Cheapest hotel in south beach on spring break. Wifi did not work TV did not work Air Conditioner/heater did not work Their computer system froze up and they could not make us keys and was locked out of room for 1 hour while they fought, trying to get the system back up. Could not even unlock my door manually with a master key. Warm water, but not hot water. Fire alarm randomly going off at night loud enough to make your head explode and the fire trucks would show up. Ceiling light in the room was flashing. First of all, I wouldnt call this place a hotel. Its a mix of private rooms and shared dorms. The patio seperates the hotel part from the hostel. I called them directly and booked 2 nights priced at 60 bucks a night a total of 120 dollars for two nights. When I arrived to check in they asked me for an additional 10 dollars in taxes and resort fee? YES they said resort fee! Really??? Anyway.. the room is ok, nothing special but it is private and clean. Tv doesnt work so well but the wifi signal is strong and the bed is comfortable. We booked a family studio room at the Harrison for 5 and arrived to check in just to be told that due to an overbooking we will be staying at a private apartment 5 blocks away from the main hotel. The apartment looked new and modern , it was clean and it had a balcony with a street and partial ocean view which is a plus. WiFi works OK. We didn't have a reception or a restaurant on site. We also had to walk back to the Harrison hotel to take breakfast the next day and it is a good 10 minute walk so it didn't feel like staying in a hotel and it is what we originally booked and wanted. the staff are friendly but when you call they often don't answer the phone and send you a text message instead asking what you need which is kind of strange. Not the absolute worse, but definitely not the best. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, then this is right for you. For the quality it's ridiculous at how expensive it is. Definitely feels like a hostel that has been converted into a hotel. There is no parking so you do have to find your own, especially since most did not seem to offer overnight. We had to park 5 blocks away. Again not the worst. When checking-in @4pm on a Saturday we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to appear at the front desk. Another worker kept assuring us that the other person was coming. It's wild that no one was there to assist at the hotel. Who leaves the front desk empty? Our room was fine, besides the bathroom not looking very clean. No mold besides the small parts on the ceiling. The room and bed were good overall and the sheets seemed clean. The towels were not clean enough. One just had the scent of vomit while the others smelled like bleach. I wish I found the bleached towels first. They managed to accommodate me checking in early, but the hotel doesn't have dedicated parking and they hotel room had 0 towels or linens of any kind for stopping the sloshy water that inevitably results from running the shower for even a few moments. *Beware of this Hotel* 5 night stay Location was good. We got catfish. Pictures on the website are not the same as what the hotel looks like in person. From day one we started having issues. We killed one or two roaches every day. Key card had to get reactivated every day. Front desk was not 24hr. They do not have breakfast even though it says "Breakfast Included" We had a bad storm one night and the ceiling started leaking from the ceiling light. They put us in another room to sleep for the night but never bother to check the room to see if any damages. Didn't even bother to ask if everything was OK. So many negative reviews here and honestly not sure what someone is expecting with a hotel around the hundred dollar mark on SouthBeach. The gate area when you walk in is in good shape and the design inside and the rooms is decent sufficient rot the price. I stayed here for a week and found it to be very clean and comfortable and with an amazing staff that made me feel welcome. The beds were comfortable and the internet was fast, great spot at the end of the strip only a short walk to the beach. Housekeeping every day unlike the Marriott we stayed at the week before, clean towels and a shower with hot water and good water pressure. There are a lot of negative reviews regarding this establishment and I can see why, but at the same time you get what you pay for. 3 friends and i booked this place through Airbnb and it was more than fine for our stay. The room was pretty clean and the bathroom was modern. The sheets did have some stains and the floor and wall had a hole in it- but again, you get what you pay for. The place is decorated like a pimps house and constantly smells like cigs and weed, with townies hanging around but I always felt safe and our room never smelt bad. The room came with towels, AC, and bath products. The beds were also very comfortable. They held our luggage for us also because checkout was before we had to leave for the airport. If you can look past the zebra chairs in the common area and the interesting types of people who hang outside in the court yard, this place will be fine to sleep in. This was the worst hotel experience. I say that even though I'm not picky about accommodations and actually pride myself on being content anywhere. The main thing is that it took and hour to check in and we were refused any kind of discount for the waste of time and stress of not knowing if we'd have a place to stay despite paying for a place months ago. Everything that came after about the hotel made me wish that we did actually have to go somewhere else. Long details ahead but I really want to get people to take the reviews seriously, because I didn't and ended up here. The front desk lost our reservation even though it was paid for already and getaroom.com had the information had our reservation. The person at the desk said something about having gotten the reservation but not confirming it? When we had dropped off our luggage earlier in the morning, they took our ID but didn't check to make sure we actually had a reservation. We just left our luggage in a big pile of luggage that was publicly accessible to anyone walking in. That was fine since we could see that was the case and had nothing valuable. Someone miraculously cancelled and we were finally able to get the room we already paid for. When we finally got our room key, it was for someone else's room. We actually went into a room that had someone else's stuff in it. Luckily (I think?) they weren't in the room so no awkward encounter. Got the key reprogrammed and went to our actual room. The beds were incredibly squeaky and it was impossible to move without waking yourself up. The TV was broken (blue screen when turned on) and they told us they would send a maintenance person to the room to fix it, but the maintenance person didn't come until seven hours later when we were all asleep already. There is no coffeemaker in the room. Just the tray a coffeemaker would normally go on in a normal hotel room. I asked the front desk and they said there wasn't supposed to be one. There was no shower door or curtain, only a half wall, so after a shower, there's a ton of water on the floor for the next person. The phone was disconnected and I'm pretty sure it was on purpose so no one can call the front desk. I'm trying to think of one positive, but can't other than the prime location. Spare the hate on the Harrison please! The hotel manager went down to the basement to chip ice off a block because I wanted my drinks cold! Now who would put in such awesome efforts to make sure their guests have a comfortable stay? I think most people booking here or anywhere boutique in South Beach have a high expectations without considering most of their costs go into the real estate. Unless you are shelling out $500 a night at the Fountain Bleu, you probably are going to have to forgo the perfect hotel experience. I enjoyed my spacious room, and clean bathroom. I have stayed at the Shelborne before for a godforsaken price during WMC, and I gotta say this room was better and I only spent $95 on a weekday rate from Booking.com. I would stay here again because its a decent room, I had all the amenities I needed and I was located right off the causeway in South Beach. When I found out that I was going to Miami for a conference and that all the rooms at the main hotels were booked, I had to go with plan B. Find somewhere decent to stay. After logging on to bookit.com I found a deal to stay 4 nights, rental car and flight for less than $1000 for 2 people. What a bargain! It's not a a Hilton or Westin, but I have to say that I was very pleased with the accommodations and location. It's a good 15 to 20 minute drive from the airport in South Beach. There are good restaurants around the corner and it's walking distance to shopping and the beach. If you have a car, there's a parking lot behind the building that charges $25 a day. It's actually cheaper to just head straight to the entrance and leave it with the hotel valets for $20 a day. Their a cool group of guys that are very courteous and don't expect tips for some reason. I tipped them anyway. It's a boutique hotel. It's kinda small. There's no room service and the maids are really slow. I noticed that they didn't get to our room until late in the afternoon. One day they didn't even make it at all. And then a manager or someone came knocking on our door at around 5pm asking if we still needed service. I just turned him away. We had been out since early morning and I needed to unwind. Our room was actually spacious. It had a kingsized bed, 40 inch flat screen tv, small desk and a couple of chairs. An '80s painting of a Japanese Geisha decorated the wall. The closet was a little strange and tight and the bathroom was ok except for the fact that they put in some fancy sink which was basically a square with a giant bowl on top. It was a little difficult to keep your toiletries on it. There was no dresser. I found that a little odd. It reminded of the little hotel rooms in Europe, but with more space. Free wifi was provided, but didn't really work in the rooms, You had to take your laptop to the courtyard to get a signal. If your a techno geek, the alarm clocks have a special dock for you ipod/phone. So if you want to stay in South Beach in a hotel with no elevators and close to a lot of amenities, this place is A-OK. read more

Don't let the comments fool you - I've never left a review on yelp before, but this is a situation I felt necessary to share my experience. Let me start by mentioning I think everyone giving low ratings are acting like overdramatic entitled royalty. Obviously this isn't the nicest place you're going to stay in Miami, but for this price honestly what do you expect? We came last year and stayed in a 5 star hotel for my girlfriends 21st birthday, and decided to come back and stay somewhere a little cheaper for her 22nd. We weren't blown away by the room, but it definitely isn't the worst place I've stayed before. Our flight was canceled and we checked in a day late. The wonderful concierge, Gilbert, gladly refunded us for the missed night and gave us a new discounted rate for the rest of our stay. I was very appreciative of his help and he made our stay a very positive experience. We had an issue with the A/c when we first got in, but soon after figured out how to work it. We were missing some towels, but got them after asking the front desk. THE TOWELS HAD NO STAINS AND SMELT GREAT, I'm not sure why so many reviews mentioned dirty towels? The sheets were cleaned, and everything matched what a typical motel would offer. I ran into different situations like needing ice from the ice machine, needing an iron, or holding our luggage before our flight and the front desk staff was very accommodating. The location was not bad, and it was never too loud to sleep - if anything we were the loud ones. If you have a problem with the smell of weed in the common area, this may not be the place for you, however the room never smelled like anything. If you need a place to lay your head after a day at the beach and night on the town this is your place to go. I like this place. It's a stonesthrow away from the beach and bars and restaurants yet quiet. The rooms are a good size, the beds big, comfy and clean, the aircon works a treat and most of all the staff are exceptionally friendly and accomodating. I liked that my room wasn't carpeted, it's Miami! Who wants carpet? There was a coffee maker in-room, no fridge though but an ice machine downstairs in the cute courtyard. The bathroom was well stocked with plenty of towels and nice toiletries. The maids were great and my room was made up nicely every day. Yes, there was a bit of plaster coming of the walls and there were blinds only, no curtains, but honestly, I don't spend time in my hotel when in Miami beach. What a beautiful hotel! The gated entrance is so cute, and the courtyard that you walk through as you go to the reception area is so cute. It's a nice small and quaint hotel. This is not for people that are looking to stay for long periods of time. If you're a college student looking for a nice little hotel and you find this on something like bookit.com, then it's perfect. It's a "I'm not going to be in the room that long" kind of hotel. It really is located near everything. Right around the corner are restaurants to grab a nice dinner and right across the street is a CVS which is very convenient. A lot of friends we go to school with were staying on Collins and at least 10th and above. We were by far closer to everything as far as Wet Willie's and Fat Tuesdays. The hotel employees were very nice and whenever we needed something they were always there to help. They store bags which is great when check out is at 11 and your flight doesn't leave until later that evening. They have valet service which we didn't need but the valet men were very nice. Staff is always willing to take a group picture for you lol. The decor is very weird yet cool. The reception area and the courtyard pops with red. And just downstairs are their suites and rec room and that area is very cool. The rooms have a slight Asian theme which almost contrasts with the old Hollywood theme but I am not complaining at all. The shower was a little weird in that there isn't really a door but it's just glass covering most of the shower. The sinks are so cute. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK: Absolutely horrible experience and horrible staff. These rooms are infested with MAGGOTS and COCKROACHES. First of all, don't let the pictures online fool you because the hotel rooms DO NOT look like that. We found blood stains on our sheets and towels and the ceiling was caving in. The last straw was finding maggots crawling all over the ceiling (we have picture and video proof) and a 4 inch cockroach was crawling on our wall (also have video proof). This hotel WOULD NOT pass health inspections and it should be shut down. We left the hotel immediately upon finding these insects and the manager agreed to refund us our full stay of $1500. I called back this morning to ask when the refund is being processed and the manager, David, acted as if he has no idea what we were talking about and refuses to refund the money. The management will lie to you and make false promises. We booked a room at the Essex hotel at 5AM (much nicer hotel) for the duration of our stay. Four stars for being exactly (and I mean, expectations = reality exact) what we were looking for, and a little bit more - SUPERB service! We were looking for a place to stay for just one night in South Beach, before staying in a hotel in DT Miami for Weekend 2 of Ultra. My expectations were fairly simple -- 1) Find a room 2) Reasonably priced 3) Centrally located in South Beach 4) Clean room to get ready and sleep; ie minimal time in room 5) Not going to get robbed Honestly, the bare minimum, right? Regarding point #5, I'd read so many horror stories here in Yelp about people getting robbed, almost getting robbed, and being disgusting living situations for the price range I was looking for. "You get what you pay for" was the most common phrase. Well, the room was about $260 for 1 night during WMC/MMW, and so relative to the prices that were popping up for the remaining available hotels at the time, this was on the 'cheaper' end. Yes, you can in a pretty nice room for one night in Vegas for a lot cheaper. BUT this was Miami. South Beach. (Bringin' the heat.) During a major music conference week. This was also my first time staying at a boutique hotel. In other words, I was a but weary of what the conditions would be like, and skeptical that our experience would be good - which is part of the train why I'm so pleased with how our stay at the Harrison went. Now, to line up the reality of our stay with my expectations: 1) A room was available! I booked the room about 3 weeks prior to the stay, which was pretty late considering the enormity of events that week. 2) In my opinion, pricing was reasonable ($260 after taxes/fees). I had another hotel in mind which although was cheaper, was in a seemingly residential area in DT Miami, when we wanted to be in South Beach. All things considered, $260 was reasonable. 3) Fantastic location. A block or two away from the beach, Collins, Ocean, Washington, food, drinks and pretty much within walking distance of anything we wanted to do in South Beach. Very much convenient location in South Beach! 4) Our room was as clean as it gets. Freshly laundered white sheets and fluffy pillows topped our King-sized bed, which also had extra cushioning on top - the kind that you sorta sink into when you lay on it, almost Tempurpedic-like. There was a desk, two nightstands, plenty of lamps, and a big flat screen TV (not that we planned on watching anything). The room had clean, dark wide-paneled hard wood floors, and a large mirror for getting ready. The bathroom was tight, but clean and supplied with the necessities. Towels clean. Good closet space. Room was air-conditioned and cooled prior to our arrival. It was exactly what we needed and wanted: clean and comfortable. Only gripe was that it used a key instead of a key card, which made me a little nervous. Which leads to my last point. 5) We didn't (I repeat, did NOT) get robbed! Seems silly, but it was a worry of mine. Staff always seemed to be around, and it did feel like a safe location. BONUS) Terrific service! We were greeted by friendly, extremely accommodating concierge. We were early, so we gave them our bags, and he showed us the restroom so we could freshen up and go out while the room was being cleaned. We called in a couple times to check if the room was ready. Upon returning, our bags were carried up with a smile and any questions or needs we had were met. Check-out was also easy and friendly, and they offered to hold our bags again while we ate before leaving South Beach. Honestly, I was expecting mediocre/bad service after all the reviews I'd read here in Yelp on the smaller hotels in South Beach. But I was pleasantly surprised. It truly is a respectable 50's(??) built hotel with 'quaint' rooms and nothing more than the most basic amenities, yet surprisingly quiet and comfortable. ~~~Translation~~~ Its OLD and SMALL and offers nothing more than an Ice Machine downstairs, but its quiet, affordable and in a great location. Very friendly staff, but the ODD issue all of us had daily was that our key cards needed to be reset every day. The desk staff said it was due to being near a cell phone or magnetic device but I wasn't buying it. Having numerous days left in our stay, I decided to test this theory...that wasn't it. The only day I didn't have to reset my key was the day I refused Maid service. So I guess her master key is what causes the issue??? I'm not sure if they just wanted you to come down everyday as a 'Safety' or 'Security' feature, but it was beginning to become very annoying toward the end of our stay. Other than that, If you need a hotel that's affordable, quiet and with no frills, you'll love this place. PS. Park in the lot next door to the East. The Hotel Valet cost is the same per day rate and they take at least 20 min. to get your car. We needed to come and go A LOT and the lot next door was very convenient and only took seconds to walk to. read more

We made a reservation for two nights on Expedia, but needed to check out early. We left at 7AM after staying one night and advised the clerk-- he said he would make a note and collected our room key. When we inquired about the status of our refund for the second night, the hotel manager stated it wouldn't be granted because we did not notify Expedia that we were checking out early. They had the room available for the second night and should have told us if that was the policy. Place was run down and dingy anyway and did not even warrant the price for one night. I got room 115 and the AC had a stream of water pouring out of it and in half of the room the carpeted floor was soaking wet, smelled very moldy and everything felt damp. I asked to be switched to another room and they said nothing was available then I asked about their refund policy and suddenly a room was available. To be honest, since I had the expectation that this place wasn't going to be nice or fancy, it made my entire stay there a little better. I'm giving them stars for service and location. The location is unbeatable. It's right next the mall, near the poppin' South Beach area, and right up the street are restaurants that open until 2am. The docked stars are for the valet parking $30/night, the hundreds of insect wings we saw on the chair next to our bed (ew), and weird smelling sheets. It legit smelled like dog food!! We asked the maid if she could switch it out and she said she would but the smell still lingered the next day. I tried really hard to like this place due to the nice service we got upon checking in, but couldn't see past the cons. FILTHY ROOMS, STOLE OUR PROPERTY! Let me start by saying that as a budget traveler I am not picky and have no issue staying in less than extravagant places, but this was the absolute WORST experience I've ever had (been to 5+ low cost hotels in this area and I also frequent motel 6 style places/hostels when traveling). If you are reading this PLEASE take my advice. DO NOT STAY HERE. The hotel is absolutely filthy, when you first enter the hallway it smells like a mix of piss and cigarette smoke. The rooms are even worse. The pictures advertised are misleading. We were given a room with a keypad that didn't work so management had to manually unlock our door every time we needed to enter. The carpet and tile were dirty, there were stains on the pillows and sheets, air conditioner was broken, the bathroom looked as if it hadn't been cleaned and the toilet seat came off completely. When we informed management about this he mumbled something about maintenance but it was never fixed. Try using a toilet for 3 days with no toilet seat! Two expensive jackets were left in the closet the first day we got there and on the morning of checkout we noticed they weren't there anymore (hadn't used them the entire trip). We know for a fact that they were there (had several witnesses) and while repacking we noticed they were both gone. Told management and he completely dismissed us, wouldn't even listen. Remember that keypad that didn't work? Literally NO ONE had access to the room except hotel staff, NOT EVEN US! They also refused any type of discount or compensation for all of the inconveniences (dirty room, no toilet seat, no air conditioning, having to wait outside for 20 mins every time we wanted to get inside, property stolen). Our uber driver (who was a local) informed us on the way to the airport that the Harrison is well known for its terrible conditions and FOR STEALING FROM HOTEL GUESTS! He told us that it literally happens all the time at this place and he hears it from almost everyone he picks up from there. It's not worth the price, my friends stayed at a hostel down the street that was in much better condition. we paid a week prior to our arrival yet waited almost 25 minutes just to get our two rooms due to them not being ready although we arrived 1 hour after our regular check in. when we entered the hotel room hallways...it was atrocious. leaks throughout the walls, reeks of cigarettes and weed, and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in centuries. and don't get me started on the rooms omg. they were nice when you walked in, but then you start walking around and they're are floorboards lifted up and the shower was nasty and small af. i would rather sleep on the street. lmao. read more

I would highly suggest no one ever stay here. When arriving they did not have any rooms available that I booked months prior and wanted to give me smaller beds. When I finally got to the room, I would have been better of staying in a hostel. Blood on the walls, no functioning air conditioning, no curtains, dirty sheets, dirty furniture, absolutely the worst hotel I've walked into. The Hotel is ok for a 2 stars, squeeky bed, clean sheets and bathroom. it has fridge, safe, microwave, coffee maker and tv with basic cable. 4 stars for that. Carlos from the front desk made a big difference! Very helpful and accomodating. 5 stars for the staff! read more

I am an easy traveler. I do not expect room service, a view, expensive linens, I'm even ok with a surly staff . I stay in 2 star Vegas Hotels and love it. I have no idea how anyone could give this place anything better than a 2. Maybe y'all got a different room, but ours didn't look like anything in the pictures. Stayed there a night before a cruise, didn't have time to find anywhere else. DIRTY! There were what looked like some kind of fluid stains all over the sheets and pillow cases. I covered everything with the old scratchy towels and slept on those. The blanket it in the closet was covered with various people's hair. -_- LOUD! OH MY GOD! I live in the heart of a city and goood GOD! People are Crazy when they say that the club near by is not a big deal? WTF?!?!?!? It was as if it was IN the room (like I said I live in the city and this was just insanity!) We had to crank the a/c (couldn't use the hairy blanket) and covered our ears with pillows and towels. which made for a FREEEZING night as we had to have the loud a/c or hear the DJ tell everyone to "SCREEEEEAM!"...Until 5AM! 5..A..M...!!! Either you folks are nuts for saying it wasn't a big deal or we just got put in the torture tower. The staff was friendly, but that and the price was NOT worth this kind of a night! That is all. This place needs to get it's act together, advertize correctly, clean up, and warn people about the rooms that sound like a Non-stop Jersey Shore Mating Ritual! read more
