We were extremely disappointed with the service we received from our waitress this evening. At a restaurant of this caliber, where the dining experience comes at a premium, we expected service to match. Unfortunately, it fell far short of what one would reasonably expect from a fine dining establishment. My husband and I had a very disappointing experience here this evening, especially considering the price point. We spent $200 on a mussel appetizer, halibut, and lobster, expecting a fine dining experience--but the service fell far below that standard. As people in recovery sober for over three and a half years, we specifically ordered virgin drinks, yet were served mussels prepared in a wine-based sauce recommended by the server. I also received the wrong drink twice. Most frustrating of all, we waited over an hour for our entrées while a nearby table of six was seated, served, and finished their meal before ours even arrived. When we tried to understand what maybe taking place behind the scenes and asked if they were short staffed with the chefs in the kitchen. We were met with rudeness and told our seafood needed its own ovens to cook in. For being the only ones in the restaurant filled with a horrible ambience I can see why others have said the same. It's always best to check the reviews. They may just favor locals. We were truly looking forward to this meal, but left feeling disappointed and overlooked. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant and would advise others to dine elsewhere. read more

Happy find when visiting Campbell River for a night. Situated at the Marina. Good selection of wines. We enjoyed the Hester Creek Judge a LOT Started with complimentary buns and butter, next local oysters, then shared the duck, 6 oz steak tenderloin and the eggplant cannelloni. All the meals were cooked perfectly and were delicious we ate every bit. My only complaint was that the food came out a bit slow but there were a couple of large tables ahead of us and I also know that everyone is suffering with staffing shortages these days. Gosh I wanted to love this place. Great location. Great service! (Shout out to Lauren!). I will say the lamb was excellent. And maybe we just got the wrong things but my beef was not tasty (sorry) and my husband's seafood was also not delicious. Great wine selection!! So maybe go and be careful what you order. My wife and I planned an evening to celebrate her birthday on Dec.14th. To make it short: We both ordered appetizers my wife's was average and mine(Escargot Bourguiqnonne) had to be sent back ,as it was not eatable. the mushrooms were like biting into bubblegum. The waiter did not appreciate me sending it back. The main meals arrived and my wife had Cordon blue which she said was average. I ordered Seafood Gratin. The angel hair was gummy. The vegetables were terrible. some way over cooked and some you couldn't cut with a knife. The waiter said he would bring more ice water three times and never did within about a 20 min period. Finally a young server brought some. The main waiter for our table showed absolutely no apology for the situation. The temperature in the restaurant was so warm that my wife had to ask the owner to please turn down the temp. Considering the prices on the menu, we expected a much better meal which I must say that in previous visits we did enjoy. In my personal opinion, the food has gone down hill and we will NOT BE EATING at this restaurant again. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

We were in Campbell River for a few days celebrating my birthday also visiting the in-laws, we decided to have dinner at this place the waiter was pleasant in the beginning we ordered wine and appetizers and our steak dinners we all had, the apps were good but the steaks 2 of them were over cooked we asked for medium rare and got well done you would think a chef would know how to cook a steak, i guess not, finally got the waiters attention and explained the situation he went on to say we should continue to eat our vegetables while they cooked another steak kinda odd we said no thank you so half hour later the steaks finally came cold and raw yuk only had one bite the waiter no where to be found did not apologize so we paid the $550.00 tab and left what a disappointment never again do better Harbour Grill read more

This is favourite place for special dinners ! Food best in town bar none, have been many times and never disappointed. Great menu awesome staff and I-like that it's not crazy noisy like some places so you can actually hear your dinner companions! Is everyone in campbell river rude? Or just at the harbour grill? Our wait staff was as hostile as can be, complete with snapping at my hungry toddler because our food had taken over 45 minutes at that point. By the time it arrived (not hot any more at this point) we were ready to up and leave. Presentation was lousy. We will not be going back there. read more

We had reservations for 6:30 for 6 adults. We arrived on time. The restaurant wasn't crowded at that time. Drinks and salad were served. It then took almost 3 HOURS for our dinner to arrive. Bass, the waiter, ignored us except when we ordered more wine. Meanwhile other patrons arrived, were served and left. We were almost the last people in the restaurant by the time our dinner arrived. No explanation from the manager who seemed indifferent at best. The entrees were very good but we were so tired we really couldn't enjoy them. We didn't leave until almost 10 PM! read more

Caveat: Have not eaten here. However, based on the phone conversation I had, I will not be eating here in the near future... Here is how the phone conversation went: Called because on the Yelp website it shows being open until 11:00 pm on Sunday. I wanted to try this place out since it was highly recommended by a co-worker. So I called to be sure it was open. The person who answered the phone said that they would be closing the kitchen at 8:30. I said ok. I asked if I need a reservation to come in at 8, will be ordering appetizers and drinks. She asked if it would be possible to come in a little earlier, since it was "not worth it" to keep her "expensive kitchen staff" on just for "appetizers and drinks." Hmmm...(where is the appropriate emoticon?). Well, I can definitely understand the point that it is expensive to have a kitchen staff on. And I understand that her asking to come in a little earlier was fine. However, her tone and saying it was "not worth it" and to suggest at how her "expensive" staff was more important than business is a little off. Maybe I am wrong in this assessment of the place. And, I would welcome to entertain a response in defense of this person's attitude and choice of words. Well, I guess my money and future patronage is not worth it. This restaurant must be doing super good to turn away people who want appetizers and drinks. read more

Great restaurant, wonderful food, attentive waitress. Three of us ate at the Harbour Grill in July 2018. All three of us totally ate everything on our plates. The seafood was wonderful, one of us had a steak that he said was outstanding. We had great salads, warm fresh buns, and the wine was superb (two of us drank a chardonnay the other had a glass of red. Our young waitress was excellent, did a great job of staying on top of things and making sure we were happy with the service. Had a very good chocolate torte for dessert we split three ways. I would say that this is probably the best restaurant in Campbell River. It is a bit more formal of a place, though as sailors having just come in on a boat we were a bit less well dressed yet they made us feel right at home. Would happily return. read more

Poor Service. Rude owner. Unlike Debi A's experience with the owner ignored us and took a couple that he recognized to a table before us. We had a reservation, and had arrived before the other couple and even though we pointed out that we were there before the others he shrugged our comment off. When we said you've just lost two customers he said 'Don't bother coming back' I can't speak to the food quality but the owner's attitude was dismissive and rude. read more

It's a nice white-tablecloth sort of place so you wouldn't feel too out of place if you dressed up, and the restaurant is located on the harbour, which makes for a lovely view. However, the food can be disappointing. I've had overcooked fish twice here, and prawns that were cardboardy and tasteless. The one time I ordered steak it was very good, though. read more
