I initially came here excited and ready to spend money today with my family. I have a love for…read morerecords and have collected them for years. I came across this place on my visit to Monterey and decided I would go and check out the store. I went with my wife and three kids ages 7, 5 and 8 months old. I was carrying my 8 month old in her baby carrier. As I opened the door to the business, an older bearded man with long hair who worked behind the counter prevented my family from entering the store saying that the business was full and he did not want children in the store. He went on to say there was also water damage which is not my problem and completely unprofessional to tell a first time customer. The man was extremely rude and appeared bothered by me and my family. I responded by saying that I would take my business elsewhere and he slammed the door shut behind me like a child! Never have I experienced such a rude and disrespectful attitude from a business. My children asked why the man was so angry and I told them that it wasn't their fault and we would not support a business who treats people that way. I will never go here and will make sure all of my friends and family stay clear of this place. I come from a family with military and law enforcement backgrounds and this man made me and my family feel less than and unwelcome as first time customers! This was a bizarre and wild experience as a proud American to endure.

I'm so glad that I stopped in as I found a rare Tank And The Bangas album that I had never seen before and it was well below the price in Discogs so I had to pick it up ! The overall layout of the shop is different from what I remember and overall the number of new releases available was surprising. Street parking on Lighthouse Ave was easy and didn't require feeding a meter which was nice.

A double smash burger with the right amount of jalapeños on a brioche bun with potato wedges. Everybody that was there that night was talking about them, and I think that burger is in the running for best on the Peninsula. Not kidding. The band was great too, and I always pick up a record or three. Great selection, and every record I've purchased, all in the last six months or so, has been in great condition. Played with no issues. I went in on a Sunday during the day and a trivia game was being hosted at the time. Majority of the records were used and at reasonable prices. Had a nice chat with Jeremy who was working in the record shop area and he mentioned that the business started out as a record store offering a few drink options and over two years expanded into what it is today. What a unique place to hangout in Pacific Grove ! Will be back when I'm in town again for sure.

I particularly like this record store more than Redwood because of the large variety of music genres. I saw how they had some of my dad's favorite bands like REM and carried older albums of my favorite artists. My boyfriend and I were able to score an old Lil Wayne album as well.
