I had emergency gallbladder surgery and unfortunately this doctor was the only one who was able to perform it. He was very difficult to get in touch with even before the surgery. My nurses must have called him a dozen times before he finally responded back, and he finally came the next day. I met with him for less than 5 minutes before I was wheeled away to the OR, and I never saw him again.
He never bothered to check on me after the surgery, he didn't leave any discharge paperwork or anything for me. Nothing about special diet, side effects, possible complications - nothing.
I got discharged the next day (a Friday), and tried to call his office to make a follow up appointment, and the number listed for him was out of service. I ended up having to go back to the ER for new pain medication because the stuff he gave me made me sick. That Monday, I finally got a working number for him and his office manager was incredibly rude to me on the phone, and told me that the doctor went on vacation and wouldn't be back for 2 weeks - despite the fact my discharge paperwork said to follow up within one week. I asked who was standing in for him while he was on vacation, and she snapped at me that I would just have to see my regular doctor and hung up on me. SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!
The next day, Tuesday, I developed thrush (a yeast infection in my mouth), and went in to see my regular doctor. She told me that I really needed to be seen by the surgeon, just to be sure, so I planned on making an appointment for after his vacation.
On Thursday (one week post op), I started to develop horrific stomach cramps, and severe nausea. I went straight to the ER, where they performed a CT scan and couldn't find anything that could be causing such awful pain. I was discharged with strict instructions to see my surgeon. The next day, my husband called and again dealt with the rude office manager, but he was able to get me a same day appointment because the doctor took a day to come in during his vacation.
I got to the office, and was taken back rather quickly. The intake nurse was friendly enough. When I got to the exam room, it was dirty. There were dirty needles, lidocaine bottles, dirty gauze pads with blood and what looked like puss sitting out on the counter. I told the nurse how displeased I was with the doctor's behavior thus far, and that I had a lot of questions for him. He came in, took a quick look at the incisions, spent less than 90 seconds with me, and left me with a prescription for Prilosec. No instructions, no questions answered - just turned around and walked out. I thought he was coming back with some pamphlets or something - but no, about 5 minutes later they intake nurse was coming in with a new patient!!!
Needless to say, this doctor is a joke and has the most horrific communication skills of any medical professional I have ever met. His office staff is rude. His office is disgusting. Now I'm stuck having to google and call doctor friends/family about questions I have - like what I can eat, what's normal/to be expected, etc. - because this guy just doesn't give a crap about his patients.
I Will be reporting him to my insurance carrier, the BBB and any other place I can think of. Stay far away from this doctor!!!!!!
