Absolutely lost in the past. Essentially has not been improved since the early 2000s. No organic section, the bakery is the weakest in the area. They almost never have enough cashiers and I refuse to work for free at self checkout for inflated prices. I always come to Harris Teeter to handpick sweet potatoes for my pies. On 11/19/25 I went and got roughly 40 lbs of sweet potatoes, which at 25 cent per lb was the best price of any grocery store I have ever seen. In addition I went for some deep dish pie shells that were on sale, however they ended up being out of stock. Shout out to Kimora(possibly Kimoni) for offering to price match a Harris Teeter equivalent item to the name brand in lieu of a rain check. This was definitely above and beyond customer service, which totally helped my small business. Folks usually leave reviews to complain, however I'm offering kudos to this young lady. Went in an hour before closing. Had to be obnoxious to gain attention at deli. Obviasly annoyed, the employee said he "could" slice me my order. (other was 50 + texting like a school girl on his smartphone) I Did not wish to bother him and moved on. Decided my sub rolls were the only thing I needed there anymore. At checkout, asked youngling if manager avaiable. he came back a min later and advised manager wanted to know what I required? I answered I wished to give my feedback on my visit that evening, since their customer service line was closed. Manager arrived 20 seconds later, perhaps she overheard from her posistion 30 feet away. She said she requested her youngling to ask me my purpose becaouse she was on lunch.....I was VERY sorry to intterpupt her lunch 60 min before close, apologiezed, payed for my bread and left. You can't stack your groceries without it going off. Why is the older person who moves slower on the registers while the younger people are watching self checkout? read more

Its certainly my favorite out of the grocery store options within the area. The prices tend to be slightly higher, but the variety in the food options makes up for it in my opinion. If you can, I'd recommend ordering a whole pizza near the veggie / bread area, continue shopping for the next 20-25 minutes, and picking it up on the way out. It's not always a 5 star pizza depending on whose working that day, but its better than most pizzas in the area in my opinion. They could certainly use more check out staff. read more

But that is just technology can't do much about that... What' should be able to have be fixed is customers waiting 8 minutes for the woman working to stop flirting with some guy that is never going to date her. Very clean and organized Harris teeter. They seemed to lack an extremely diverse inventory but had the staples of most HT's. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking spaces and easily accessible carts. Bathrooms were relatively clean. We used self checkout and it was a breeze. read more

I have 3 kids ages 6 and under and a husband who works midnights so I rely on grocery pick up for my sanity. I went to pick up my order tonight, drove the twenty minutes to Harris Teeter with all kids in tow, and forgot my wallet. I told the lady (Maureen) when she was bringing out my groceries and asked if they accepted Apple Pay which they didn't. I told her my sob story and she told me to take the groceries and call her when I get home to pay over the phone, that way I don't have to come back. It's about six months now and I have been to this Harris Teeter at various days and time just too see how things fare. First, this is one of the smallest HTs I had ever been to. The HTs in DC and VA have way better hot foods and way more selections of items in general. Unlike the HTs in the neighboring states, this HT does not sell alcoholic beverages. For goodness sake, even the Safeways, Giants and other grocery stores in other states sell them. Heck, in some states, they sell alcoholic beverages in their CVS and Walgreens. To be fair, state regulation does not permit Maryland to carry alcoholic beverages in grocery stores. But this not a gripe about Maryland state regulation. Let's start with the pros: clean. It should remains so. For goodness, it has not been opened that long. Also, they do sell legumes and grains: barley, faro and have better selection of beans than the nearby grocery stores. Flowers are pretty and fair in prices. Cons: lack of produce as I find more selections at the nearby Giant, which I also return and do most of my shopping there because their fruits and vegetables fare better there. HT market their regular fruits and vegetables prices as high as the organic prices at other stores. But the quality does not equate to the organic values. Even though we don't eat a lot of meats, HT has very few selections as the meats area is very small. The sandwich and pizza areas - sub par quality. Better and cheaper sandwiches at Wawa. Better and cheaper pizza at MOD - all nearby. Less than a minute drive, less than 5 minutes walk. The soup and salad bar, not fresh. The soup pots are not kept clean. Of course, people spill soup when they buy them. But it's the staff's job to make sure this area is kept clean at all times. Crust are formed when spillage are not wiped clean. I have witnessed this a few times. Asian bar - not a lot of options. Again, most of the times, they are not fresh. They appeared to be leftovers from the day before (possibly DAYS even). Sushi area - decent as can be for grocery store sushi. Bread area - limited types. Again, more at nearby Giant. What, No Krispy Kreme doughnuts? The worst thing is that you lose value points on your HT discount card if you don't shop there on a regular basis whereas Giant and Safeway allow you to keep your value/discount points even if you haven't shop there for awhile. The bottom line is, every time I shop at Giant now, I feel like more people are returning to it for whatever reason. This is evidenced by the full parking lot - just as it was full before HT opened. read more

I like this store and the employees are usually very friendly. However, during what's happening with Covid, I feel that if I'm wearing a mask and gloves then the employee checking me out should at least be wearing gloves. If he's touching all the groceries of all the customers he/she is checking out, then I'm bringing all those germs back into my house. Out of respect wear gloves. Harris Teeter advertises that you can order online and then pick up the food. Great right - No, its a lie. HT requires you to schedule a day and time for pick up, however, all dates and times are filled up. They said this has been an issue since March 16th, 24 days ago (as I type). However, they have not changed their system one iota to make things more accommodating, i.e. putting more employees on filing online orders as opposed to working their normal jobs at the store. They do this because HT knows that if you are in the store you will buy more items than you originally planned. It's very simple. They value profit over their customers' health/life. read more

I don't normally share this type of review but it's necessary. I just leftover $300+ of groceries in the store and here is why: I signed up for the Harris Teeter E-Vic program due to the weekly specials. In the same day I happily went into the store and purchased most items that were on sale. During that time my phone lost service and I was unable to connect to my account. The discount program offered through Harris Teeter is free. When I was ringing up with Erica she immediately said I wouldn't get a discount because my account was inactive, apparently it takes an entire week for this service to get "set-up". Her manager, I believe his name was Earl followed up with there is nothing he could do as the Manager. I left my groceries and lost an hour of my time away because the Manager could not help me with a no cost program to receive discounts in the store. My purchase would have required an active phone number. The Manager couldn't provide an active phone number or store account to assist? He was not willing to offer any potential solutions, just shrugged shoulders and an "oh well" leaving a huge amount of groceries for his staff to put back. I'm sad for the people who work there and the lack of problem solving for all of us invoked. No one wins with this type of response from management and in this season of Covid that's a shame. We all know what it takes to shop ins grocery store these days and there are so many options why not spread joy, be helpful and be more solutions oriented? I'm taking my dollars and going to another high end grocery that values their customers. It's important that consumers know what type of customer experience they will experience at this local Harris Teeter. Needless to say I won't be back. read more

Its cool that they give parking for parents with children but have witnessed too many times ""the parents" just push their baskets into the handicap and vet spots and leave. They should move the parking for them elsewhere. Or remove them all together. read more

I'm giving the store a 3. The bakery and deli people are nice but I had a problem because my $25 for my RX never showed up. Management said there was a glitch in the computers the day I filled the RX. It showed on my receipt but I didn't get $25 off at the register. Went back yesterday, bought a bunch of stuff, no $25 off. The management throws a phone in my face and tells to talk to whomever was on there. I told her forget it I don't have time. When they first opened everyone was so friendly and helpful. They smiled and asked if you needed any help. Now they're just another place to shop. The store is nice but some of the people, management in particular, are not. What happened to the smiles, the helpfulness,etc? The food they have, ribs, turkey beasts already cooked are wonderful, but I stick the ribs in the oven for about 45 minutes so they fall of the bone. read more

I needed a photo cake and edible photo sheets for cookies to serve as favors for a 50th wedding anniversary party. Tia, the head of the bakery department, went the extra mile to help, and provided exactly what we needed, even though they had not done the photo sheets before. She also safeguarded the only picture we have of our wedding. When we picked up our cake, she gave us a sweet 50th anniversary card. Great people, great service. read more

This is probably one of the worst grocery stores I've shopped, and now I won't go back. Once out of every three or four trips there seems to be some sort of issue, either a pricing or fresh food quality issue. This last visit was it. We wanted a variety of seafood for a dinner with friends. I requested two crab cakes from the display case, and when they were wrapped the price was different from what was advertised - not an eVic thing, rather they were shown as price per pound but packaged as price per. They refused to honor the advertised price, so I gave them back. I bought scallops instead. What a mistake, these things were total junk. 10-20 count, and after soaking and rinsing repeatedly for over an hour, I just couldn't get all the STPP out. When I pan fried them, all the solution came out and made a thick sticky residue in the pan. The scallops turned out rubbery and very small. Pure greed to pump them so full. This brings me to dessert. I bought a prepared item, a trifle or strawberry shortcake or something. It was relatively expensive, but I thought maybe it's really good. Nope. It was literally Twinkies cut in half and a boatload of Cool Whip covered with canned strawberries. F for effort on that one HT! Anyway, I did contact corporate with all this and someone did call me back. However, the conversation basically ended with them saying "Sounds like everything was resolved, thank you for shopping Harris Teeter!" Jokes on them, I won't be anymore. read more

Loved and enjoyed shopping at Harris Teeter, aisles are stocked, clean and cashiers are awesome. Unfortunately, I will not be shopping at this location again after today's experience. Cashier was training an associate as per manager Whi's demand during my check out. Both employees were courteous and doing the best they could, a sale item did not ring up sale price and they in good faith attempted and thought they removed and manually put in sale price. Upon checking receipt I realized they charged me twice for same item and I attempted to correct at customer service. Manager Whi was rude, loud and sarcastic. She asked which cashier took care of me, I was not sure of cashiers name and attempted to communicate if I can check receipt for name because I did not know. She then blurred out rudely " You don't know which cashier took care of you, or which number?! She proceeded rudely to call cashier after cashier until I recognized cashier. This behavior was bizarre and made no sense. She caused a scene and wasted valuable time, I live over 30 minutes away and had seafood and meats in bags...she was provided receipt all I needed was a refund for the additional charge. She continued talking over me, repeating what I was communicating and snapping and addressing her employees in a belittling manner. This behavior was offensive to watch and hear, she stated well the reason she was calling a gazillion people is because she's not suppose to do returns. I said it's not a return, it's a refund...she rudely said return, refund it's all the same thing! read more
