Comedy in Harlem is hands down one of the best-kept secrets in the city. A friend put us on to it, and once we found out tickets were next to nothing, we jumped on it. Boy, did we have an amazing time! The comedians were hilarious both times we went (yes, twice in one month--that should tell you something). The vibe is intimate, the energy is warm, and the laughs are nonstop. The food is another reason to go. Everything we tried was A1--fried catfish, salmon, mac and cheese, yams, cabbage, potato salad. The drinks are strong and tasty, and prices are more than fair. They do have a per-person minimum, but it's easy to hit because the food and drinks are that good. Service is wonderful, and the owners are such beautiful, welcoming people. They even went out of their way to meet a need we had, which made us feel extra comfortable. The club is set up with a DJ, gender-neutral bathrooms, and a full open bar on display. It's Black-owned--the only Black-owned comedy club in New York--which makes supporting it even sweeter. This spot works for everything: girl's night, date night, or even solo if you just want to vibe out. It's right in the heart of Harlem with plenty of street parking, and if you're taking the train, the subway lets you out practically at the door. Tickets are usually under $25, which is a steal for the experience. Sometimes they even run specials--our second visit had no cover at all. Definitely sign up for their emails so you don't miss out. Kudos to the owners for creating such a gem. Comedy in Harlem has become a go-to for me, and I'll be back again and again. read more

I had an "alright " time. Not great, not bad. Big man at the door could be more diplomatic. Not horrible, but he was brash. They need more major comics for the prices they charge. Too much hype and talking from untalented host. And there was two m.c.'s at the same time. (I never experienced that before, that was a bad idea.) I won't be back until Rob Stapleton, comes back. read more

It's great to have a full time comedy club in Harlem. At 145th. ST. & St. NICK. The A,B,C,D. Train's will take you right there. I had a great time, and will go again. But the only thing, I had an issue with was the food. The cooking oil was on the stale side, and the fried wings, and fish we bought were greasy,AF!! Now that wasn't funny. Hopefully management will tighten up their game, and correct this. Please!! I want to support my community. Good Luck . read more

Venue is not very big but it works. Nice size bar to the left, banquet seating along the wall on the right, small tables with two chairs each in the middle. DJ is slamming! Food is meh. I had homemade mac-n-cheese. I guess I'm just partial to my mama's. Catfish was a disaster. Was a very tiny piece and looked really dark from whatever oil they use. The staff is really nice. Just remember that the tip is included in the bill and if you are not careful you may find yourself double tipping. To their credit, they did reimburse me the extra 18%. We saw TK Kirkland and he is hilarious, smart and really knows how to work a crowd. He allowed us to take pics with him after the show and didn't even charge. This is a black owned venue and worth checking out. read more

This Comedy club is the best I've ever visited by far. It's like walking into a place where everyone knows who you are and the owners and wait staff are beyond welcoming! I enjoyed everything about the place. The decor, the delicious food, the service and the entertainment! My laughter was non stop from the excellent comedians performances. This spot is blowing up. Each time I come the crowd is larger than the last. Reasonable priced tickets and strong drinks make for a good night. Unlike most comedy clubs, here there is no 2 item/drink minimum. Another plus is your encouraged to order meals from the seafood restaurant downstairs to have during the show. On the downside, it's a small venue with no separation from the bar area. The bar area can get pretty load and distracting if not controlled properly. There's always a nice line up of comedians some established and plenty of brand new funny people trying to catch a break. I love to laugh and will be returning soon. read more

I've been to Comedy in Harlem twice now, with tearful laughter both times. The comedians booked have been quite funny, and even when a joke or routine didn't land, I've seen them pivot and really capture the crowd. Jamie Roberts, the owner, also doubles as the host and comes with his own humor and never fails to get the energy up for the next comic to hit the stage. On our last trip we learned that there's also a live band that comes to play after some shows. The drinks are mixed well and strong, both good signs at a comedy club. They're reasonably priced too. Food can be ordered with the Comedy In Harlem staff but comes from the restaurant downstairs. The spot is a bit off the beaten path, but you won't have an issue finding it. I will warn that there are stairs to climb. We'll probably go back in a few weeks for another event. See you there! read more

One of the best shows I've seen in a while, especially without a high profile name. The line up was fantastic from beginning to end (actually until they brought up Smokey Suarez). Usually the opener is just ok but not the show on Friday night. It was top notch, the food was good and drinks were too. It was a near perfect date night. I know that Smokey is a local legend having some movie cred, but he's past his time. He was using inflammatory language, unnecessary (like F@ggot, and other terms that just aren't funny and show his age). It was almost like just for shock. If the show had ended the way it should have we would have walked away on a high. Instead, we and others left during Smokey's set. Some stayed. He is a local legend but calling him up was a mistake. Maybe introduce him and acknowledge him but that's all. I love the new spot. Perfect for taking the train and it is so much nicer. Jamie is a fabulous host. It was like Showtime at the Apollo. Will be back but let Smokey be a guest. read more

I performed here last night and had one of the best times ever. The decorum, the staff and the owners are top notch. Family owned, but professional like it's a corporation. Show started on time. Looking for some laughs, check out the Comedy in Harlem spot located in Manhattan, NY. We arrived at this cozy and clean establishment, welcomed by security ( at the main entrance), the owners, and cheerful staff ( upstairs). The owners were friendly and attentive to patrons. One owner ( Jamie) served as the MC for the night. He was hysterical and did a nice job keeping the audience engaged. The club serves soul food and moderately price drinks to their customers. The $25pp entrance fee was well worth the ticket. A mix of comedians entertained the audience for 3 hours. It was a fun night, and I will go again in the future. Street and garage parking available in the area. read more

I had a great time at this comedy show. I plan on going again. I've told friends about it already. The staff was nice, the young lady who hosted was great and the comedians were really good. At first, I didn't know if I was in the right place, because it's in the cut, kind of like an alley lol. But it was fine and the spot was cool. I think the minimum was $15 and you could buy either food or drink to meet the minimum. We needed a spot like this in NYC. read more

The venue, comedians, food and drinks are good... i've been there twice ... had a good time!!!however you have to do something about the entryway and the amount of rats... and garbage in front of your establishment. I know it's the city but you don't want a rat in front of you or behind you when you're trying to walk up the stairs to your comedy club.. it also makes me wonder about eating or drinking there!!! read more

The Comedy in Harlem Club is Great! I Love great Comedy and its definitely at the Comedy in Harlem. My 3rd visit will be this Saturday for the Ladies Comedy Night. My girlfriends and me have been waiting for this night for weeks and we know that it will be wonderful. The owner and the staff are excellent. It's a small location. Getting to be known for its own lane of urban comedy. Caters to many crowds with friendly feel to the place. Could be a little better as for seating but it is a bit cozy. Didn't try the food and probably never will. Other than that nice spot to have a drink and couple of laughs. read more

Love having a Black-owned comedy spot in Harlem! It's run by a married couple and has a lot of good comedians. Plus, there's only a $14 drink minimum which is a great deal compared to other NYC spots. I'll gladly be back! read more
