Babica Hen is our favorite breakfast spot in Lake Oswego. There are a few tables outside too, complete with propane heaters and umbrellas. We have been coming here with our kids since they were in highchairs. The rotating Waffle of the Month specials have always been a hit with them. The menu offers a lot of flexibility regarding component selections and preparation. Favorites include the Smoked Salmon Avocado Benedict, the Iron Miner's Scramble (eggs, red potatoes, bacon, caramelized onion, black beans, and gravy), and the Lake Grove Breakfast (omelet or scramble). The food is tasty and high quality, as are the coffee and the Bloody Marys. Service is friendly and competent in our experience. Babica Hen takes reservations for parties of eight or more - otherwise, it's first come, first served. The restaurant is located next to the (formerly COVID mask-wearing) large elephant statue which is part of Lake Oswego's Gallery Without Walls outdoor sculpture exhibition. Our kids compliment my wife's homecooked breakfasts by exclaiming, "We're eating at Mama-ca Hen!"

We use to frequent the Babica Hen Cafe in Dundee when it was open so I personally asked to come here. That was an unfortunate mistake on my part. Yes it was a Saturday so we were busy but that was ok with us. We ordered our drinks which was the start of the issues. The ice tea was old. You could taste it being stale. The coffee was super acidic that I asked to have take it back. I can drink just about any coffee but that was something else. We placed our food order and then we waited.. and waited.. and waited some more. It took almost an hour to get our food which seemed wild. During that time we couldn't get our servers attention at all. One of the ice teas had a giant hair in it. They said oh.. I will get a new one.. Nothing else. When the food came out one of them came with a salad and the dressing was so acidic and sour we couldn't eat it. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. I get there is a 18% service charge but it is hard to pay that when service was fairly lackluster. We hardly saw our waitress. Overall the visit left a bad taste and we won't be returning

It's a nice place with very friendly people, it's got some nice seating too, but for me the best…read morepart is the food. I ordered three different savory kolaches, and being from Texas I was wondering if they'd hold up. The OG is almost exactly the same, it's got a slightly different texture and the breading is less flaky than what I usually get at home, but it's still very good. The Bacon Me Happy was also super good, it's not like the usual savory kolaches back home but it was very tasty. The Happy Bird uses turkey sausage, which is good for anyone who wants less red meat in their diet, and I liked the cheese a lot. One more difference between these and the ones back home is these are less rectangular, which I think is closer to the original recipe than the ones I'm used to having.

There is a great exterior patio area and the service is delightful. I honestly had never heard of a kolache before I visited this facility. I can honestly say that it's a unique but delicious pastry that comes with your choice of filling at this shop. I went with the OG and was definitely not disappointed. I was able to chat with the owner while I waited for my food and had a very lovely interaction. In general, the atmosphere is very friendly and seemed like a very family friendly environment. Definitely check it out if you want to have some quality service while trying a pastry you've probably never heard of... all at an affordable price and in a vintage style restaurant.

Had lunch here sampling their quiche Lorraine, ham And…read morecheese croissant, pear tartlet and coffee. Quiche were warmed up with a little side salad; coffee was very nice (as i ordered a second cup). Tart was excellent as well. Staff were professional. Only drawback is the limited seating inside (though they had outdoor seats it was raining) AND to make things worse you often had the one person occupying a table for four spreading out their laptop and books and whatnot--along with one empty coffee cup where they are still nursing its fumes. Oh well.

As the name sake dish, the St. Honore is a menagerie of deliciousness. It's almost like having a few desserts in one w the flaky bottom layer filled with cream and above the 3 caramelized cream puffs nestled in pillows of whip. Oh and that whip...you gotta have it w the chouquettes. W the lightly sweetened, lovely soft bite of a shell, it's the best vehicle to dip the whip. Usually my fave is the St. H out of these 3 but today the caramel on the cream puffs was a bit too thick and hard to eat vs the thin delicate layer i'm used to. Hopefully this was a fluke and I'll def have to research this more w another visit. Lol. Swung by on a weekday late morning. Waited a lil to order but was greeted warmly when staff arrived. This location is great as it has a lake view w plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Parking is free either on street or garage w 3 hour limit.
