What a great orchard with a nice variety of apples! Employees were super friendly and we had a great time.

McDougal orchards was the real deal people! Besides having multiple kinds of apples to pick (outside and socially distanced also inside the farm stand for purchase) they have multiple kinds of pears, peaches, plums and raspberries. This place was beautiful, well kept, and very welcoming. Captain Jack's hot and fresh cider donuts were to die for! We will be back for those alone. Many family fun activities for Maine Apple weekend including corn maze, scavenger hunt, and fairy village. They also had jams, jellies, honey, maple syrup for purchase alongside home grown squashes, gourds, pumpkins and mums.

I loved every moment at McDougals. I went there late last fall and even though a lot of the apples in the front were picked there were still a lot of crunchy cortlands and sweet mcintosh hanging out in the back section. When you come here do yourself a favor and wait till the donut shop is open and help yourself to a disgusting amount of those fresh cider donuts. We went just a little after they closed and got a bag of the mini ones and I was in a sweet, doughy, cinnamon sugar dusted heaven. Grab some cold cider to wash it all down with and then let the sugar carry you through the apple picking fields. Everyone was really nice when we were checking out and they don't mind if you eat an apple or two while you walk around. I loved the friendly vibe and groups of families and couples strolling through. I have to go back next fall!

They have so many apple varieties to choose from. It is a great experience to pick your own apples and other fruits.

Sometimes, you are out and about driving in an area you don't know so well (because you volunteered…read moreat an event in what feels like the middle of nowhere). And, on your way home, you drive by a sign that says "Maple Cream Donuts" and even though it's crappy out and you are tired and really want to get home - you pull over, turn around and go back to see what this sign is all about. And, sometimes - that was totally the right call. This is what happened to me this Saturday. I wondered into this cute roadside farm stand looking specifically for the donuts and was overwhelmed by all the other lovely items that kept distracting me. This was a very full farm stand - with fresh vegetables, a decent selection of other grocery items (milk, butter, eggs, etc) as well as some farm raised meats (steaks, bacon, pork, etc.). All in all, I purchased a variety of items - mostly maple based, as it was Maine Maple Sunday Weekend. The good news - that Maple Cream Donut more than lived up to my imagination. When I got home and opened it to eat it, I thought to myself - I'll just pick at this, eat the good parts. Well - lo and behold - the WHOLE THING WAS THE GOOD PARTS. I devoured that donut. It was so good - maple frosted, perfectly raised donut, and filled with maple cream filling. I was blissfully happy. I will figure out a reason to get back to this area just for this donut!
