I've been in New York for well over a decade, so I'm definitely not a tourist. I am however a bit of a connoisseur of tours. I attended the Harlem Pub Crawl as part of an event hosted by a professional association. The event was advertised as visits to 4 Harlem bars between 7pm and 11pm, as well as drink and food discounts. I arrived to find that the number of establishments had been reduced from 4 to 3. (No itinerary was provided in advance.) This was not necessarily a negative as it meant more time at each venue. However, we ended up spending more than 2.5 hours at Harlem Tavern, the first venue. This was due in part to the bar staff collecting a number of credit cards from the group, and then being slow to bring them back. But there was ample time to sit back and chat with members of the group, enjoy $5 happy hour specials, food, and a free drink shot. (The group was rather large; at least 30 people, perhaps due to the professional association.) From there we went to a second venue "Underbar" that for me was more of an underground dance hall than a bar. We received a free shot upon entering, but the regular drinks were priced at about $10. Because of the loud music and dark lighting, it was difficult to chat with other members of the group, and the seating was limited. But the venue itself was hip, with a warm, modern design, and a dj spinning mostly throwback tunes from the early 2000s. At 11:30pm the group started off for the third venue, Red Rooster, which was about 14 blocks away. There was some debate and confusion regarding walking verses splitting cabs to the venue. At that point, I decided to call it a night and headed home. Having been to Red Rooster before, it's very crowded and bustling, but laid back (with a meet market vibe), offering food, a well stocked bar and the chance to converse with all types of locals. I would say that of the three venues, I think it offers the most uniquely Harlem experience. All in all, I think the Harlem Pub Crawl offers a good taste of Harlem nightlife for people in New York for the first time. You get to have an authentic night out experience at a few of the more popular venues. The experience could be enhanced with some small extras, like being told the story behind each venue, or including a unique signature drink. read more

Bought a ticket, went to the first destination in Harlem, no one showed up. From the pub that I was told to be at I wrote a couple of times with no reply. I asked the wait staff if they knew anything about it, nobody did. Finally tracked a manager who had the cell phone number for one of the people who works at this place. He did not respond until I kept texting. Did not apologize just said it was canceled. Had to ask several times for a refund. Call me, I'll take you around to a few pubs, guaranteed! read more

Great night with the Harlem Pub Crawl. Went with a few friends to the 3 venues. Each place was fun with great drinks and food. It is a great way to spend a night on the town. Hosts were terrific and made it a wonderful way to spend Pub crawling with old and newly introduced friends. read more

Great way to experience some unique spots in Harlem. We had a great time and saw four different bars throughout the night. Harlem Tavern was my favorite, with plenty of drink options and outdoor seating. There was just a quick walk between each bar and the tour guide was great about briefing us on each restaurant/bar before we entered. A free drink and HH discounts at each place too! read more

A few of the issues I had with the pub crawl was lack of space for our group of 19 at Sexy Taco, being taken to a Harlem for Hillary political event was inappropriate, albeit we met some prominent individuals, some of us were uncomfortable because we were there to celebrate a bachelorette party. We were inappropriately dressed to be at such an event, and not all were Hillary supporters, as previously stated politics does not equate to fun with a group of friends sending off a bride. We did not receive free shots at each bar. I also witnessed the taller guide being disrespectful with some group members, and drinking, recording and partying outside of our group. Customer service was definitely lacking. The taller guide also mentioned we were the first group of black women that he'd taken on the tour and brushed off our concerns as unmerited . If I could give no stars I would. HIGHLY disappointed in the manner in which my sister's Bachelorette "crawl" was conducted. The tall man, Mark I believe was very UNPROEFESSIONAL! He video taped us when we danced on the dance floor. He promised shots which were watered down punches, He took us to a Hilary Clinton event which was awkward, embarassing and nonetheless disappointing for us all. Who brings 19 women for a Bachelorette celebration to a political event?? Puzzling! When we shared our disappointment, he yelled and drunkenly argued with a few women. He promised to pay for everyone's cab while traveling from one bar to another, however some women in our group had to pay for their own cabs. Lastly and SADLY one of the women were sexually harassed by the guy. I watched him rub her thigh as he said very inappropriate things to her. She was VERY uncomfortable and upset.I will not and would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! First off the Bar Crawl started great, however as the evening progressed it went from good to bad real quick. First of all, it was never mentioned that we were required to stay at EACH bar for an hour. First bar was extremely crowded and small, we were told that people would be clearing out from the bar and we would be able to sit but that never happened. Only 4 girls out of the 18 present were able to sit. The rest were standing and kept getting bumped by the waiters and waitresses. After leaving Sexy Taco, we went to another located and to our surprise it was a Hilary Clinton event. Yes, it was open bar but it was closed once we got inside, however, we met some prominent African Americans but that wasn't the purpose of our trip. Many girls were offended by this location because they weren't supporters of Hilary Clinton. We were told just to hang out and have fun, but how could you have fun when you are at a political event in which you don't support that person. WE WERE THERE FOR A BACHELORETTE PARTY!!! To top it all off we were given shots of GRAPEFRUIT JUICE! When trying to talk to our guides about our displeasure one of them (EVON) was very hostile and condescending. Next, we went to the Harlem Tavern once again we were told that the bar and tables would be clear for us and of course this didn't happen. Then we were told we wouldn't get our free shots until the end of the hour. The tour guide was very unprofessional, he was drinking excessively and made sexual passes at a couple of the ladies. One lady who was married and her husband is considering filing sexual harassment charges! He also got into a verbal argument with the bride and her cousin. After leaving that bar we were told they would get us taxi's to the last spot, Red Rooster. The tall tour guide I keep forgetting his name maybe Evon, left a group of girls at the Harlem Tavern. He refused to get a taxi for them so he got in a taxi and left them. Once we arrived he act like he wasn't going to pay for a cab stating, "Dang it's only $6!" That wasn't the point you said you would pay for it. Once we get in the club, he gets the round of shots for us disappears. This was a very disheartening experience because we paid $665 for the bride to have a good time and that was ruined. We are educated, hard-working women that were taken advantage of. It's ashamed that when we ran into Erica Alexander (actress from Living Single) she stated that first of all they guides shouldn't have brought us to the Hilary event and that there were other appropriate and nice places that we could have gone to. read more

This bar crawl deserves zero stars. I was very disappointed in the service and bars we attended. There were 19 of us celebrating my friends bachelorette party that traveled from WI, IL, & GA. Which means we spent alot of money to have a great time. A tall man, Mark ( I believe thats his name) was very UNPROEFESSIONAL, RUDE & DISRESPECTFUL! At one point he was arguing, cursing and stood up on one of the friends of the bride to be when she expressed her dislike with the service. What real man argues and uses profanity towards a woman. REALLY!! I saw him video taped us when were dancing on the dance floor. He took us to a Hilary Clinton event which was just unacceptable. I am a Bernie supporter myself, so it was awkward, embarassing and uncomfortable. Who brings 19 women for a Bachelorette celebration to a political event?? At every bar we went to he conveniently drank more that the 19 of us. We shared our disappointment with him and the other guy on several occassions. He promised to pay for everyone's cab while traveling, however some women in our group had to pay for their own cabs in which they were not reimbursed. Lastly, one of the women were sexually harassed by the tall guy. She expressed she was very uncomfortable. I will not and would not recommend this business to anyone. I personally believe the reviews on this page are false. There is no way they deserve one star. read more

POOR SERVICE! This was my very first bar crawl experience and I was very disappointed! My friends and I traveled to NY to have an Amazing time and our experience with Harlem Pub Crawl was NOTHING remotely close to amazing! Our host/guide Evon was extremely misleading, unprofessional and disrespectful... For starters, we were under the impression that we would get free drinks during this bar crawl. I think we may have gotten 2 free shots throughout the entire night, We all bought our own drinks. He also took us to a RANDOM political event that was serving free drinks but by the time we got there the open bar was closed. When we called him out on how we believed he bamboozled us he began to get very upset and disrespectful. Which was attributed to his many drinks he ordered for himself throughout the entire bar crawl, he also made sexual passes at some of the women in our group, he was also filming us on his cell phone while we were on the dance floor. I truly believe he took advantage of us because we weren't from the NY area and were not familiar with the area. I am so disappointed, one because we wasted our money and an entire day of our TWO day vacation on him dragging us around with NO real intention to show us a great time! I would NOT recommend Harlem Pub Crawl to anyone! Ever! read more
