I was so excited to try the weekend omelet breakfast they prepare fresh in front of you. I was salivating over the though of the fresh veggies, meat, and eggs that are just a few feet away from the omelet station... but do you think they use that? NO. Inside the station I saw, already chopped, old veggies and prepared pizza meat. But wait- there's more! They used a liquid egg product!!!! Each ingredient should have its own tray and utensil, but that wasn't the case. The attendant touched the meat, veggies and bagel with the same gloves. What a disappointment!! Moved to the neighborhood about 8 months ago and have yet to have a successful trip to this store. I am a Harris Teeter regular as they are on just about every corner around here. Every other store I have been in has had some type of common setup. This one however makes no sense. I left completely frustrated today as after going up and down every isle 3 times I still could not find what I needed. I asked a stock person, a cashier and a manager. Not one person could help me. Left once again without items on my list. I have found myself making sure to stop at other Harris Teeter stores near my work or on my way home as opposed to shopping at the one right next to my house. read more

Come here regularly for their Starbucks drinks to groceries. First, their Starbucks baristas are outstanding.. always friendly and treat you with a smile. And they always get your drink right. Sometimes I'll ask for additional condiments like add whip cream to my latte, and they'll be forgiving to not charge me because it was extra, not regular part of the drink, unlike one of their previous managers, Sandra, who was quick to charge even if I was not aware. As far as grocery shopping, the place is always clean and organized except when the extreme couponers come in and just hoards and disorganizes the shelves, and basically clean out the stock for something they don't even need. Store, prices, and offerings are great! The staff in horrible and I can't imagine how much $ the store is losing daily due to poorly trained staff. Staff is not focused on customer service, very casual and have no idea what they are doing. It is my neighborhood store but I will start driving to Trader Joe's as the experience there is so much better. Also, new deli employees are awful - I asked for 3 things to be sliced and said I'd be back in 40 min to get them. Came back 1 hr later and he hadn't done it...said he was too busy with customers...HEY MORGAN, I am a customer and I was here first - that's how it works. Oh I hate Harris Teeter everywhere I go. The Aldie store on my way home from Dulles at 23:00 is only open. I would love quiet, but those stupid noices!! There are no freak in pigeons in Aldie! 99% of the time, I have stopped there, an item has had the wrong price. It takes 15 minutes to find someone to fix the problem. The non-union under paid employees no nothing, have no clue what is going on there. The prices are so high, I shop, and put it back its ridiculous!!! The lactose free milk there is $1.00 more, 1/5 more then Martin's, a sub of Giant. Terrible!! I hate HT!! Even in Alexandria, It was pathetic... Never again!! read more

One week ago at around 7:30 AM, I was checking out my merchandise at Register 1 at the Harris Teeter in Aldie. It was the only available register and my cashier was an older gentleman who was working rather slowly. A middle-aged Indian woman from Self-Checkout, who I believe also works at Customer Service, came to Register 1 to help bag my grocery. Suddenly, a young blonde woman whose name-tag read "Jenny" approached us and very rudely shouted at the Indian woman who came to help me. She began yelling with no apparent reason; I felt so bad for the Indian woman who looked to be on the verge of tears. Is this acceptable behavior? Can Harris Teeter, who prizes their employee's customer service and conduct, allow this sort of disrespect to one another? read more

This is the BEST Harris Teeter in DC! Location, Presentation and Quality of the Staff is Beyond Reproach! The crowd during Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner from the surrounding DOT, Navy Yard & Metro have this place full. They offer WiFi and there's a Starbucks as well. You are able to visit here and shop and grab some food to eat during your visit. The place is extremely clean in the isles and public rest room. I'm impressed as the staff attempts to greet everyone passing through the doors. I invite you to stop by to take a look at this place and judge for yourself. This is my local grocery store and they are the absolute best - I am very happy that this is the store in my local shopping center. They're open 24 hours which is a huge bonus - 2 RedBox machines inside are a nice touch too. The staff is super friendly and go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied. Found what I thought was a good deal on bottled water here a few months ago, however, I was charged more than what was posted. When I went to complain, I was informed that the great deal was for VIC members who had registered their email only. I had used my VIC card to make the purchase and was surprised to learn that the deal was only for "EVIC" members. That was silly. On another visit, I forgot my VIC card. I made purchases to include some bandaids for burns. Later when I needed to use one of those bandaids, I found out the bandaid gel was all dried out for the entire pack! Since they cost about 10 dollars, I brought them back for a refund. I no longer had a receipt so I expected a store credit. Boy, was I surprised to find out that the store policy is to not issue a refund unless you used your VIC card to make the purchase. They said that is how they track stuff. I said the only reason I am returning the bandaids was because they sold me some outdated old bandaids in the first place and I explained that when I needed to use the bandaid because of a burn I discovered that they bandaids were useless. They showed no concern. When I pointed out they should probably pull the rest off the shelf I got the impression that they would not follow through checking into whether their stock was defective. I had to see a manager to get a refund and even then it was not easy. I am pretty appalled by the customer service and will think twice before I shop at Harris Teeter's again. I do not plan to return to this location ever again because of the treatment I received. It shouldn't be so hard to return defective merchandise. read more

I have shopped at this store at least once per week for the last six years. So let's just say I'm qualified to comment on this joint... Ahem... There's a lot that's good about HT and I'm not going to focus on that b/c it'll take way too long; and plus it's so much more fun to bitch about the stuff that annoys me. So let's focus on that, shall we... The Deli Counter.... I'm pretty sure HT hires their deli counter workers from the same resource pool as the DMV. These are the most miserable, un-friendly lot of people you'll ever meat. Get it?... "meat"? I slay me. Come on deli people, crack a smile everyone once in a while. You get to slice pepperoni for a living. Can't be that bad. Just sneak a slice now and then; that'll perk you up. The Beer Aisle.... Admittedly, I am a bit of a beer geek and have fairly high requirements, but HT is at the bottom of the god damn heap when it comes to craft beer. It's a sad day when Giant is better than you at ANYTHING. And Giant's beer selection FREAKING CRUSHES HT's. And let's not even talk about the beer selection at Wegmans; second only to Total Wine. Anyway... I have sent numerous emails to their beverage manager begging and pleading for them to expand their selection but it seems that their distributors have them by the balls. Lastly... Isn't it nice how all the cashiers politely ask "Did you find everything you were looking for?" when you check out? Well next time, try saying "no, I didnt find X". You'll see that said cashier wont be able to help you and doesn't seem to care. HT - I love you but you need to step up your game. If they opened a Wegmans within 5 miles of here; you'd be crushed like a small bug. read more

My favorite grocery store. Whenever you ask someone where an item is they actually take you to it, they don't just say 'aisle 5'. Always very clean and the people are always friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait in a long line. The lady and man at the sushi counter is awesome! They will give you a sample of the rolls she is making. Very fresh. Good selection. Convenient. Hands down the best grocery store I've ever shopped at. Open 24/7 they are always very clean and and fully stocked. They have awesome customer service and are very attentive. They have an amazing return policy and they pay attention to their registers. If needed, when busy they are quick to supply cashiers and open more registers. The prices really are ridonkulous, but if your living in this area I'm assuming you can afford it! If not they have their VIC membership card that's free to sign up for! read more

Very clean. The self check out systems are horrible, the touch screens barely corporate. The staff are very friendly. The lady at the register forgot to give me my eggs after the bagger reminded her to grab them. Once I got home I realized I did not have the eggs so I called in; customer service said if I bring my receipt in I could get new eggs. Well lucky me the ink didn't print 90% of my receipt, I didn't go back in. I do love that they have Veteran parking! read more

I stop by this HT for last minute items (and I try to bring a coupon), but I normally shop at Wegmans and Lotte for most of my grocery needs. Wegmans is expensive, but comparable to HT and a much better selection, and sometimes less expensive. I'm not sure how HT rotates its stock, but I've had several times where I have purchased items only to find them expired, or found items expired on the shelves. I've turned it over to customer service, only to be met with 'oh.' ----- OK then! There are some gems at this store, and that is their older employees. They are so sweet and always make an effort to help if I could not find anything. The new employees (high school kids?) always ask if I found everything okay, and are rude when I say I did not. One kid actually interrupted me and said, 'Look, I don't know what that is, or where I can find it' - really?? I don't see him working there anymore, so his behavior (or school) may have been a factor. The Starbucks always has long lines, and used to be really great with a woman named Sandra (the Sbux manager?) managing. Now I'm not sure who manages. There is an awful lady named Deonderia (sp) who always gives attitude. I'm not sure why she works there if she is so unhappy, she seems too new to have that much of a chip on her shoulder. The Double Coupons! I clip an occasional coupon, and when it's double coupons time, they double coupons up to $2.00. This is great, especially since HT prices are so high. I am not an extreme couponer, however, I've seen a few ladies with their binders going up and down the aisles, ready for a deal (and good for them!) However, when I'm looking for one item with my one coupon, and the entire stock is cleared, it's frustrating. Customer Service is usually no help on when the stock will be replenished before the Double Coupon sale ends. Don't get me started on the meat/fish section, there is a guy who works the afternoon shift who acts gruff with you if you ask him to portion out fish. He must be Deonderia's brother. read more

There is not a single thing to complain. About this place. Its convenient and the grocery and reasonably priced. Not to mention it's super close by! There is even a starbucks inside. The grocery store itself opens 24/7 and yes I have tried going out at 1 am in the night to grab a couple things. Its also really clean and well organized. Easy returns and great customer service. Way better than giant. Make sure to sign up for a VIC card to get more savings. They email weekly specials as well which sometimes include free stuff. read more

Normally, I am always happy about the products and service. I truly like that you can find the unusual at teeter. I went for the basic on Sunday, coffee and milk. I normally buy their fat free quart of milk. When I got there which was a little past 4pm there was only one quart left which I quickly grabbed. I was surprised that the supply was so low. Lately, I have noted that resupply has been slow. Hopefully, they will get this in order. I do, however, love their specials. I have saved significant money by monitoring their specials. read more

Store is nice, new, and clean. Sushi is really good, especially for a grocery store so far out of a major city. My only beef, pun intended, and this goes for most Harris Teeters, is that their meat and seafood selection is poor. This Harris Teeter has a Starbucks in the store. The espresso machine was broken 3 out of 14 days. The register in the Starbucks has been broken, you order your coffee and then you pay in the grocery line. I think the most disturbing thing is that there are bugs flying around in the pastry case. When I spoke with the manager about the bugs in the pastry case, her reply was they know that is why the have the Starbucks employees leave the pastry wrapped in plastic. Harris Teeter management did not seen concerned about bugs in the pastry case. This Starbucks is not consistent with the high quality of other Starbucks. Maybe the Starbucks needs to be closed down. read more

My experience here was fantastic in one aspect and ok in another. My advice, remember to keep your receipt, some items may be out dated. Bought some raw nuts here when visiting family living in the area. Silly me, I didn't check the expiration dates. I also didn't keep my receipt. Luckily enough, after a little convincing the store clerk and manager I was working with agreed to reimburse the cost. I would have hoped it was easier to return without the convincing, but I'm happy with the result. That's the ok experience. The fantastic experience? They have Gardein products in their freezer section! Anyone who has tried these knows how addictive they are. For anyone thinking of going the plant based route, buy these, they are fantastic. I got a few of of these to help celebrate a Very Vegan Holiday. Would have been even more super fantastic if they had the Sir Kensington Fabanaise, but maybe next year? read more

Love this store and it's convenience... but you pay for it. Prices for produce and other stuff is over-the-top. But again, it's clean and convenient. And they have a Starbucks! Score! You can get better-looking produce for 1/3 -1/4 the price at Costco or one of the local Asian markets like Lotte Plaza or Global Market. Global Market is less crowded. coming from pa to va and no acme, shop rite etc. is a real shock. had no choice but to shop harris teeter. not impressed. must check all food for expiration dates, to be on the safe side. bought a large pack of stewing beef, froze it to use, when defrosted, i had to throw half out hidden underneath all fat. this store does not know how to cut deli meat or cheese-cheese was all broken on the ends and turkey asked to slice thin was nothing but broken pieces. i stopped buying all above mentioned items since i really feel that i should not have to go back to return food items. i sure wish they were more alternative's in food shopping in va. going to giant and aldi more and harris teeter less-too many problems with items. iceberg lettuce threw 2 out due to being totally rotten inside who the heck is going to return lettuce, but meanwhile you now have none to make a salad..................... read more

This is my go to store. I finally have to say something. This store has gone down hill. It is getting dirty and could use a thorough cleaning and/or remodel. Lately I have noticed that the front end is being run poorly. There are more carts in the parking lot then there are in the store. The other morning I saw a cashier sitting on the counter of their check out lane - got time to lean, got time to clean. The last several times we have been in we have had to bag our own groceries. Where are the managers? This use to be a friendly neighborhood store. Knew all the managers. People use to say hi. Disappointed what this store has become.
