The result was an entangled mess of damp, heavy, hard to remove roots, lumber, plastic and various other junk. I think a picnic table and half rotten pallet had been washed in there as well. And to add to it, our backyard is at a slope with limited access so everything had to be hoofed up the incline by foot to the street to be hauled away. Nick crushed it. He cut down the vines and shrubs and took away literal mountains of waste. He communicated well and kept us updated on his progress. He did have to revise the quote a little bit after starting based on the re-estimated level of effort, but after seeing the result it was worth it. Thanks Nick!!

Decked Out Builders is a company that came highly recommended for my deck & porch replacement. Not…read moreonly were there recommendations from members of my neighborhood civic league, there were great Yelp reviews. The company has done many Homearama decks, which I'm very familiar with since one backed up to my backyard. Sigh.......wasn't a fun experience. After viewing the company's work online I decided to call for an estimate. Glenn came promptly & we addressed my desires for the deck materials, design & need for a prompt completion. I received an estimate & layout drawing promptly. The pricing was ballpark for what I had been expecting for the deck materials I wanted. There could be no more wooden decks for me. My back yard faces the north, about a mile from the Chesapeake Bay. The salt air corrosion in the strong winds from the Bay destroys everything metal & wooden on the back side of the house. I didn't choose Decked Out for a number of reasons. The company I chose could do all my interior work. Not having to do business with multiple contractors was a big plus. The company I chose brought samples & boards so I could choose the exact coloring for both the deck & the rails. Glenn's estimate said that samples would be provided upon request. The estimate I chose included deck rail lighting so my dogs could see better when they go out at night. They let me be more inclusive in the deck & steps design. None of the reasons for my choice should be taken as my not being convinced that Decked Out Builders is a premier deck builder in Coastal Virginia. They are. My desire for more input & interior renovation needs were the reason for my choice. Thank you Glenn for your prompt response, estimate & layout. You are applauded for the many beautiful and quality decks you have designed and built in Coastal Virginia.

The first time I tried to set up an appointment with the man who arranges their calendar was not successful. The way I understand it is there is one person who arranges the appointments and 2 people who assess the home. The engineers were driving around my neighborhood on the wrong day because the man (who I will not name) couldn't keep their appointment calendar straight. Then when it came time for them to come after a reschedule, no one called me to confirm or tell me that the engineers would be late. I would recommend hiring someone who has experience with scheduling. The communication that transpired has steered me in another direction to work with another firm.

They spent 3 days working painstakingly in the sun, and did not stop until the job was done. It is the best the yard has looked since I was a kid. The owner deserves a beat on Virginia Beach award I mean it. I don't think there is a job too small or too big for them to take care of. So even if you speak to him and don't use them, I promise you will have an amazing experience talking to a man with a ton of integrity, respect, and great morals. He gave me the best price for this job, and I'm externally grateful for that. Their integrity carries profound wisdom.
