This hotel is very relaxing. Walking the grounds you never would think you're in the middle of no where in central California. The staff are all very friendly, they have a nice big pool area and two smaller hot tubs. It was nearly 100 the day I stayed but it was still nice to put my feet in the hot tub. The rooms are large with a nice big bathroom. I love the fact that there are two sinks. One inside the bathroom and one outside. I stayed here just one night in passing through on a long drive. I wish this was a hotel I could stay at longer. They also have room service available at a somewhat reasonable rate. read more

No masks here, some bar employees not wearing them. Ate dinner at their outdoor set up and very bad. I had a prime filet and it was inundated with garlic salt. Why would you do that? Wife had prime rib which was good. The waiter delivered our food and we didn't see him or talk to anyone until they brought us a check. We asked for desert and after dinner drinks and we were served. Be prepared for a million cow flies attacking you while you try to eat. For the price, it's a joke. Although their pino noir is excellent read more

Unfortunately I arrived at Harris Ranch expecting far too much. I had always heard it was a very fine establishment. We are knee-deep in the coronavirus and they are not mandatorily wearing masks they are playing in the pool my bathroom floor was all wet when I arrived there were no Bellman on duty I'm nearly 70 there was no access to my room by car. I gave it one star because you have to in order to write a review. I thought it was a five star establishment. Noted above 3 1/2 stars. Overrated. read more

So my Husband and I were married here 13 years ago. We have celebrated our anniversary here many times. This time was the worst. Let me first start by saying my Husband retired this year after serving the United States Marine Corps for 20 years. Upon chrck in we were informed they would not honor the military discount rate for our room. After check-in we went to the pool. Service there was horrible. We ordered a round of drinks they gave us one glass of champagne and we had to wait 45 minutes for the other glass apparently it needed to be chilled. The next morning we went to speak with the manager Linda to see if they would honor the military discount She flat out said they only give military discount to service members who are here on work related incidents and really had no other words for us. customer service was just not there from her she was not personable. We ate dinner at the restaurant I must say the service there was great food was amazing but sadly we will not be celebrating any more anniversaries here and that is sad because this is the place we were married but I will not support a place who doesn't Honor a military discount to someone who Has served this country for 20 years and recently retired as a disabled vet. so disappointed with you Harris Ranch PS there were two large hairballs in the shower of our room upon checking in when we were in the lobby waiting to speak with Linda there was also a customer complaining about the bottom of her feet being black due to her room floor being dirty read more

My husband and I have stayed at Harris Ranch at least 20 times over the years -- as recently as last Wednesday night. When we checked out, I made a new reservation for tonight and was assured that we would be given the same room. When we arrived this afternoon, we were given a different, upstairs room and told that the room we requested on the ground floor had been given away and that their were no other poolside ground floor rooms available. Our request was in the computer, but it went unnoticed. We are huge ambassadors for HR. Really unhappy with today's mistake. read more

Huge fan - my go-to stop when traveling between San Jose and Fullerton. Very homey, nice fitness center, and great staff. Have never been disappointed. Special bonus points for the cookies at check-in. Rooms are quite large, and the price is right. read more

This place has the potential to be great, but fell a little short on our recent trip. I want to start off by saying the staff was super friendly and helpful! So We booked a deluxe sweet and got assigned our room, after a two hour drive we were anxious to get to our room and get to the pool. When we went to our assigned room it looked as if someone just checked out-aka not cleaned at all, everything a disarray. I went to the front desk to get a new room assigned, and they said they only had some on the third floor or we can wait for another to get cleaned, even though we had specifically requested the first floor. I feel for paying that extra money for the deluxe sweet we should've been assigned a clean room on the floor we wanted. We then went to dinner at the Harris ranch kitchen, and the food was pretty good but we felt a little like the menu was misleading. We ordered the chicken dish which said it came with Mac and cheese and some mushrooms etc....but it didn't come with either it came with a scoop of mashed potatoes. Which we felt the server should've notified us that there was a menu change because the sides was one of the reasons we chose the chicken! Maybe it's just because they just reopened we had these minor mistakes, maybe we will try again this summer to see if these inconveniences can be fixed! read more

What a gem! We came from Sacramento for a mini getaway and had a great time!! We stayed in the Presidential Suite - worth every penny! It had a fireplace, jetted tub, lots of space, a comfy bed, and an awesome private front entrance with a patio. The pool is gorgeous and the restaurants are great. The cookies they give you at check-in are amazing! We went to the bakery to buy extra! I can't wait to go back! read more

No AC in the room. We adjusted the room temperature to 70 degrees and it never got cooler than 79. Outside the air was cooler than inside the room. We stayed one night on the way to Southern California. They put us in an ADA compliant room, we are not disabled. I did not reserve an ADA compliant room. The room type we reserved was Triple Crown Patio Balcony King. It was a Thursday night and they were not busy or full. The person at the front desk said, "you're only staying one night?" And then they put us in a room where the lights the the bathroom shorted out and turned off if you touched the vanity mirror. Clearly this room is not suitable for guests. We were looking forward to our stay. We drive past all the time, and it was my birthday and I thought it would be fun. It looks so nice from the outside. We will just keep driving from now on. One good thing...The cookie they give you is delicious! read more

Might want to stay away from room 149. Very noisy. Literally the hot tub is steps from the sliding glass door where you can hear every word spoken from the people in the tub. The door to the hall way is right out the front door as well as the elevator where people don't use inside voices. I just had some guy persistently knock on my door. I finally asked him what he wanted and he said nothing. (?!!) Foot steps above are loud due to, I'm sure the elevator as well as the same door to the outside hall way. It's going to be a little my night. I don't have the energy to ask for another room and move. The first time we stayed at this hotel (two nights ago) it was pure delight. We had a room upstairs overlooking a field. The rooms are Spacious with simply decor and clean. If I ever stay again it won't be near the elevator, hall door or next to the spa/pool. We booked our rooms a few weeks ago. read more

Cool place to stay. It's quaint. Old fashion - very ranchy. It was very clean & smelt nice. Our room had a king bed and was very roomy. My husband loved the recliner! It only has a shower - but it's a large shower. Double sinks. Micro wave and refrigerator. Coffee pod maker with all the fixings. Our room had a little balcony with 2 chairs. In the evening it was nice to sit out there and relax. Cute place to stay. read more

My husband and I stopped at Harris Ranch Inn on 1-7-2020 ticket # 327/1 server Javanni at 5:30 pm. Our steak was delicious, however the broccolli was so raw it could barley be cut, the squash was a mushy over spiced mess, the baked potato tasted like it was either re-heated left overs from the night before or it had been in a warming drawer for hours. Our server was a pleasant but inattentive busy visiting with other workers. I sent the raw broccolli back and got another serving of crunchy nearly raw broccolli. We were never asked how was your meal, is there anything else I can get you. On our way out I asked the two front desk people if they cared about how our meal was, they just looked at me, so I asked again and told them these issues, they offered me a complaint card. For $117.36 I get a complaint card. We obviously did not give the suggested tip. Do not waste your time and money at this over rated excuse for a steak house. read more

This place is a godsend if you are driving I-5 from LA to SF (or vice versa). I like to stay overnight to break up the long drive. The Inn has lovely grounds, is clean and comfortable and is safe and secure with 24 hour security. The staff is always friendly and cheerful. One complaint: twice when I have stayed there, I have tried to order room service (there is a room service menu in each room) and have been told, "I'm sorry, but we aren't doing any room service today because......."!!! OK. Can I come over to the restaurant and pick up a meal? "No. We are not doing room service or take out meals today!" Not much of an explanation that makes any sense. Three night ago when I was given the room service runaround, I sat out in front of the hotel in my car waiting for a parking space and watched as FOUR DIFFERENT WAITERS carried meals from the restaurant to the hotel!!! Four! I even asked one of them, "Can I order room service meals from the restaurant tonight?" Answer: "Yes, of course. Just call room service from your room." (the very same room service that had told me an hour earlier that they were not delivering room service or preparing take out that day/night!!! Such a shame when everything else about the inn is so welcoming! read more

My family and I Really love this hotel!! Very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The people at the front desk were really nice. They gave us complimentary cookies and they were amazing! I like that it's off the road a little ways and it's quiet. 176$ isn't too bad for one night. read more

Great midpoint oasis on the 5 on the trip between SoCal and NorCal, even with the cow smell. Comfy king bed, spacious rooms, a terrific shower, beautifully landscaped interior courtyard with an inviting pool, and excellent food!! The only blemish ( sadly, a big one) on the enterprise is that their gift shop features the constant blaring of country music and overwhelming presence of " Christian" books without a regular newsstand within. That little store kind felt like Klanville, Mississippi. read more

The inn has beautiful grounds, building and pool, but the rooms are dated. However my biggest issue is that we were there on a Monday night after school let out. The hotel allows workers and their families to use the pool pool facilities unrestrained. They were ordering Little Cesar's pizza, swimming and drinking soda in the pool. All completely unchecked by management. Guests who pay upwards of $200/night cannot enjoy the pool for the noise and disruption. I have nothing against employee appreciation but control and limit it. 20 children of workers 7 to 12 year olds eating pizza in the pool until 11:00pm on a Monday show a gross lack of respect for the paying guest!!! read more

I am very disappointed with this place I stopped here because I have been sick and couldn't drive any longer. I informed the girl at the desk of this and also I had stayed here before and got a military discount which she asked me if I was active or retired. I informed her I was retired she told me she didn't have any standard rooms and m6 room would be $170.00. When I got in the room the smell was so bad from whatever products they used made me sick. If you have to use chemicals to make your rooms smell good then something is seriously wrong. Nothing compares to the smell when I got into the bed tonight it actually stinks. There is no way this room is worth $170 a night. I will never stay here again! read more

Fantastic place to stay. Our car broke down and we didn't have a whole lot of options. While this hotel was the most expensive in the area it was still affordable and the money was well worth it! The service was impeccable! Everyone was very friendly and they went above and beyond. We were able to check out late which we were so grateful for since we were still waiting for our car. Also, they had a shuttle free of charge to take ya to and from the auto shop. They stored our bags for us. And it was pet friendly! So happy to have stayed here. Thank you so very much to everyone who works there for your kindness and professionalism. read more

I stayed here on 2/3/18. This is truly a beautiful hotel but the hospitality here is even better. Upon arriving and Expedia not having all of my information at the front desk properly when I checked in, the manager kindly comped us $30 off the same room and quickly accommodated us with other welcoming gifts. What a pleasant surprise on an already beautiful place with food that is to die for. We will be back again and again. Room 233 has some of our most special memories that we will treasure for years to come. read more

Harris Ranch Inn...you, you are superman, my knight in shining armor, an oasis in the desert. But, you knew all that, it is what has set you apart for some 70 odd years now, keep at it, you are fabulous. I first came across Harris Ranch on a trip from N. Cali to Phoenix. Not an easy drive, I might add. It was getting towards dusk and we had already passed the last marginal bit of hotels and restaurants, Ramada Inn, anyone? Yelp kept trying to turn me around and head back to the dreaded Ramada but I paged past the first 20 choices and Voila...Harris Ranch. It was meant to be. The clerk asked if I wanted a dinner reservation, umm...yes, not having eaten all day, not a restaurant in sight and it was closing in on 8pm, yess...I will take one. And so the adventure at the Ranch began. We had cocktails at the bar and I marvelled at its masculine, California cowboy, rich rancher, maybe I do have a couple kentucky derby winners in a stall or two back at the ranch kinda swank. Bourbon is their "thing" at the bar, turns out it is mine too. Fresh everything with limes, lemons and oranges is also a thing...you guessed it, I like the fresh citrus as well. We then took our seats at dinner, enjoyed some amazing beef, incredible service and headed to our enormous room, closed up those black out curtains and dreamt! I didn't mind getting back on the road and finishing up our drive. I can't wait to go back. Surprisingly, it is a pet friendly hotel. A lot of folks had their furry friends. I'm quite pet friendly but when I know the hotel is pet friendly and I'm not in New York for the Westminster kennel club, I'm worried. I'm real worried, like I don't want to stay there worried, not so with Harris Ranch, it is pet friendly and perfectly gorgeous...You can stay too, with or without Fido, enjoy! read more

Out in middle of nowhere, along Hwy 5, we stayed a night at his beautifully architectured, elegant Hacienda style Inn. The lady at the front desk said it was the smell of $$$!! HA! read more

I love this place but the concierge Laura and her supervisor has changed my whole opinion. I had traveled a week ago to take of a ill sibling. My sister had paid for the room both ways. To and from, when I checked in last week they took my card for incidentals only. My sister and I had confirmation emails showing she had authorized the room for me. Today on my return stay it was a hassle and handled very unprofessional. My sister had to talk to them send another email give the credit card etc. I also had requested room 105 I did not get that room. Nothing was handled well. We have been staying her for 20 years and I have never been treated like this. They clearly weren't listening when I told them to look at last weeks stay. This a halfway stop for us but I am going to look at another half way spot. read more

My husband and I have enjoyed Harris Ranch Inn for over 30 years! We cut our driving time in half by including a wonderful evening at Harris Ranch. We enjoy the pool at the Inn and the restaurants are wonderful. Today, we arrived at the Inn at 4:30. To my surprise we were not greeted by the hotel staff. The young gal who checked us in had a attitude and was extremely curt. When we finished the check-in process I waited to see if she would offer us the delishious cookies that we so enjoy. She did not. I politely asked if she had cookies and her reply was "Oh yea, and pulled them from a drawer that she was standing directly in front of. Just going to say, what a major turn off! Here's hoping the restaurant staff is as excellent as it has been in past years. I will do a follow up review on the dining experience. read more

Nice oasis in the middle of nowhere. We stayed in a family room/suite. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is a welcome escape in the heat. The room was nice and the AC worked well. This place is a conundrum to me. I loved the idea of the place when I booked the room there however it went downhill once I got there. Since you are next to the farm when we arrived on a Saturday night the smell from the farm was overpowering outside. Kudos to the people enjoying the pool because it was pretty rank outside (the were postings for a pool bar and I wish I had gotten there early enough to try out the pool). My wife and went to the Prime steakhouse for dinner and was a little disappointed. Both of us had the Cowboy cut ribeye and it was alright, not worth the price. The sides, gouda mac and cheese and asparagus, and the cheese bread stole the show. The next morning the smell was gone (shifting winds maybe) and we tried the Ranch Kitchen Restaurant. This place I will come back for. My beef hash breakfast and my wife's coffee sage rubbed steak were both excellent. Service from front desk to restaurants were excellent. I would go back again for a night as a break in driving but wouldnt spend a weekend there, dont see much to do there. read more

Was travelling from Northern California (Point Arena) after staying at our GEVC - Global Exchange Vacation Club Cottage and were ready to settle down for a great evening meal and miles worry rest stop. We have always eaten at Harris Ranch, when travelling to and from San Francisco but never stopped to rest for the night. We decided to stay this time, on our way back to our home in Hemet, CA. After dining - a super meal as always - to include the best service by the employees, we went and checked in for the night. We were greeted by the most gracious Front Desk person; whose name was Haley Horton. She welcomed us as though we were "old time" friends she hadn't seen for a long time. Such gracious Hospitality. Having worked for Marriott Corporation for thirty years (now retired), she reminded me of the exceptional service and hospitality I was accustomed to giving and receiving during my employment years. Such a treat. We were given a "Custom King" on the first floor (rm #160), because I am partially disabled - rheumatoid arthritis in my left hip, which I told Haley about. The room was exceptional and well equipped, clean and extremely neat, and "just right", for any traveler. Awesome. And oh, the cookies at check-in are a super treat. Upon check out the next day, the Front Desk Employee - Carolina, again, made us feel as though we were the "only" guest to stay the night. She too was exceptional and treated us fantastically. I can honestly say that the Harris Ranch Inn in Coalinga, ranks right up there in employee service and product accommodations with the very best of any Marriott product that I have stayed at, and had the pleasure to manage in my thirty years. I commend the over-all Management staff and Executive Committee, for doing an excellent job in recruiting employees such as Haley and Carolina, and I encourage them to continue to do so, as they continue the Harris Ranch legacy. read more

I would personally like to thank the night staff on 9/3/2018 around 10:00 pm . Our car broke down on the grape vine and kept over heating from Buttonwillow having to keep pulling the car over every 10 mins only going only 40 on the free way . We finally had to throw in the towel and had a family member drive from San Jose to pick is up at Taco Bell on the opposite side of Harris ranch . We decided as a group maybe the best thing to do is to leave the car and come back the next day with a trailer to take the car back to San Jose . So we decided to ask Harris ranch inn and I didn't think they would let us keep the car there since we weren't staying at the hotel but at this point it was late and we still had almost a 3 hour drive so I was pretty darn desperate . We walked in and there was a patron being help for quit a lengthy time maybe it just felt like that because I was tired but the hotel employee went to the back and grabbed someone for us . Now the point of no return ....a very nice gal came out with a very nice bubbly attitude and I explained my situation and without hesitation she said ABSOLUTELY And it wouldn't be a problem at all . We just had to fill out some paper work so security wouldn't tow the car because they watch the premises every half hour which was a relief . I just want to say thank you times a gazillon bazziollon and how grateful we are to let us keep our car there over night ! I apologize that I didn't catch your name but I hope upper management recognizes your kindness and your superior customer service . Thank you Harris ranch ! My wife and I were talking about how nice it was inside and we would love to stay there in the near future. read more

This is probably the worst customer service possible. We were seated and ignored. 5 other parties came in, were seated, acknowledged, brought their drinks and orders taken and still we were completely ignored. When we asked to speak to a manager it took several minutes for someone to come to address our complaint. The lady that came to address our concerns was equally rude and had no regards for the lack of service by the staff. And acted as if she didn't even care what we had to say. We will never stop here again. Terrible service!! read more

Loved this place. Food is good. Even just the pool is great for a short weekend getaway. We did have one small problem with our room which was quickly and completely resolved by the management. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone just looking to get out of town for the weekend without having to travel too far. Ya, the place can smell like the stockyards, but there are just stockyards nearby. It's not a deal breaker. And again a " Thank You" to the management for resolving our issue so quickly and thoroughly. The employees there are great! read more

This is a very nice resort for the price. The room was very nice and clean, with a little patio. The pool is huge with a big hot tub as well. We ordered drinks from the pool phone. You can definitely smell the nearby cows outside while sitting by the pool. We experienced good service all around. There is definitely a party atmosphere here with groups staying together, drinking, and celebrating, which is fine until we wanted to get some sleep. We had people playing music and talking in the next room, the adjoining door did not block the noise well. We also had people above us that were active as the ceiling was constantly creaking. When we complained to the hotel about loud music, they took care of it, but the music was shortly replaced by loud love making! As we were staying with our kids and were only 3 hours from home, we decided to call it and left in the middle of the night. The hotel was very nice to only charge us half price. If we were more lucky to get quiet neighbors, I would give a 4 star rating. The price is right, but you are forced to over pay for the food at the hotel restaurants as there is not much else around. read more

My family and I were on our way home yesterday and stopped at Harris for lunch. Food was good, but service lacked tremendously from the moment we were arrived at our table. Once waitress brought us to our table, table was still dirty from prior group before us, took about 3-5 minutes for table to be cleaned. After being seated it took about 10 minutes to get a drink. After about 10 minutes after being served our drinks, we waited for our server to take our order, but no one came over though there were at least 5 waiters in our area caring for other stations not caring to see that we've been seated for quite a while with no assistance. Finally, the guy that brought drink we were able to flag him down and asked if we can place our order, he stated he only takes drink orders and will get our waiter. Took 15 minutes till she arrived to place our order and the bread that is listed on the menu that is I believe complimentary with our order had to be requested. After so long of waiting, I had to ask someone to check for our food which took an hour to get our meal and we were a party of 3! Drinks needed to be refilled but waiters in our area just kept passing up our table and talking amongst each other not caring if customers needed assistance. I couldn't believe we needed refills and the table next to use that was being cleaned for a party of 8 to squeeze all up in one round table had 4-5 waiters at one time trying to clear the table. I kindly asked if we could get a refill and was ignored. I asked 2 more times nicely and I can tell waiters heard someone calling them for refills, but they just ignored us. So, I literally had to yell out for their attention! I'm not one that likes to be rude, but I will not allow people to be so disrespectful to my or my group. As we headed out passing through the middle area seemed to have a better flow and waiters were on point with their service. This was our first time and SERVICE SUCKED LIKE HELL, for our experience. I would recommend retraining employees that were in the area in the way back because they lacked BIG TIME! Therefore, my review is based on the service. read more

We love this family and their community! They saved our Christmas this year. Back story: I have been going to Harris Ranch for years and loving it every time. I especially love the people who are truly caring and professional. Well, this year, my disabled elderly sister was trying to come visit us for Christmas when she got lost for hours on 99, and pulled over by the police who thought her slurred speech meant she was drunk (she has difficulty speaking due to a brain injury and a tracheotomy from a bad accident) by the time she was released, there was no way she was going to make it to our home in time for Christmas eve, so I called up Harris Ranch and they held her one of their best rooms. They even called when she didn't arrive for a while to let me know, and corrected mistakes on the new directions I sent to her through them. When she arrived, they treated her like long lost family, carrying her bags to her room and helping her with everything, even giving her a late check out. I cannot say enough for these wonderful people and this lovely hotel. It is not just an oasis of hospitality, they have created an oasis of the heart in the middle of a wilderness, and they were our Christmas angels. God Bless!!! Special shout out to Hayley, Carolaena (sp?) and Viktor, among others. P.S. We also vote to save the cats... :) read more

I wanted to take the time to thank one of the employees of Harris Ranch. My husband and I were traveling with small children and had poorly planned the length of time it would take to get from Southern California to Sacramento. We stopped at Harris Ranch and although they did not have a room for us, Danilo Scalia-Nalos spent over an hour with my husband helping him find alternative accommodations. It was in the middle of the night and his gracious help was sincerely appreciated. We'll be sure to book a stay the next time we travel through this area. The hotel is beautiful and I'm sure the rooms are very nice. If the other staffers are half as great at Danilo, it'd be a wonderful vacation! read more
