Giant line at 8:20 am on Maine Maple Weekend
    Jocelyn A.

Harris Farm is home to a CSA full of lovely veggies in the summer, a pumpkin patch in the fall, a cross-country ski paradise in the winter, a sugar shack in the spring and a year-round source for yummy local dairy. Information on all of these delights can be found on their well-designed website. My personal experience is limited to their celebration on Maine Maple Sunday (2018). My husband and I picked Harris Farm for our Maine Maple Sunday celebration because they make everything (not just the maple) on their farm. You get farm fresh butter on your pancakes and farm fresh milk to wash it down. This (all-you-can-eat) pancake extravaganza is only $8, which I thought was a steal given the quality (and how much I can eat). I would highly recommend it, but be prepared for a looooong wait. While waiting for breakfast, I also checked out their farm store. The farm store was fully stocked with homemade flavored milk, regular milk, and butter. They also had ice cream, but I don't think it was made by Harris Farm. People were really stocking up on dairy, so I'm guessing everything is excellent. I tried the 2% milk and I can attest to its quality. If you are looking for a place to spend Maine Maple Sunday (or Saturday), Harris Farm is a wonderful option. You could even make a day off it and cross country ski after breakfast. We are lucky to have places like Harris Farm in this great state of Maine!

Pancakes, sausage and blueberry milk on Maple Weekend

I came here on Maine Maple Sunday 2018. When looking over the list of almost 100 farms participating in MMS, my wife and I found it almost impossible to decide where to eat breakfast. Harris Farm stood out to us though because they offered farm fresh butter and flavored milk with their all-you-can-eat whole wheat pancake breakfast (which was only $8!). We obviously weren't the only ones who thought Harris sounded like a standout, as the line was down the road by the time we arrived at a little after 8:15 am. We ended up waiting for about 1.5 hours to eat, but we didn't mind, as it felt like part of the MMS ritual. We took turns leaving the line to check out the sugar house, sledding hill, cross country ski area and farm shop that are also on premises. The farm shop was really cool, as you could buy their entire line-up of farm fresh flavored milk (banana, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, blueberry) for a reasonable price. When it came time to eat, we knew we had picked the right place. The pancakes melted in our mouths, the homemade butter was perfectly salty and rich, and the blueberry milk was the best milk I've ever had. The syrup was good, but it was light, and not my favorite of the day. Harris Farm is a great place to spend MMS and it looks like an excellent place for all of your winter recreation needs.

    Long line at 8:10!

This review is more for Maple Sunday than anything else. While we have frequented their store, we typically only buy milk, which is always delicious. So, Sunday. Having been there before and missed out we decided to get there at 7 for an 8 o'clock start. Worked perfectly, we were first in line! (though we lined up at the wrong spot and a few groups headed to right spot, deciding to ignore the line that was forming behind us, so we ended up maybe 10th in line). Beautiful morning, warm in the sun, cool and brisk in the shade. We got in for the pancakes right away. The prices had gone up from previous years to $10 for adult pancakes, $4 for one pancake for a child, and meat $2 per serving. A little pricy in my mind, but it was delicious. Of course all of their milk selections are included with breakfast. We all got some pancakes, some got sausage, some got bacon. And we all tried milk. The blueberry milk was overwhelmingly everyone's favorite! Pancakes are homemade and even being one of the first few in we had to wait a few minutes for some to finish, nice and hot! The sausage was ok, seemed like the 'Brown N Serve' links, but tasted good in syrup. Bacon was nice and chewy. The dining room was nice and warm and sunny. If you want more pancakes, you go to a window behind where they are being cooked and ask for more. After breakfast we headed across the street for donuts in maple sugar and some maple cotton candy. All delicious and priced good at $1 per donut, and $4 for a huge bag of cotton candy. Took a tour of their sugar shack and back into the fresh air. By this point it was 10 past 8, they started serving early, and the line was already long down the road, to where we were last year. Last year I might add, we waited in line 2 hours and never got pancakes as we moved forward only about 10 feet, so we bailed. Get there early if you're gonna go! At this point a horse drawn trailer pulled up, and they were selling rides. At $5 for adults and $3 per kid, we realized we'd be spending $28 for a roughly 4 minute ride. Decided against it, seems a bit overpriced. Overall we had an excellent morning. Great food, great milk, great weather even. And such a pretty drive to get there. Minus a star because I feel things are getting overpriced here. Years past this has been a great place, but definitely seems like they want to make even more money from it. Totally get it, just might try somewhere else next year. However, if you can get there early, don't mind spending a bit of money, or just want some super excellent milk, this place will be just right for you. If you're looking for a good time at good prices, this might not be for you. Overall we spent close to $100, then again we have a huge family. But still, for a total of 10 pancakes, 2 orders of bacon, and order of sausage, some milk, 12 donuts, and some cotton candy, just seems high... right? Well... you decide! Give them a shot.

    Superb cross country ski grooming.

I came here for the skiing. I wanted groomed trails for skate skiing. The terrain was top notch. The grooming was excellent, with touring tracks laid out next to ample space for skate skiing. There seemed to be endless acres with hills, forest, open fields, flat areas, and more space than you could cover in a day. Good trail map. Not crowded. Perfect snow today. The farm shop was an added bonus. Nice people. A lot of things to buy. I couldn't resist picking out some milk and eggs to bring home. Another good thing was the full service ski shop! They were able to put new bindings on some old skis for me. Overall my experience exceeded my expectations with so much space to ski, perfectly groomed trails, and the good stuff in the shop. I will definitely go back to ski again.

Get your pick on!…read more Had a fantastic time with the family picking early season raspberries, apples and peaches. The orchard grows a ton of different apple varieties so there's good picking during the full apple season. We got to choose between Zestar and Jerseymac apples during our visit. I'm a big fan of crisp and tart so the Zestars fit the bill. Peach picking was a bit of the same only fewer varieties. Raspberry picking was a fun new experience. You're essentially hunting and the fruit that is ready to be picked will slide off their cone-like cores. Since it was early in the season most of the berries were small or immature and there were a ton of bees buzzing around. I mean a ton where you'd go to pick and they would be buzzing around your hand. Don't worry though! The bees are friendly and indifferent to your picking the fruit. Just be gentle. Pro tip: come on a day where there's a breeze. We went on a still day in August and it was hot! 90 minutes in the sun and we were feeling pretty crunchy.
