We ordered the eggs Benedict and prime ribs. The word from our consumers is that it is pretty much tasteless. The prime rib hash I ordered was made with old cuts of leftover meat and mixed root vegetables. It tasted like a prime rib you've forgotten in the fridge for a week. We were very disappointed. We were looking forward to this stop but will never return again. Not a good use of $80 for three breakfast menu items with water to drink only. read more

Just because we are in Covid there is not an excuse for bad service. First of all the restaurant has some rude employees. They weren't very friendly and I'm sorry I am in the customer service industry and I know what it takes to deliver exceptional service. Covid should not be a reason to deliver bad customer service. Spent over $89, and I even gave the guy at the cash register a $5 tip because I know how hard it is. Gave me a lettuce wrap instead a of California burger and then my New York dip had no flavor plus the sweet potato fries had a hair. Then I went to the country store to look at all the decor ( this was before we got out meals). Spent another $100. Mid road trip I look I my bag and to see that they forgot to put my jerky in my bag. Called and said there was nothing that can be done because I was already long gone. There just be something that can be done especially with the newer technology. If you are a service based industry then good customer service must be provided. We all must learn to adapt and delivery is key. Learn to smile and be friendly a little bit because people need that now a days. read more

We stayed in a king room with a pool view and balcony, and it was a pretty spacious and nicely furnished room. Pros: Two sinks in the bathroom, a coffee maker, the pool view was nice, and there is a cat that seems to roam around the hotel grounds. Cons: You will smell manure 24/7 everywhere--it's an incredibly pervasive smell, the dinner and breakfast is very expensive, and while the dinner may be worth it the breakfast is not. Quite literally, it's $16.50 for two eggs and bacon. Ridiculous! read more

Harris Ranch was a perfect stop in between LA and San Francisco on our way to the Redwoods. I didn't know what to expect but our room was comfortable and we had a nice meal in the restaurant. They even do full service in-room dining including real plates and cutlery which is unusual during COVID. I would highly recommend this if you need somewhere during your travels! read more

Had a very bad dining experience. After lunch I asked for a cake with a candle for my toddler, our server refused and explained they have no candle policy because of fire hazard since tables were set outside in a tent due to pandemic. Few minutes later they served a cake with 20 candles for other table next to us. When I asked for manager to find out the reason for such discrepancy he confronted me with wrong attitude and raised his voice. Then I mentioned staff training and consistency of service, he started yelling and used inappropriate language. read more

My favorite place to stay on my way to Oregon. I was traveling with my two basset hounds and wanted a safe and pet-friendly place to stay overnight. It is a great place. There is a pet relief area at the back of the hotel, but many other places for the hounds to sniff along the way. My one observation- the pet rooms would benefit from tile or vinyl flooring than carpeting. I would have enjoyed the restaurant and shops, but wasn't about to leave the dogs alone! read more

Great little oasis in the middle of nowhere...be advised that yes, if the wind shifts you will in fact smell the manure! When we first checked in we didn't notice it, but after dinner heading to the pool a breeze had kicked in and we were like oh, there's the cows! (And the flies!) Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable and roomy. Would have slept much better with a 3rd pillow and an actual duvet versus the scratchy thin blanket that topped the bed, but overall decent room from the price, unique experience and friendly front desk service. Probably wouldn't stay again but overall an enjoyable couples getaway. read more

This was our first time here. Myself, hubby and kids. I reserved a room by calling the hotel it was quick and easy. They also made my reservation for the restaurant. We arrived about 2pm. Alex assisted me with check in. He was really helpful and helped me choose the perfect room with a great view of the pool area because I did not want to have a view of the freeway. And it was ready early upon my arrival which was a plus. I really liked our room 202. It's a little dated and the carpet was dirty. I think carpet it so gross. But other than that it was a great suite. The king bed was in a separate room with the balcony attached. The other room had the sofa bed in it and that bed is right when you walk in. Both rooms have flat screen TVs. Our room didn't have a microwave but they did have one available down in the lobby so we were still able to heat up our leftovers from dinner the next day. We did use the pool and jacuzzi, it was really relaxing. The landscaping is beautiful. The pool does have a bar and you can also order food. The restaurant is right next to the hotel, so it's walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay and made some great memories as a family. I really do hope they update the rooms, especially that gross carpet that's dirty. The bed was ok. It is old and sinking in. I would have given 5 stars if the carpets weren't dirty. read more

As snowbirds with an RV, every Spring and Fall we stop at Harris Ranch Inn to spend a special night at the Inn and have a nice steak dinner. This Fall we stop like always. We paid cash for our room, but left our credit card for incidentals. We checked our credit card today and we had a $24.99 charge from Harris Ranch Inn. I called and talked to Alex at the front desk. He said it was for a bottle of water and a Chardonnay. I explained to him that we did not use those items. In fact, we didn't even know there was a mini bar in our room. Once at the hotel, we immediately went to dinner at the restaurant and came back, went to bed early and got up at dawn to get back on the road. Alex was insistent that they did not make a mistake and we had used the items charged. I asked him did he think I would lie to him for $24.99? Where was the customer service. I asked to talk with the manager. He put me on hold. A few minutes later he said he would credit our account but said I shouldn't stay in a room with a mini bar ever again so I wouldn't be charged. That was so very rude. Not very customer service friendly at all. Side note: it really smelled like cow dung outside the 15 hours we were there. Buyer beware. read more

We checked in after a long day driving and wanted to nap. They were working in the room above us and for over an hour we heard constant banging. They started again the next morning at 6:45 and woke us up. When I checked out the front desk only had "sorry about that" to say. Disappointed since I asked for a quiet room at check in and was charged an extra $20 for an inside room. The room was clean and the pool area looked nice. read more

A friend, her kid, and I stayed at the Harris Ranch Inn over the weekend to break up a road trip from San Diego to San Francisco. The pool and Inn grounds are even nicer in person than in the photos. The young women working in the hotel lobby were friendly, helpful, and kind. They let us check out late so we could enjoy the sun and the pool before getting back on the road. It was really lovely and spending several hours going between the hot tub, the pool, and the extra-comfortable poolside lounge chairs really made what could have been a stressful trip feel more like a mini-vacation. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. At first the smell seemed intense, but either we got used to it or it faded, because none of us noticed it while we hung out at the pool. The servers in the family-style restaurant were friendly and accommodating. Everyone just seemed happy -- like this is a good place to work and spend their time. As a frequent business traveler, I can tell you that this is rare. All around great experience and perfect customer service! ONE MORE THING - PLEASE SAVE THE CATS AND KITTENS! They are gorgeous, they appear to be clean, and they are the perfect balance between friendly and stand-offish. We heard rumors that the manager does not like them and plans to get rid of them, but we are hoping he has a change of perspective and heart. They truly added to our experience and to our affection for the Inn. We even talked about driving instead of flying between SD and SF so we can return to check on the cats and play in the pool... read more

We were staying on the first floor when we could hear right above us several bodies jumping and running back and forth. Contacted the front office about this situation and they responded that they would call that party and express our concerns. Well, that didn't help it continued. I physically had to go to the front desk to talk to the manager. The manager stated that they would send security to talk to them and if it continued they would move us but we would have to pay the difference because it would be a suite, are you kidding me? We shouldn't be charged anything for being an inconvenience. At 8:50 pm the jumping and running started again for several minutes. It finally stopped at 9 pm. I am so frustrated with how the management handled this situation. Please don't come here because their fix here is move you but charge you more. read more

The restaurant and hotel are very good...and stink. The place is truly farm-to-table, in that the table is in the middle of the farm. The steak dinners give excellent value. If they don't match the best places, they are pretty close behind, at about 1/2 to 2/3 the cost. They do cocktails well, and the wine list, although limited, is fairly priced. Because we drank, we also stayed the night. The room was spacious and clean and had nice bedding, towels, and bathrobes. The pool was large and inviting, but this is where the stink comes in. As already noted, the place is in the middle of a large cattle ranch, which means the aroma of cow manure wafts across the property. It was sort of a turn-off for swimming. But then again, I am a city slicker. read more

I used to love stopping at the Harris Ranch Inn, but these days the rooms are extremely outdated and very old. When I say old I'm not talking about the rustic look, it's like staying in an old run down hotel. Harris Ranch is financially capable of upgrades/ remodeling. When I had to locate a maid to get coffee pods I found her in a room she was supposed to be cleaning sitting in a chair texting! I'm afraid this is my last stay at Harris Ranch. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at this BEAUTIFUL place!!! All the staff and the manager Victor had excellent customer service skills. The pool is incredible!. The room was huge, clean without nasty carpet, The best thing is that when u enter this Inn you forget that you are in Coalinga, NO OFFENSE! It's a. dry, flat, place in the middle of the desert!! And then you r enter this breathtaking Greenberg's lush paradise!! Would I stay again!! YES!! Thank you to all the employees who made our stay AWESOME!! MY CONS..... We recently stayed at your Hotel (4-17-22), we were in room 260. The room was modern and clean and comfortable. However the walls were paper thin and it was very very noisy making it very difficult to get some sleep. We arrived at 3:00 am as we traveled in from Central Oregon. The check out was problematic and I have yet to receive my folio at my email address as promised. I have phoned your accounting department and found them to be quite rude and very condescending. This review is mainly about the hotel with a little about the restaurant. Originally booked two beds. As soon as we entered the hallways inside the holiday, we were immediately struck by the smell of a putrid cheap cleaning solution. We switched to a bigger room away from the highway (guest suite for over $200/a night). The walls are paper thin, sheets are super itchy and scratchy, pillows are uncomfortable, and beds are lumpy. Very hard to sleep in, ended up getting minimal rest. Shower doesn't run warm water for more than a minute. Restaurant food - the meat tastes like it's from save-mart. Very low quality and gristly. Go down the road and you'll see the cattle are treated horribly. The pool looked nice, but I didn't swim. I'd avoid this place at all cost. read more

Bit disappointed. ALWAYS look. Forward to stopping here on the way to the bay area. Get chicken fried steak, always good. Bit pricey at $23 but usually very good. Pool security failed to show a rule about their policy for speakers. Security continued to tell us inconsistent rules for speakers before calling the sheriff and removing us from the property. Security "Clay" and "Crystal" couldn't tell the sheriff what we did wrong and instead stated that they simply "wanted us to be removed from the property". Victor, the head of the property was accessible by phone call from crystal but was unable to come and address the problem to our group. The rules here are unclear and apparently you will be kicked out despite the majority of the pool defending/enjoying the music you are playing. Avoid "Clay" and "Crystal" they will harass you. read more

Stinky. Mostly the area. I'm about to become a vegan. Jesus. How anyone could want a steak while staying? I'm incredulous. Dated rooms. Depressing really. Also, this place is close to so many great wineries, why do they have the same wine selection as the local save mart? Hire someone to redo the wine list. The almonds are good. I gave the extra star for the almonds, and also the staff was very courteous. Best thing at HR. They sell wines but don't include a wine key in the rooms and you can't borrow one, someone has to come use it in your room. Awkward. For 200 a night I'm sure they afford to put a wine key in the rooms. Probably cheaper than the free cookie. Additionally I checked out the gas station. I was going to get a side salad to go with my tuna and apple I brought from home. Seriously who could eat here smelling the source???? There were like 50 flies in the sneeze guard. I'll pass on the diphtheria thanks. read more

Everything was just fantastic! Room, customer service, bed, they even had mouthwash in the bathroom! We will definitely stay there again!

What a wonderful place to stay on the 5. The property is gorgeous and reminded me of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn. Stunning pool, lovely rooms, and the restaurants are top notch. The room was perfectly equipped with very comfortable beds, great coffee service, and proper linens. The pool and grounds are impeccable with a colony of feral cats that are so sweet! The tv channel choices were limited, but the parking was ample and room access is easy and convenient. You really cannot beat the food available at this hotel, and the bar has Hendricks gin. Winner! We've never had anything but exceptional food while staying here with some amazing vegetarian choices including some of the absolute best grilled vegetables I've had. This is the place to stay when traversing 5. We will be back, for sure! read more

I have been coming to Harris ranch since it opened many many years ago and have always loved and appreciated it... still do. I travel between SF and LA a few time a year and I was VERY surprised and disappointed this trip. I recently bought an electric hybrid and was honestly shocked to discover that Harris only accommodates Tesla. There are lots and lots of your customers, including myself, who have electric vehicles that are not Tesla and on my trip just assumed that Harris would be thinking of us, too. I realize that Tesla most likely stalled and paid for the stations, but they are on your property and so represent you. I am sad to say that from now on and until this is remedied, I will very regrettably have to find another place to stop on the 5. . Normally, I would give you 5 stars. KINDA SURPRISED I HAVE YET TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU. read more

Harris Ranch Inn is probably one of the best places to stay within a 100-mile radius. One could call it the Beverly Hilton of the Coalinga. I stay here often for work related reasons so I've probably been in most of the various types of rooms and areas of the property. It's interesting that Harris Ranch Inn is here really; I mean, it's a favorite destination for wealthy farmers, wealthy passers-by, and wealthy carnivores from LA and SF (see where I'm going with this?). A friend of mine actually races his buddy in an airplane (my friend reportedly speeds in his NSX) from the Bay Area here to get steaks--loser pays for the steak. Food is expensive and rooms are in the 150-250$ range. However, the quality of both is pretty high and definitely welcome, especially in contrast to the stark nothingness of the Central Valley. It could be that my opinion is clouded by the fact that the other places I've stayed in the Central Valley are so bad, but I'm a fan of Harris Ranch Inn. Ok, so things I like about the Inn are first and foremost: They give you cookies upon check-in. Yes, I'm a fatty but it's really nice to have cookies haha. They took this trick from Doubletree. The rooms are large, with lazyboy recliners and large bathrooms. Heating and cooling controls actually work! I posted a bunch of pics of the rooms. Some of the rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave. One thing that I wished was better was their workout room--when I look for hotels I actually will look for a good fitness area first and make my decision based on that. Anyway, here, they have like three pieces of dated cardio equipment and a machine-weight thing. The problems with their weight machine include the fact that that grips/pads are worn down and the fact that the weight isn't enough (rawr hulk!). Service is pretty good here; though the last time I stayed here they gave me the wrong key and I had to walk around for 10 minutes with all my stuff. The staff, interestingly, are all super-young at the desk. I haven't decided if this is good or bad. One last thing; yes there is methane and cow smell in the air--refreshingly, for the most part, that smell does not permeate the rooms here. (sidenote:where did all the original reviews go?) read more

We stopped overnight on our drive from the Bay Area to San Diego. I've been zooming past Harris Ranch ever since I was a little kid on our annual trip to grandma's house, back when we called it the 'stinky cow place'. But, this is my first time ever setting foot in the inn. Based only on my observations of other small motels along Highway 5, I was expecting something along the lines of a cheap motel with a wagon wheel stuck on the wall. I'm happy to say I was completely wrong. We were efficiently checked in at the front desk in a large, well-appointed (yes, western-themed) lobby building with couches, coffee and water, and a small shop. The friendly front desk service even included a couple of cookies from their restaurant. The property is much larger than it appears from the parking lot, with a number of buildings surrounding a large central courtyard and pool. The pool itself is huge and inviting, with lights that slowly change color at night. The grounds are meticulously kept - which is always a good indicator of how well they maintain the overall property, including the rooms. Our room was very large, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I wouldn't exactly call Harris Ranch a luxury property, but we were really VERY pleased with our stay. Breakfast in the restaurant was a delicious way to end it. If you're looking for a place to spend the night along the I-5 corridor, you can't do any better than this! read more

I've eaten in the restaurant here several times while going up and down interstate five but never stayed in the hotel. It really is an oasis as they say in the advertising. This is not a five-star hotel with every resort amenity but it is a clean safe comfortable place to spend the night or several nights. The pool is immaculate, the grounds very well kept, the staff very friendly. And as to the restaurant? Every member of the staff honestly looked happy and pleased to be working there. Not just some phony smile. The food, though a bit pricey, was outstanding. I'm not usually a steak and eggs guy but the tri-tip with breakfast was really worth noting. Chandra took very good care of me. read more

I have got to say, my husband and I have stayed at Harris Ranch many times in the past and really enjoyed it.It's been a while since we've stayed here. The last time we stayed here,we were woken up at 7:45 in the morning from a yard maintenance worker blowing the grounds. When we told the office, they said "oh, that was a fluke." Well, it's not a fluke. This is the second time in a row that this is happened to us and we haven't been here in a long time. In addition, our room was directly behind a room marked private and people in that room have loud booming voices. I don't recommend staying here if you actually want to sleep. Another thing I want to mention is, their water use is excessive. They have a swamp going on in their lawns. The rest of California is in a drought but they feel free to use as much water as they feel like. I'm obviously cranky from lack of sleep as we went to sleep at 2 o'clock in the morning and were woken up at 7:00 AM from some loud banging noise that wouldn't stop from the room marked private. Don't stay here if you actually want a good nights sleep for your travels. read more

We really enjoyed our stay. We would've given 5 stars but there were many items dirty in the room quilt, blankets, robe and coffee cups. This was our fifth stay here over a long period of time during a number of trips to the Northwest for family visits. Sometimes we break up the trip into three days when coming home. We're not quite as amenable to 12 hour days on the road on the way home. When we do that, the second night is usually spent at Harris Ranch Inn. As always, we were politely checked into our nice, clean room with central air and local thermostat. We were a little later than we planned so we ordered in-room before it got any later. We had a wonderful Porterhouse and Cesar salad dinner. All of the meat, veggies, breads and fruits were products of Harris Ranch. We love this place a lot and always look forward to our stays. A word to the wise. Part of the appeal to us is that this is in active, working agricultural area. America's Breadbasket. Yes, you smell the fertilizer that is regularly being used in the process of growing various crops. Sometimes it is strong and intense. If you aren't the type for that type of experience, I'm sure there is a cookie-cutter hotel/motel up the freeway for you. For those that like to be surprised by a great experience, do yourself a favor and stay at the Inn and eat at the food here. read more

This hotel is very relaxing. Walking the grounds you never would think you're in the middle of no where in central California.
