I come here at night and weekends for drinks and the service and music is really good. I recently read that they serve brunch on Sundays. My friend and I were craving pancakes and bloody Mary's. A lot of brunch places in the Wakefield area stop serving at 1 or 2 so we specifically chose Harrington's because they serve brunch till 3:00. When we arrived at 2:30, the hostess offered us a table. When we told her we wanted brunch she said it was too late. I reminded her that it was only 2:30 a her response was, "well by the time your server takes your order it'll be too late." WTF. Came here with a group of friends for brunch a couple of weeks ago, really craving an Irish breakfast. Sad to say my expectations for this place, which weren't that high to begin with, were lowered. A lot. I'll just get this out of the way so if you don't care for my ramblings, you can get the gist. The only thing this place got right was the Perfect Pour of Guiness and my Cobb Salad. We got the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer, which were just wrong. There was absolutely no cheese, and any cheese you did find was burnt to the chip. Also, the pork had no flavor, like bbq at some places. It was just unseasoned pulled pork. For entrees, my Cobb salad was big and had a good amount of avocado and chicken on it, so I was content. Everyone else? Not so much. The Black and White sausage was neither, it was just grey and flavorless. The potatoes were all right and the eggs were over cooked. Also for the service, we were the only customers in at that time, and our waitress was very hard to chase down. She didn't seem like she was familiar with the menu, as I was telling the others what a B+W sausage was, and just didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Not too happy about my experience since its a nice little place with a cool bar setup. I would return here for that perfect Guiness pour, but other than that, I'd pass. I feel like I'm being generous by giving this 2 stars, but I only really reserve the single star for places that utterly disgust me, and this place has potential, if only some effort were put into every area. read more

Bd. C. could possibly be a maniac. I have been going to Harringtons on a nearly weekly basis for the last 6 years. The "candles" they refer to are indeed made of wax however a quick look inside said candle would reveal to ANYONE other than the legally blind that they were clearly a faux candle with a light inside. This person probably also tries to eat wax fruit and then blames the person who displayed the fruit for "tricking" them into thinking it's real. As for the waitress, she is one of the most professional, courteous severs I have ever dealt with. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a meal, Harrington's is a pleasant experience. I wouldn't say that it's a destination restaurant though - I've never had a meal here that I've craved later. Typical pub food with some traditional Irish specials thrown in the mix. I did once have a phenomenal dessert (a cookie brownie sundae) but when I asked for it again I learned that an outside company delivers the desserts and they only have one choice on any given day. read more

We went here yesterday for lunch when we were out doing errands. A cute Irish pub/restaurant. Nice homemade corn bread is brought to your table warm from the oven. I had a bacon cheeseburger that was very good and my husband had a reuben which was also good. The waitress seemed a bit frazzled by having 4 tables (??) to wait on but she was pleasant. Not sure what people are thinking when they label this an Irish bar??? One item on the menu , a Reuben, and nothing else Irish. They lost the Guinness beef stew, no Irish sausages??? Real issue is the quality of the food. Just so you know, everything is made the night before. Yup the Reuben sandwich is premade. How do I know this, you cant order it without Russian dressing and the bartender said the whole thing is premade and then just heated up when you order. The fries were undercooked and soggy. The spinach/artichoke dip is extremely greasy and I have the feeling the corn chips served with it were maybe left out in an open container??? No crisp, tasted very stale. Not at all impressed and would not go there again. Rather go into Malden, much better food. Anyway, one saving grace, the bartender makes a great black and tan. This place has good pub food, like chicken fingers and soup, at average prices. The bartenders are a little unfriendly though. I have to admit the salmon is pretty good here. Moist and flaky when you cut it, not tough at all, just the way it should be. One last note, they do have a function room here so it may be worth inquiring about. read more

TOO SMALL. Get up from the bar, and chances are that your chair is going to knock someone else's purse onto the floor. The small size creates a very intimate atmosphere. The upstairs area is reserved for groups and special events. Mostly middle age people and older. I had a few beers but the size of this place is just not what I expect from a proper bar/pub, this is compact size. Have fun trying to find parking on the street or in the Bank of America lot across the street. read more

The service was awful. The manager was great and nice. She was rushing around to help everyone and always does. But the waitress was rushing us and gave us our check without asking if we wanted anything else. Mind you I was out with friends who I rarely get to see and we in deed could have gone for another drink. The menu is okay, nothing great. Zucchini chips are good. The French onion soup was nothing great. Call it a coincidence but three out of the four of us woke up with sore throats the next morning. The three of us had the same beer. We've been long time Harrington's customers, and sadly do not plan on returning anytime soon. The service has become horrendous. The waitress we had this evening (not someone we've seen there beore)was the worst waitress we've had ANYWHERE. At 6:30 in the evening, on a Friday night, she was rushing her tables out the door (there was no wait for tables). She took orders, brought the dinner out while we were in the middle of eating our appetizer, never checked back on us to see how the meal was or if we wanted more drinks and brought the bill before we were done with the meal-she didn't ask if we'd care for coffee or dessert, she just brought out the check. This was the service she gave each of her tables. We were seated, had appetizers and dinner in under 30 minutes-ridiculous. We've always been big fans of Harrington's, we love the local pub atmosphere, but it will be sometime before we return. read more

The whole experience start to finish was pretty piss poor . Arrive and wait 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the hostess . Finally seated waited about 15 more minutes for our waitress to Come to our table . My wife got the sheppards pie not bad . Meat was flavorful . we have been there before it was ok... on Friday 10/19 we went here for dinner... 5pm we were trying to get seated. my boyfriend is handicapped and we were refused service for the waitress accused me of falling asleep there before!!!!! they then refused to seat us but again changed their mind.. and told us to leave! we ran out appalled and disgusted!!!!! I believe they discriminated against my boyfriend for refusing to serve a handicapped person!!!!! unless we get an apology you wont be hearing the end of this! read more

Chili and burgers didn't taste and look home made, chicken kabob was delicious though. Nice atmosphere for drinks and pub food.

Had the beef in Guinness it was pretty good but not spectacular. I thought there wound be more Irish food on the menu. The atmosphere was decent but the server was too busy behind the bar on her cell phone to rate it much better. Would try it again if I lived in the area but not out this way that often. read more

I've been to Harringtons many times and I'm surprised to see bad reviews about the food. I've never been disappointed by the food here. I usually go for the steak tips, which are delicious. The Guinness beef stew here is THE BEST!! Highly recommend. Their appetizers aren't awful either--their nacho plate is surprisingly very good considering they're an Irish restaurant and not Mexican. In terms of service, the wait staff needs to be better. Waitresses seem to poof and disappear when you're thinking of getting another drink or waiting for the check. I would also say that most of the time I walk in, the hostess is never there, regardless if it's a busy night or otherwise. I can say this is all pretty standard and expected for Harringtons. I give it a high rating because the food is good and I always crave their Guinness beef stew. read more

Nice cozy place. Excellent kids menu. I had fish and chips very good. Friendly warm service, good value for pub fare food. The place was packed. First off, don't go here if you're in a hurry. The service is slow and a bit harried. It's not BAD or anything, just slow. Also, it's a bit on the loud side. That said, the food is really very good. Terrible service! Horrible food! Dont waste your time or money! Upon walking in we waited an exorbitant amount of time to be seated. I'd guess somewhere between five to ten minutes. We were finally "greeted" by an unpleasant woman who would eventually become our waitress. After being crammed into a small booth near the bathroom, we continued to wait an additional 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order then another 15 minutes for our dinner order. The place was extremely busy so we attributed the wait to that. It wasn't until forty minutes into our wait that we were informed by a drunk patron that Harringtons was hosting an employee Christmas party that night. I can't understand why a restaurant would try to host an employee Christmas party and be open to paying customers at the same time. It was clearly obvious by her lackadaisical service and extended disappearances that our waitress was more concerned with enjoying her Christmas party than being attentive to her paying customers. She forgot our appetizers and instead of apologizing said "well if you hadn't noticed it's pretty busy in here tonight." She also insisted that I had asked for my burger well down when I clearly said medium and never asked how our meal was or if we would like a refill. We were very pleased with this restarant. The meal started with complimentary Irish Soda Bread which was homemade and quite tasty. They gave us 2 baskets. I started off with French Onion Soup which was very good. I oerdered the sirloin beef tips with broccoli. This dish was great and featured a tasty barbacue sauce. My wife ordered the Shepards Pie which was very good. My son ordered the fish and chips which was among the best we ever ate. My daughter's Macaroni and Cheese was superb. The service was good. We are from Maryland and our son and his fiancé asked if they could have their rehearsal dinner at Harrington's. We used the room they have upstairs. We were so happy with our evening. We communicated with Lisa who took care of everything. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As other reviews have stated, the service can be pretty slow so my review cannot be five stars. Besides the slow service, Harrington's is one of my favorite restaurants! My boyfriend and I often go there on Tuesday nights for the $10 appetizer, entree and dessert deal, which always comes with a warm loaf of bread. The servings are always the perfect size and the menu has lots of good traditional Irish food and yummy comfort food. I particularly love the "Cod Cobbler," which is a mixture of cod, cheese and breadcrumbs baked in a stone dish and comes with fresh vegetables and a baked potato. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and they have great Irish music on the weekends! read more

This was our first time at Harringtons, and we were very pleased. The hostess greeted us warmly, and suggested a nice table.Having been to Ireland a few months ago were curious how Harringtons would measure up. No disappointments! The corn chowder which was a special item was rich and flavorful with a nice pepper kick. Their beef in Guinness stew hit the spot, every bit as good as the sampling done in Counties Cork & Kerry. I wish I could give it three and a half stars. We've only been twice, and both were on Tuesday nights where we took advantage of the Irish Specials. The first time, it was just me and my husband, and we had a really good meal. We weren't in a hurry, which was lucky for us, since neither was our waitress. Except when we were ready to leave, it took almost 15 minutes to flag her down, and the place wasn't that busy. Also, we were supposed to get dessert or coffee with our special, and she brought us the check without offering either. So, I grabbed another waitress and explained that we would like our dessert to go. She didn't apologize, but brought us the food. The second time, we brought my husbands parents. We thought the food was worth it, and the price was right. Once again, the food was good, the service sucked. We watched our waitress chat with other staff as we tried to get her attention. The Shepherd's pie is great, the Mixed Grill is filling and a great deal, and the Beef stew is thick and tasty. My mother in law really enjoyed her corned beef and cabbage.
