the belt to consumers for $32- no auto repair shop in their right minds would pay the same prices charged to walk-ins, so I know they definitely paid less than $32 for it. But EVEN at $32, $82 for a serpentine belt is 156% markup on a part that Advance delivered to them at no additional cost Never going to The Lube Center, Auto Spa, or Frederick Auto Repair again. I can absolutely confirm that they are frauds.
