Would not recommend the deli counter at this Harris teeter. We put in an online pick up order an hour in advance for two subs-simple subs, not even super specialty subs, they only had minor customizations. When we arrived on time, the lady at the counter informed us that she hadn't even started making them yet even though we put the order in an hour ago. Ok fine, it's busy in the store-not at the deli counter from what I can see though. Then she starts making them and she starts listing all the ingredients they don't have that we ordered, if you have an online order service, you need to mark off the ingredients you are out of. So we recustomize our subs and somehow she still messes them up, wrong size, wrong ingredients, missing ingredients, added ingredients that we didn't order, wrong bread. And it took her 20+ mins to make 2 subs. Will not be ordering here again. read more

Tons of free parking. Accepts both cash and credit card. This grocery store is located in a big shopping center located in Turf Valley. If you are in need of groceries, this place is worth the trip. Their prices are reasonable if not lower compared to other grocery stores. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. They also have a Starbucks located inside the store. They also have a hot and cold bar if you are in the mood to grab a quick bite. Worth checking out if you are in the area. Great for a quick trip for a few essentials. I always forget about this Harris Teeter location because its a little bit out of the way for me. I just happened to be in the area for my daughter summer camp and I had a little time to kill before she was done. I decided to stop in to this Harris Teeter to get a few things I needed for dinner. Parking lot was not that full on a droid at afternoon. I guess most people were probably still at work. The store was very clean and organized. All of the shelves were stocked. I only needed a few things so I didn't explore the entire store. I did go to the meat counter to get some fresh burger patty's they were on sale. I was going to get the regular frozen burgers but seeing the fresh ones on display made me change my mind. The lady behind the counter greeted me with a smile and was very pleasant during our interaction. There was no line for the self check out so I was able to make my purchase with ease. Not in the area often but would come back here in the future. They also have recycling bins in front of the store for your old bags. They do charge the 5 cents bag fee mandated in Howard County so be sure to bring your reusable bags. read more

Last night was my 1st time visiting this place. I've heard so many great things about this grocery store but I've never visited any locations for groceries. I have visited a down South location for Starbucks but not for groceries. Well, tonight's the night. We literally needed nothing, maybe 0-2 items but I just wanted to look through here while I had time and check out the fresh departments as well as shelf stock. I was very very impressed. Overall the prices are good. There were a few items that I noticed was $1-$2 more here than other places and then items $2 to $4 less here than other places so you really need to know your stuff. The quality of fresh veggies and meats, variety of brands, spaciousness of store and cleanliness of environmental was appropriate. Once I got to the checkout I knew I was coming back. I 1st went to customer service to see if they have a club card and they do. Jacob was kind enough to assist me and put me in the system so now I am a VIC member of this place as well. I am looking forward to returning back and purchasing more items and continuing to support a place to has everything your grocery heart desires! read more

This is a recent discovery that the Sushi department at Harris Teeter is pretty good. We have tried individual sushi items as well as their poke bowls which all of them have been fresh. This time we ordered one of their platters. It had a nice variety of quality sushi, for 3 people it was not quite enough, we did wish for few more pieces in order to feel satisfied. read more

Terrific young lady at Cust Svc was awesome, helpful and acted like we mattered. The TWO ladies at checkout clearly wanted to be somewhere else. There was barely a greeting, no smile and they both while polite behaved like this was the worst place for them to be right now. Maybe it is. I always say that if you're unhappy at work LEAVE. Don't drip your misery on those around you. Find something you're passionate about or something that doesn't make you want to drop down on the floor next the register and do that. The gentleman grabbing the carts outside also seemed really annoyed to be there when I asked him for a cart. There was a gentleman near the soft drinks that gave us some assistance. He was clear and helpful yet very focused on his task. Another observation is that the customers in the store seemed to have the same dispositions as the staff (save for my friend in customer service). Is this just a miserable place to work and live??? This is our local grocery store. Weis is technically closer, but I know where everything is in HT and the store is clean, with friendly employees. The BP gas points program is also a plus. I routinely save anywhere from .20-.80 cents per gallon because of money spent at HT. I have always had great experiences with the Express Lane Grocery Shopping service, as well as in store shopping. Most recently Heather at the Floral/Balloon counter was very helpful and friendly. I was in a rush the morning of my daughter's first birthday and she quickly and efficiently blew up a '1' balloon for me. The service associates in the deli, meat, and seafood departments are also very nice. I usually end up spending more than I would at other stores with the exception of Whole Foods, but the produce and groceries in general are high quality at Harris Teeter. read more

The worst Deli department I have ever encountered is at the Harris Teeter store in Turf Valley center. The staff is very rude, slow and provide poor customer service. They often seem occupied with tasks behind the counter or chat among themselves while customers are left waiting for service. I cannot believe the store management continues to allow the poor customer service to continue. I have complained almost every visit to the store manager on duty, but while apologetic is unconcerned with the problem. Today, I spoke to a manager identified as "Shawn". Upon notice that I would submit a negative review he stated "that will not help anything or make a difference". I enjoy this store generally. They are usually well stocked, clean and checkout service is superb. The meat, seafood and bakery staff are friendly and efficient. The checkout counter staff also above average and friendly. As a fan of harris teeter, this place is just like any other as you would expect for quality, cleanliness, service. Its your normal harris teeter experience in terms of what they sell. What I love about this location is that its 24/7, it saved my ass on a long late night drive on 70 heading into baltimore. As 70 typically has nothing open late night, this place was awesome for a much needed snack and caffeine boost. Will be saving this location on my GPS. I absolutely LOVE Harris Teeter. I drove at least 30 miles to come. I live in Baltimore and this was the Marriottsville store. The store is so clean with plenty of samples of fruit, cheese and lunch meat. The prices are phenomenal and I love the fact they double coupons under 99 cent. The seafood is reasonable and that is pretty much all I eat. I am always looking for the Voss flavored sparkling water Lemongrass Cucumber and they always have it. Great selections. Great selection of produce, meats, seafood, cheese, etc. However....what good does a cart full of groceries do for you, if you can't pay? This store has a serious lack of employees on duty! Where is everyone? So, tonight, I counted 1..ONE cashier. The time was approximately 7 pm on a Friday night. So all the automatic lanes were open, but guess what..those thing never work! It's so annoying. They beep and give the message "require an attendant." Well..there was not an attendant. I counted about 25 people in line waiting. It was a disaster. This really needs to be corrected. I actually saw two people ditch their baskets and leave out of frustration. Now that's bad. Dear Harris Teeter, please work on staffing. read more

I typically shop at Trader Joe's, but every once in a while I need high quality meat so I'm willing to drive 20min out of the way to visit Harris Teeter (or Harry Teets as my coworker affectionately calls it). Every time I come here, I'm met with the best service that I have ever experienced at a grocery store. I'd like to write about one specific experience that led to me being a true believer (omg...that sounds like HT is a cult...well maybe...a grocery store cult. Anyway, I'm in...I digress). Okay, so I signed up to attend a 10 freezer meal workshop at my friend's house and little did I know/maybe I wasn't paying attention...but I didn't realize that I was going to actually have to purchase food for 10 freezer meals. You'd think that that would be apparent to me. smh. So, with these 10 meals, I needed 10 high quality proteins... you know, short ribs, pork shoulder, filet mignon...things like that. I am an aspiring home chef, but I'm still familiarizing myself with the different cuts of meat. So, as you can imagine, I was a little overwhelmed. Well, I had theeee nicest butcher come from behind the counter and took my list and we picked everything out together. There were even some packages of meat that didn't meet the weight requirements. Michael, the butcher, actually opened the packages and broke the meat down to fit what I needed. When applicable, he even pointed me in the direction of sales. YAY! That experience pretty much sealed the deal for me. I'm sold on Harry Teets and I always look forward to going back. Things are a bit costly there, so I'll keep TJ's as my main grocery store and HT as my butcher/specialty item store. read more

The deli ensures your cuts of meat are exactly how you want them and the samples they put out throughout the store are plentiful. Prices are competitive, except for botled water which is strange. I called Harris Teeter over a week before Thanksgiving to ask them to hold a 22lb Butterball Turkey for me to pick up on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. They took my name and number and assured me they would. I come by that Tuesday, and there is no Turkey there above 17lbs. I asked what happened, and they casually said they gave mine to somebody else. Luckily Giant had a 21lb shady brook. Will not be coming back here. I have a love hate relationship with this place. They screwed a deli and bakery order up that I made online (for there and they had no record of it because the lady that does that was out sick) and gave me the platters for free (after I had to wait 20 minutes to get them). If you are getting lunch meat, it is slow. They take forever. Don't come here to get lunch meat in a hurry. I've never seen such slow moving people. They are always smiling and asking if you want a sample so it is hard to be impatient with them. That being said, the store has a great selection and is clean, everyone is friendly and the prices are good. I am VERY pleased that this place finally opened since the closest option was unbearable and driving further was a pain in my rear.The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The facility is very clean and new (should be it's brand new). However, I have two issues with them. The first is the lack of diversity and the fact that they have numerous items duplicated throughout the store (even within the produce area) and I'm not talking organic verses nonorganic or different brands of the same product, I'm talking the same exact s**t put in different areas, in some cases multiple times. I hope it is just because they are new and filling up space until they officially have it together. I really don't like seeing the same yogurt, cottage cheese, or baby carrots three different times during my shopping extravaganza. Secondly, the "Harris Teeter" store brand products are hit or miss. Overall, I would say steer clear. Sometimes they are a great inexpensive alternative to the brand name product but I have often times found that they consist of large amounts of toxic filler i.e. their juices, canned products, and some cooking oils etc. Did I mention I HATE grocery shopping? Well, I do. But, shopping here is not half bad. But, I normally shop on weekdays in the early to mid morning when the store is dead and therefore dodge the whole RUDE, entitled D**CH*B*G crowd, I recommend you do the same if possible. As a discriminating New Yorker the Supermarket experience is driven by customer service. This Harris Teeter leaves a lot to be desired. The store itself is well designed and has many items that I would look for back home in NYC. However when I ask an employee a question the response should never be "I don't know" especially when it's a common item (Tomato Sauce). The young man did not even make an attempt to say "let me find out" or "I think it's in aisle 10" . It wasn't until checkout that Doralee made the genuine customer service gesture of asking how my day was going! She saved this from being a two. I have come to despise going into ANY Harris Teeter but after my trip to the Turf Valley location today (June 24) , I can honestly say I will NEVER willingly step into a Harris Teeter store again. I had a job near this location and my husband asked me to pick bread because it was on sale, and also a few other items. I have had issues with this location in the past as far as finding available checkout lanes. Using self-checkout at ANY Harris Teeter is pretty much like going through all of the 7 circles of hell; so, I decided to use a cashier lane. There were three lanes open (it was around 1:00pm) so I thought I would be okay... Unfortunately, all three cashiers seem to be in a contest to see who could move most slowly... All of the folks waiting in the lines continuously bailed out to the self-checkout lanes. After not moving for around 12 to 15 minutes, I eventually decided to follow suit. Needless to say, my 7 Circles of Hell analogy once again proved to be true. The others who had bailed out before me were all standing around waiting for assistance at all four available self checkout registers because - as usual - self checkout was having some pedantic issue. So I waited another 10 minutes watching various HT employees throw their hands up in the air trying to get the self checkout registers to work. I had about 12 items and it LITERALLY took 25 minutes for me to checkout. I WILL NEVER WILLINGLY STEP FOOT IN A HARRIS TEETER STORE AGAIN!!! read more

After shopping in the H T in King's Contrivance and then Turf Valley when it first opened, I find the service here now a big disappointment. Deli is usually slow, there's rarely anyone at the bread station, and now they seem to often cut back to one check stand. Their self-service checkout stations are the worst of at least five I've used. Frequently out of some items--lemonade, pimiento cheese, the bakery breads are recently often depleted. It's bad enough there's no Starbucks and no seafood steamer; now the service is seriously degraded. Nice seafood and nice produce, but I can find that elsewhere. read more

I find this grocery store on a level with the best in the area but less expensive. I do weekly shopping and always find what I am looking for. There are always sales and I routinely save 15-20%. My wife is surprised by how relatively low costs are. Store is clean. At times they could use more checkout people, but the prices more than make up for it. This store is literally amazing. It looks typical but at a closer look at what is on the shelves. There is a sophistication and unusual diversity of products. The meat department is as it was decades ago in terms of properly named cuts. Fresh ground chuck etc instead of mystery meats by percentages in most stores and freshly prepared in store. Don't shop at Harris Teeter unless you have a lot of time and s lot of money. Their prices are high for standard items - about 15 - 20%. They do have a good selection though. However when you go to check out in their self service aisle, make sure you have a good book if you have coupons. You're going to wait a long time. The check-out stations don't recognize coupons and you need to get the attendant to scan them in. I had to wait 5 minutes for him to finally scan in my coupon. The place was not that busy this Friday night. Just bad systems and poor customer service from the staff. I'll go to Giant next time! read more

Their pharmacy recently went above and beyond for a difficult situation. I was driving home from a long distance trip when I received bad news from my doctor. He let me know that he had called in a prescription for me at Harris Teeter in Ellicott City, and I phoned my husband to pick it up for me while I drove home, so it would be ready for me when I arrived. Unfortunately it was a special order item, and they didn't have it in stock. Already upset, I asked my husband if there was anything they could do. One particular pharmacist (the older one) went completely out of her way to call nearly every pharmacy in the area, looking for a pharmacy to fill it. She actually found one, and I was able to drive by the other to pick it up. She didn't have to do any of that, but she did, and I'm grateful. read more

I've been going to Harris Teeter Pharmacy in Turf Valley since they opened. I use to be very happy with them until they brought on a couple of new hires at the Pharmacy this year. A couple of months ago, I took my prescription (controlled substance) to be filled. The pharmacist looked at my prescription and told me that she had to call my doctor to verify if my prescription was legit. I proceeded to tell her that I had been getting that same prescription filled there for years without any problems. I asked her if she could look up my history on her computer system and she said no. At that time, my doctors office was closed so I had to wait until the next business day for them to call my doctor to verify the prescription. Not only was this a wasted trip but they also made me feel like a common criminal. Today was the last straw. I dropped off my prescription to be filled while I did some light shopping. The pharmacist was very unfriendly, didn't even say hi. She just took my prescription and told me it would be about 15 minutes. I chalked up her bad attitude as maybe she was just having a bad day...we all have them. So I did a little shopping while I was waiting. Picked up some water bottles and post it notes...nothing major. Went to purchase my prescriptions and the few items that I had gotten. The pharmacy technician was vacuuming. She stopped to ring me up. Rung up my prescriptions and put them in a bag then she proceeded to hand me a separate bag and told me that it was for my other things. I bagged up my water bottles and post it notes and left as she continued to vacuum. Since when are pharmacy technicians too good to bag up a few groceries. Where is the customer service? It was literally 6 bottles of hint water and 3 packages of post it notes. I will not be going back. Also, I agree with the other people on here who say that the deli is too slow. read more

We use the pharmacy, and it's excellent! Usually no wait, or little time before the Rx is ready, and the pharmacist staff is very friendly. The prices are fine, comparable to other places. We get a lot of the HT brand items, and they all taste great. The store always looks clean, and there usually seems to be a clerk to help us check out. My kids appreciate the free cookie, they always ask for it as soon as we go in! read more

Generally a pretty pleasant store with exception of one employee "Melissa" who was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I was in picking up about a dozen items and having trouble with the self check out as there wasn't room to bag the items. I asked for help from the two employees chatting with each other but apparently they were too busy to help the one customer in the store. After an extended period of time, Melissa came over and said sarcastically that all I needed to do was "follow directions". I guess this was her idea of customer service or lack thereof. read more

I never post reviews so if you see this... It's a legit real review. I'm a frequent HARRIS teeter pick up user. I just had a mishap where I went to the store to pick up... They misunderstood my name and so they put another customers groceries in my car (not thinking of the price difference) I paid and went home. When I got home I realized that they weren't my groceries... So I called the store. They then realized that my order was still in my cart on my app and I had never actually placed the order. So not only did I accidentally take home someone else's groceries... I never actually placed my order. Jan... The manager, came to my house (which is about 20 minutes away) picked up the other customers groceries and brought me my groceries at no charge. BY FAR THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
