This is a great find! Very fair pricing. So far, we've had our oil changed, and a set of 4 tires. Very happy with the service!

Overall: 15/10 An honest and professional shop that has…read moreearned my lifelong business. Service: 10/10 My primary contact was Mike, however I spoke with many other staff in person and over the phone over the course of a week after I had my Crosstrek towed in with a destroyed transmission system. Everyone was courteous, helpful, and responsive. The new transmission they procured was practically brand new and installed professionally. The experience they provided me as a customer was as excellent as the final bill and they are now my go-to shop for transmission and suspension work. Thus, I strongly recommend this business. When I had my car towed in, it was after hours, but conveniently they had an overnight key/car drop off system that was secure and easy. The lobby was clean, organized, and offered free cold water.

Had my vehicle being serviced at local mechanic and they notified me that the PTU (Power Transfer…read moreUnit) that is part of transmission on all-wheel drive vehicles was leaking badly and needed to be replaced. They did not work on transmissions and advised me to take it to a transmission repair shop. Called the Ford dealership and they told me to replace it would run around $3300. For comparison I called some transmission shops and got ahold of County Transmissions and spoke with Hampton. He told me that it would run $2300 including labor if it needed to be replaced. They had good reviews so I decided to take it to them and save the $1000. Took it there on a Monday and Hampton told me they would have it done in several days. By Friday had not heard from anyone so I called them and was told that it was next in line to be looked at which would be the following Monday. My vehicle had been there five days and had not been looked at. On the following Monday, Hampton called me and said that it did need to be replaced and to replace it would run $3200. This was $1000 more than $2300 as he had initially told me and about the same as what the dealership would charge. Mentioned this to him and he said that the $2300 was for a used PTU that they would get from a salvaged vehicle, and a new one was $3200. He had not told me this when I first called and I had of course assumed the initial quote of $2300 was for a new one. Didn't even know they would consider putting a used one a vehicle because how would you know it didn't have issues. In light of this new information and for the fact I feel it was a bait-and-switch, I decided to take my vehicle to the Ford dealership and have them do the repair. The dealership's warranty on the PTU was much better and I know am getting a genuine Ford part. With an independent shop am probably getting a cheap aftermarket part. If I moved to another city or say was traveling and had an issue with it, I could take my vehicle to any Ford dealership and they would honor the warranty. If County Transmissions had done the work, then I was out of luck. Had to take an Uber back to County Transmissions and pick-up my vehicle and then take it to the Ford dealership. This costs another $50 on top of the $50 Uber charge had already incurred when I took my vehicle there and had to take an Uber to get back home as I live far from them. I opened up my SmartTag GPS tracking app as had placed an Android SmartTag GPS tracking device inside the vehicle awhile back. Was very surprised to see my vehicle had been driven around Vienna and appeared they were using it to run errands as it was stopping at various locations. So in the end I was out $100 in Uber fees, they had my vehicle for a week and nothing was done after Hampton telling me they would get to it in several days, plus they apparently used it to run errands. I would certainly not recommend this company in light of everything that happened. Note: Saw that Hampton had posted a rebuttal on my initial review where he states that the initial quote was an estimate to repair the PTU, but this is not true. The PTU is something that is replaced, not repaired, and he gave me a quote of $2300 to REPLACE the PTU. Plus they didn't need to be driving it around to determine where the leak was coming from since it was obviously leaking when I took it in and it had to be replaced. When I called him on Friday he said they hadn't looked at it yet; however they had been driving it around before that Friday. He mentions that they have a shuttle service and I asked about this but was told it didn't go to where I live.

The pricing is worth the level of assurance I received, especially with the warranty and follow-up. I needed my vehicle turned around quickly, and they accommodated my timeline without cutting corners. What stood out most was that I never felt pressured at any point. Instead, they went out of their way in a respectful and professional manner to earn my business. As someone who usually wants a second opinion, I appreciated how they clearly explained what needed to be done, why, and showed proof of the work. They delivered exactly what I needed and got my vehicle back to me on time. I'll gladly continue to bring my business here moving forward.

The staff was incredibly attentive, honest, and welcoming from the start. Even though it's a smaller shop, they have a comfortable waiting area with free coffee, snacks, and water, which was a really nice touch. They took care of my oil change and filter without an appointment and finished in less than an hour and a half. What really stood out to me was their honesty and generosity -- they even told me my next oil change would be free, which I've never experienced before. I've been to dealerships and many other auto service places around the Washington area over the past 20 years, and I can truly say this level of service is rare. This was my first visit, but based on this experience, they've earned my five stars. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend them!

I brought my car in for a standard oil change. This car had been my grandmother's grocery getter…read morebefore her passing, and hardly had 15,000 miles on it. It is in practically new condition. The attendant took my keys and said it would be about 40 minutes to an hour. About an hour later, I got a call saying the car looked great, everything was in good condition, but they did recommend that I get a brake fluid exchange. I definitely raised an eyebrow at that comment because you usually only have to replace the brake fluid every 4-5 years, and certainly not on a vehicle with less than 45,000 miles on it. I declined the offer. Again, I was given an estimate that it would be about 45 minutes for them to wrap things up with my car. Seemed like a long time to wait for an oil change, given I had dropped the car off when they opened and they already had it for an hour, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. An hour later, I came into their office to pick up my car, only to be told that it wasn't ready because they were waiting on a part to be delivered. At this point I was really scratching my head, because I wasn't getting any work done on the vehicle, just an oil change. I was informed that "whoever had previously changed the oil had stripped the oil cap, so it needed to be replaced." I was definitely skeptical of this, because I knew the car hadn't been leaking oil, but I asked for an estimate for when it would be ready... they couldn't provide me with one. I left for a second time, now wondering why this issue wasn't mentioned when I received the phone call saying everything looked great with the car. Another hour goes by and I finally get a call saying my car was ready to pick up. When I paid for the job, they charged me $88 for a full synthetic oil change, which I did not request, $7 for "disinfecting the interior of the vehicle" which was CLEARLY not done, as well as an extra $18 for the replacement oil drain plug. With labor included, the total came to $130, for what should have been a simple oil change. While I was honestly expecting the price to be high, I have NEVER paid over $60 ANYWHERE for an oil change. After paying for the work, I asked if I could have the original oil cap so I would know what to look for in the future should I have this issue again. When the attendant handed me the cap, it was obvious that whoever tried to take the cap off at Brown's garage had mangled it with the wrong tool. There were fresh shards and flakes of metal around the top of the cap, while the threads were completely intact. If the attendant had been telling me the truth, the mangled bits of metal would have shown signs of aging or discoloration like the rest of the cap, instead of looking shiny and freshly torn up. I've included a picture of the oil cap for reference. I absolutely should have read the reviews of this place before giving them my business. It seems as though their company policy is to not take ownership of mistakes when they happen, upcharge their customers for services they clearly do not need, and then have their owner reply to negative online reviews by making excuses for their employees. Maria, I know you are reading this, and I can already tell you that I have NO intention of communicating with you over the phone about the services your shop has provided. If you are truly concerned about the integrity of your work, stop trying to make nice with customers who put you on blast on the internet. Your time would be better spent reading about business ethics, and owning up to mistakes when they happen. Update: contrary to the business owner's reply, I never received a "digital report" of any of the services that were provided, and I actually was waiting to receive one before writing this review. I know the "digital report" is standard practice for this business, which is how I've been fleeced into paying for extra services in the past. Since I haven't received any before/after photos of the work that was performed, I stand by my original review and suspicions that the damage to the oil cap occurred when I brought my car in. Sidebar: regardless of what kind of oil change I had performed in the past, a standard (aka conventional) oil change is NOT the same as a full synthetic oil change. I requested a standard oil change, but was upcharged for full synthetic. While this may be the regular operating procedure at Brown's, if you go to any reputable auto service shop and request a standard oil change, they will give you a conventional oil change, or at least clarify what type of oil you want before performing the oil change. TLDR: if you want quality service and accountability, this ain't the place. Never again.
