Cool, fun shows. Right now they have a music variety show that looks and sounds amazing especially at the new theater. Their new spot is great! It is on a military base so you'll need to call in advance to get on the gate list if you are a civilian. It sounds more intimidating than it really is. Don't be scared away from the looks of the old building. The sound system and stage lighting are very up to date. We saw London Calling on the last night it was performed. It was written and developed by SA native and Harlequin staff member Shawn Kjos. It was basically a musical revue with no story, but the arrangements REALLY rocked! There were several songs that were combined into one and went back and forth between the tunes. This was especially interesting. The cast was also a very talented crew that was obviously picked from the cream of the crop. The food is buffet style but it was still really fresh and tasty. Parking is very close by with no problems finding a spot at all. The Harlequin Dinner Theater is a real gem in San Antonio. Live performances with local actors. Been going here for years. Super reasonable. $35 for dinner & entertainment. (Can't beat that) Drinks are extra but very reasonably priced. One tidbit of information...this dinner theater was under the ledgendary John J. McCarthy. Joint base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston Dinner theatre entertaining San Antonio Audiences with musical numbers and plays. It's nice to support performing artist and do something unique. Attended the Cocktail Hour musical revue in July and enjoyed all the music and dance the cast perform. You have the option to purchase just show tickets or dinner plus show. It's good for a date night to enjoy something other then the regular dinner and a movie. They served us roasted Cornish Game Hen or London Broil with Jack Daniels sauce accompanied by wild rice pilaf, roasted root vegetables, and French style green beans. For dessert they had key lime pie and carrot cake. The meal was average nothing to worth noting about. The stars are for the performance and the talent on stage. One important note to know is They start off with dinner first and then the show starts after dinner service this is not the type of place where you eat while the show is on. So mind your time we got there at 5:30 dinner started at 6:30 and the show started at 8:00 intermission at 9:00 and ended at 10:00pm. read more

Not too shabby. Definitely nothing fancy, but it's fun to watch plays so close to the stage no matter where they are. They don't do dinner anymore, but they have a small bar and the prices are right - A beer, a double Crown, and a diet coke for $13. :-) read more

An amazing treat of live theater! I hv season tickets for the second year. Great musical reviews, and a great display of comedic timing! If you like cruise style shows, you will love the musical reviews. Always great vocals, enthusiastic dancers and over the top costumes! A real plus is you do not have to be in the military to attend. This place must be one of San Antonio's best kept secrets. Most people I tell have no idea that there is a dinner theater in town. The average person here is over-60, but maybe that is just a reflection of who goes to dinner theater. This place is located on Fort Sam Houston, but is open to the public. The food is OK for buffet. Nothing special, but passable. Rather bland for my taste, but again, probably geared toward the taste preferences of senior citizens. You get a salad bar, choice of 2 entrees, and dessert. There is also a cash bar that has very reasonably priced drinks. The real attraction is the show. I have never been disappointed by the theater. Great shows, great talent, great music. I believe this is one of the best local amateur theater groups in San Antonio, and I have been to most of them. If you enjoy local live theater you need to check this place out. Tickets for dinner and the show are $35, and if you want to eat elsewhere the show alone is $20. So if you are looking for a great cheap date, you cannot go wrong at the Harlequin Theater. read more

Five stars for the performance. The actors were great and I really enjoyed "Death by Design". I was here TDY and looking for something fun but low key for a Thursday night, so I called same day and was able to get a dinner ticket. Turns out, not many people under 50 go to a dinner theater on Thursday nights. Course that's never stopped me before- hooray for old souls! Everything was very nice, but the food was pretty terrible- unfortunately catered by a military club, notorious for overpriced, underwhelming food lacking flavor. However, it was nice to enjoy a performance with an endless cup of coffee. Really cool to have something like this on base. If I went again I think I'd skip the meal and just go for the show. read more

We find this dinner theatre a delightful evening at a very economical cost. Local talent do a good job on stage, the waiters are attentive and the food is fine. You aren't paying for 5 star quality so expect a satisfactory meal and enjoyable entertainment. We go often. N.E. read more

The Harlequin always has great shows. If you have never gone take the time to go. You don't have to be military to go. It is open to everyone. The alternate between musical reviews and plays (either dramas, mysteries or comedies). The talent in the shows are always amazing. read more

The play was awesome!!! Went to see "Legends of Las Vegas" last night with a group of 18. Everyone enjoyed every second of it. For $33 we got dinner ( tea and dessert included) and the show. Alcohol costs extra but is inexpensive. Could not have asked for a better deal of food and entertainment. I remarked that my wife and I just got back from Vegas last week and this show was better that any we saw there. I would recommend any and all to go see and check out the Harlequin Dinner Theater. Trust me.......it will be worth you time and money. Great for an outing or just a night out with your loved one. You WILL NOT be disappointed!!!! read more

I am new to the San Antonio area. I have been her just over a year. In that time I have enjoyed going to the Harliquin Dinner Theatre several times. I have seen mysteries, comedies, and musicals. My favorites are the musicals. The food has always been very good, and the wait staff very friendly and helpful. The actors are some of the best in the area and very funny and talented. Saw The Vegas Review in its last week (Sept 28th, 2012) at the Harlequin. Absolutely delightful! The four person cast changed costumes for every song and there were over 40 songs ranging from Bobby Darin to Tom Jones to Elvis and everything in between. Our dinner was tasty. The volunteer wait staff who work for tips only, were extremely attentive. A most enjoyable night. I give it 5 stars! read more

Great show!!! My wife Tonya and I came down for our 28th Wedding Anniversary on January 14, 2012. We had a blast watching "The Mousetrap", and were AMAZED as we watched/listened to the TALENTED singers performing a variety of tunes after the show. That was an unexpected, but terrific extra portion of the evening's entertainment for FREE. It was nice how the folks made mention of our anniversary to make us feel special. The food was tasty and service was great. You get a full course meal for the price. NOTE: The entire staff and cast/crew are VOLUNTEERS (so tip them nicely!). We met with Michael Berlet (coordinator) after the show and he explained how the cast also supports the USO tour for troops. This group has a big heart to give back through their entertainment - I love it! Volunteering at the Harlequin is just one way they do that. I HIGHLY recommend you see a show. We will definitely return. Yes, the civilian community CAN attend this venue on Ft. Sam Houston.
