I have attempted to call James and text him on numerous occasions to which I've not gotten a response.... September 28, October 9, November 6 and November 24. That was just text messaging alone not including calls in between. I have, according to him, a diseased tree and it will spread to others if not treated, mind you we have a one-year warranty contract not up until April 2025, and I did as he advised on our last actual conversation, September 21, I used a fungicide according to the directions and it has done nothing. My expectation is that he will replace the two trees that need to be replaced with something equivalent to the heights of the other trees that are growing fine. I expected to hear something back from him to which I have gotten not one word. This is very bad business. The follow up in regard to customer service is horrible. UPDATE: That is untrue. I have NOT heard back as you can see in the texts. I have emailed and gotten no response and every time I call no one answers. Replacing the trees is the expectation. If James is so sure of the disease I would expect you would get them replaced ASAP. All the other trees are just fine. You have not been out to my property since you installed as my ring cameras would have caught you. Also, if that was the case my trees would be replaced and we wouldn't be here. Uphold your contract. My contract and warranty are not with the nursery it is with you. You are the responsible party. I'm sure this will not get handled and this is how he does business. If I hear from James I would be surprised.

Initial excavation showing gravel install without landscape fabric

James and I discussed what my wife and I wanted done at length for the installation of an RV parking pad next to our house. Job was to install an RV parking spot 32 feet by 8 feet beside house. Excavate/remove 6 inches of dirt, maintain existing grade to allow for proper drainage away from house. Install landscape fabric, frame with landscape timbers. Install 2 inches of gravel at a time, compacting each time, for a total of 6 inches to ensure stability. He discussed the compacting process with me over the phone, and also told me that he would add a binder of some sort over the top to stabilize the gravel. The problem was, in retrospect, that none of these details were written down explicitly in the contract. Took out too much dirt towards back corner next to house (estimate approximately 6 inches too far down). Struck irrigation lines and repaired. Did not install landscape fabric, framed with landscape timbers on all sides except next to house. Added all gravel at one time, without compacting. Result is low spot next to house that will not properly drain due to non-conformance to existing grade, exposing foundation to possible water damage. I am willing to remove my negative review if the contractor is willing to come out to my house and fix the RV parking pad by restoring grade to remove low spot and compacting gravel to stabilize area. I am also willing to install without landscape fabric.

Circled is the working sprinkler head that rotates over the entire affected area. Compared to the Dog pee picture, this is not the issue!

Reasonably priced, and with one other person, got the job done in a few days. Just waiting for wheels to make life easier! lol ***Update: BUYER BEWARE:*** March 2026 I am having huge issues with the panels and gates, that Tanner installed. The panels aren't staying together, there are several gaps, the gates sag so bad they're pulling panels out of the posts and can't be opened easily without lifting the entire gate. Accordong to my neighbor this fence wasn't installed correctly at all. Contacted this dude to come out and fix it, and got the run around, once again. Always has excuses and is either the most unhealthy dude on the planet, as hes always sick, and has the worst memory or he's just completely unprofessional, which is where I am tending to lean. Either way, he's blown me off several times and I can no longer, with good conscience, recommend him or his work. Oh yeah, and the wheels... he could have told me 6 months ago he wasn't going to do it, I could have fixed the issue myself. He all of a sudden didn't have the "right wheels for my fence" and I needed to purchase them for an additional couple hundred dollars, but couldn't mention this before hand when I initially contacted him about the damn wheels.... its NOT about the wheels, its about how he handled this whole situation.

He originally slated the Job for October 1st, and failed to show then re-slated for October 7th. He is non-responsive and does not return calls or texts. I am moving forward with both a criminal and civil lawsuit against him. If others are reading this and have been scammed, contact the Virginia Beach Police, Economic crimes unit. William is violating state law that I shared below. § 18.2-200.1. Failure to perform promise for construction, etc., in return for advances. If any person obtain from another an advance of money, merchandise or other thing, of value, with fraudulent intent, upon a promise to perform construction, removal, repair or improvement of any building or structure permanently annexed to real property, or any other improvements to such real property, including horticulture, nursery or forest products, and fail or refuse to perform such promise, and also fail to substantially make good such advance, he shall be deemed guilty of the larceny of such money, merchandise or other thing if he fails to return such advance within fifteen days of a request to do so sent by certified mail, return receipt requested, to his last known address or to the address listed in the contract. The more complaints they get, the faster they will process his case. He scheduled us on September 9th and did not come thru. His excuse was that the job they were working on took more time and they would get to me in a few days. I told him I understood and to please keep me informed. After a few days of not hearing from him, I reached out to see if he can give me a date and he could not provide that. Now he says that he's 2 months booked and trying to fit me in. I told him that I felt like he was giving me the run-a-round because if I was aware that he was 2 months booked I would not have given him a deposit. I made it very clear to Willam that my deck had to be repaired within 30 days and he led me to believe that he could get me in quickly. I requested full refund of my deposit back from him and no response. I reached out several times per phone, text, email, company website, mail and still no response. Moving forward with legal action. Bluf: Reliable, high-quality company with affordable prices…read more We've used this company for many years (10 or so). Owner Aaron exhibits old-school integrity and is wicked smart with respect to trees, grass, flowers, etc. Pretty certain he knows the Latin names for all the plants too. His services are priced affordably (lower than the big national companies) and the results are noteworthy. We've had him install French drains, sump pumps, remove bushes, grate & level our yard after a giant tree removal, install a 16 x 70 paver patio and a separate patio off our master, and of course maintain our grass. I recommend him for all your landscaping needs.

I'm updating my earlier review because, over the past 2 years things have taken a turn…read more They have been my yard company for a probably about 4-6 years at this point. At first, everything was great, but recently there have been a lot of problems and it mostly boils down to the people who come to mow the yard and not the people in the office who are great (Mel, Cindy, Aaron). I have to be totally honest, it's not all bad, they are responsive to concerns and they always call you back. Aaron and his dad, Mel, will personally call you and/or come over whenever there is an issue and Cindy is very helpful and runs a tight ship on the phone from their office. In addition to weekly mowing services, they do landscaping and have mulched for me and installed metal edging and did a good job. They also have seeded my yard for me at the end of season and that turned out pretty well. I had a few issues with some landscaping and they were quick to come over and make it right. I also had an issue where they kept hitting my porch step repeatedly and it ate it away the wood but they did pay to repair it when I had it fixed. I basically live in Back Bay and my yard retains a lot of water so I've had a bunch of issues with ruts in the yard and them driving through the mulch beds instead of weed eating or taking a little extra time not to tear up my yard when there is bad weather. No, you can't control the weather, but you can do some stuff to not be so hard on someone's yard (like weed eat instead of drive the zero turn over problem areas, etc.) and I haven't seen any of that recently. It's constant pain and irritation on my end and I'm sure they're tired of me calling to complain as much as I'm tired of being irritated by the crappy care taken in my yard. I'm pretty unhappy with the quality lately of the weekly service I'm paying for and the guys who come cutting corners with the weekly maintenance. I've included photos. The guys who come sometimes drive the entire wheel through the length of my mulch bed, over the sprinkler heads, and undoing the mulching and edging I pay for annually. They also repeatedly turn the zero turn in the exact same spot and drive ruts in mud through the yard every week and kill the grass I pay $300-400 to have seeded and $500-700 to have treated. It's a lot of money to have careless services, so I've decided to go with someone else who perhaps has less yards to mow, but won't cut corners to be quick. I'm tired of worrying about it. It's clearly just not a good fit with my yard.

I honestly can't say enough good about Shawn Anderson - owner of Visionscapes…read more My fiancee and I met him when looking to replace a shoddy landscape developer when building our custom home who didn't return calls when time was of the essence - when we found Shawn and Visionscapes our home was already framed up but was still heavily under construction and we knew we needed to have a plan in place while it was being built to ensure it didn't cost us more later to get what we wanted. Shawn almost immediately met us on-site - walked around with us - listened to what we wanted - and came up with a comprehensive plan for the property - both front and back yard. He met us at home with a large printed landscape design plan, with plants laid out, pavers, etc. and he went over everything in detail and seemed really excited about the project. Initially we chose to only have the front landscaped - as our dreams for the back are fairly lofty - but because we already knew what we wanted - Shawn met with our builders to advocate for us and ensure we had the proper equipment in advance. For example, I want a custom large fire pit - so he made sure we had the proper output we needed to later install the pipes and such (more jargon needed but I don't remember it now). It would save us a lot of trouble than if we had to change this after the home was built. Shawn's team came out and landscaped our front yard and it's fantastic. He installed specific plants I wanted (white and blue/green hydrangeas) and made a really nice design based on the layout of the home in the lot. When we were finalizing the home there was a mistake made with relation to the landscape plan Shawn made and we submitted to our builders and the cement walkway to the front - while this was being corrected neither we, nor our builders, could figure out the best and most visually pleasing way to fix this issue. We called Shawn and texted him some photos on-site and he sent over within minutes a rough sketch of what he thought we should do - it was perfect and none of us (about 6 people) had even thought about it. He's that good. Really. Because some of the ideas we were having thrown out prior to calling Shawn were pretty bad. And again, time was important, they were pouring it the next day as a quick fix so if we hadn't gotten him on the phone who knows what it would look like today! Shawn has come out and met with us a few times on other items - like fencing for our front and back yard - and he's always willing to set up a time to come to your home and meet with you to discuss. He comes prepared with your home plans, lot layout, and has a well thought-out and planned out design with photos of the plants he suggest so you can see them and approve them. I like someone who did their homework and comes prepared. He makes you feel like you're important and worth the time. That's a big plus. At our last meeting, about fencing in some of our front yard, he walked around to look at the previous landscaping as we mentioned not all the flowers bloomed. He said if they didn't bloom this year to let him know and they'd replace them. Now THAT is good customer service. No excuses, no arguing, no complaints, just, "let me know and we'll fix it if we need to." Another thing we like about Shawn is he almost always answers his phone. He's honest, dependable, approachable and does what he says he will. You get what you pay for folks - and Shawn and his team are top notch. If you need some landscaping done for your home - he's who you need to see. When it isn't cold I'll post some photos of his work.
