Pre-COVID19, I enjoyed browsing the aisles and casually picking up all sorts of goodies for my home improvement and auto projects. For the uninitiated, this place is like a smaller and more inexpensive version of that big box store with the orange logo. In a lot of ways it's better than any of those big box home improvement stores. I have literally saved hundreds of dollars buying useful items for many of my home improvement and automotive projects here: air compressors, a tile cutter, specialty drill bits, tarps and more. It can get pretty busy with all the work trucks in the parking lot and contractors rushing in/out. For this visit I intentionally came in 30min before closing on a Sunday to avoid any crowds. And I even managed to stick to my list on my Our Groceries app! All the staff are wearing masks and all customers are also required to wear face coverings. I couldn't find the soldering iron and asked one of the staff, whom I noted was wearing a N95 mask. He was very helpful and knew just where they were...the same aisle I passed moments earlier. Haha. As you would imagine, There are a lot of things sold out, like masks and gloves. I'm happy to report that the staff remain helpful. I still managed to get another pair of work gloves to store in my truck since I never have them on me when I need them. I'll be back when my project tool list runs long again. read more

I wish there were more Harbor Freight locations. This one is really easy to find, huge sign with extra large address, 8400. I liked it when they were giving away all those free doo dads, but no longer. So I come here less often. last 3 years. They also seem to carry less of the things I need, such as today I called and I need a halogen light bult, the pencil thin kind, that I used to buy at this store. Even WalMart is not carrying this light bult, because they stopped making those lamps that used them , due to the bulb gets so hot, they cause fires, such as curtains catching on fire. But those lights are the brightest. The staff at this store are very helpful and friendly, and returns are easy, no questions asked. read more

This is my kind of candy store. I love perusing the aisles looking for something I do not need. This place is well stocked with the most random stuff that I will never use..except for the cool high lum flashlight, the pepper spray for $6, the ammo box for $3.95!, or the cool tool box that is bigger than my garage!. I love it all. I do not subscribe to the email coupons because they blow up my email something fierce. I just like to kill a good 45 minutes if I can and when I can. My cheap thrill for the day. I purchased a liquid pump remover a few days ago. The cashier no.377267 sold me on purchasing a 2 year warranty when she told me I could return it back to the store any time. The pump has an air leak and doesn't work. I went to the store to return the item, the manager tells me very rudely that the product has to be returned online. Pointing to the receipt stating it was obvious. I understand they have safety rules however it's the way she approached me as if I were trying to steal. A store should not advertise a return to the store if not possible this information should have been disclosed during the purchase of the 2 year warranty. read more

They do a very good job at this location, staff has been polite and helpful every time I have been here. The parking lot is large enough that even during sales events I have been able to find a convenient spot. Harbor Freight offers mostly Made in China tools. Some are of excellent quality, much of it is very acceptable and some of it is not made well at all. I have a 6" buffer that can be stopped with hand pressure.....that is not supposed to happen, this is the second one, and they both had that problem. Got a 3-in-1 air powered finishing nailer(16 gauge, 18 gauge and staples) was open box, cost $35.00 and works perfectly. I'm very happy to have a Harbor Freight location close by, and often am pleasantly surprised by how well the products they sell function. Keep your expectations realistic and you should be pleasantly surprised as well. read more

Quality tools at great prices! So a buddy of mine gave me a gift card to this place and I needed a tool box so I thought this would be a good time to use it. MAN this place has a lot of great bargains especially if you get their flyer, there's where you'll see what all the fuss is about. They constantly have great deals like 20% off entire sale or a free power strip w/surge protection and other useful items. I was lucky enough to enjoy a whopping 20% off AND get a free power strip with my sale I wanted the headlamp but they were all out of those. All in all I left with a medium sized tool box three accessory containers two medium and one large plus the power strip all for under $20. They also carry real American made Pittsburgh steel tools at reasonable prices as well. Thanks to my buddy I now have a go to place for all my tool needs. This Guy gives it an "Arrh! Arrh! Arrh!" Harbor Freight Tools is one of my favorite stores. This one is the biggest store I've been to. It appears to have every item Harbor Freight sells. I bought a couple of magnetic strips designed to hold tools. I like to use those in the kitchen to mount under my cabinets to store my cooking knives. Cheaper at Harbor Freight than Macy's The checkout at Harbor Freight is always so annoying. They are always pestering me about phone numbers and wanting to know if I receive their flyer. Yeah, it's their job - but it's still annoying. My favorite item of all time from Harbor Freight is their little crappy paint brushes. I use them to apply rust preventive paint on my equipment - then I throw the brushes away. Buy them by the case for the best price - and to guarantee you will have a brush when you want one. I painted my tractor with those little brushes, rust preventive paint from Home Depot and beer from Bear Republic. It was fun. You may want to surprise your wife by painting her car. read more

Then when I asked for help to load into my car it was like I was bothering them. What happened to customer service. The supervisor here is a total Prick. I called over the phone to MAKE SURE and VERIFY they had the product i needed in stock. He said he did. He even asked me if I wanted to have a hold be placed on the item so I wouldn't drive all the way to SD for nothing. He said , just ask for it at the front register. Over an hour drive later, I get there and ask for the item they stated they placed a hold on for me. There response was, idk how it happened it was supposed to be on hold but I accidentally sold it. Great tools at a great price. The problem is the unfriendly staff, more specifically the old lady working the register. She's very rude and unprofessional, and lacks customer service skills towards certain people. She treated what appeared to be a customer she knew personally great, having a friendly conversation when them and taking up time from me and another customer from checking out. That didn't bother me so much, however as it was our time to check out, we were just regular customers that didn't get a greeting. All we got was an attitude, bad customer service, and an unwelcome feeling. Everyone else in the store could be great, I don't know, but when you have one person like the one I described above, it ruins my perception of everyone in the store and the store brand itself. I hope you can address this and fix the attitude, favoritism and or whatever this individual appears to have because she isn't consistent with the customers she deals with. read more

Bottom Line: this store is big and clean, but their customer service isn't very good. I love shopping at Harbor Freight Tools for those tools that you only use a few times in your life so you don't want to pay alot. I sometimes purchase tools in the off chance that I might need it some day....why not; there so cheap! As a military guy, I move around alot and have shopped at many different HFTs; so I can spot the good ones from bad. I recently moved to Poway and found that there is a HFT in Escondido and on Miramar road in San Diego. I could have chosen either, but the one on Miramar was a little closer so I went there. This HFT looked brand new; it was very clean, organized and very roomy. It also wasn't very busy like many stores I've been to. Unfortunately, they weren't staffed like most either. They didn't have a sales board like most, but they did have the flyer available. I found that they had air staplers on sale; Bonus I need one! Unfortunately, I couldn't find the one on sale. When I finally found a CSR (hellooooo?), he looked as hard as me. He went to the front counter and found they were supposed to have 4 in stock. He looked on the shelf again. Then, he looked for one in the back. Then he looked on the shelf. After 30 minutes of searching, he reported that they don't have them. When I asked if they could match the price with the one they had in stock, he said he'd as the Manager. The Manager came over and looked at the shelf. Then he looked in the back. Then he told me "sorry, I can't help you". After I'd been waiting 45 minutes. I don't begrudge a store with inventory discrepancies...mistakes happen. But it is how a business deals with those mistakes that separates the good stores from the bad. In my experience, when other HFT stores run out of an item, they take down your information, call you when it gets the item in stock, and then honors the sale price. I have heard that some stores will even substitute tools. Not this store. I'll go to Escondido next time. read more

I'll come here for specialty tools that I know I'm only going to use once or twice. The quality is just OK. It's not always the best fit but they work well enough to get the job done. This is the place to go to for more affordable tools. It's well organized and clean. The tools they carry is cheaper but still well made and durable. Hand tools have a lifetime warranty. For any home project I make sure to come here first. What can you say about Harbor Freight? Cheap? Low quality? Yes and maybe. If you're a do-it-yourselfer working on your home, you don't need the fancy name brands if you're planning to use the tools a few times in your life. I agree if it's your trade, I'd invest big on what makes you money. So Harbor Freight and I have been friends for a long time... it's my big boy's toy store. I enjoy walking down the aisles and picking up something I find as a great deal. Look in the paper for coupons and sign up for their newsletters, and you'll find even better deals. Now the quality... yes, they got "throw away tools"... as in use it once and throw it away; but they also have some gems that will last a lifetime. My rule is this... if you're going to do a project and probably use it once for that project (then loan to your needy friends after), buy it here. For example, if you're going to do crown molding and/or hardwood floors, buy your compound miter saw here for half of the price you'd pay at HD or Lowes. How often will you use it again? I have expensive tools like Snap-On and Craftsman wrenches and ratchets in my tools box... mixed in with Chicago Tools you'd buy here... you just need to build your box based on how often you plan to use your tools. So I give Harbor Freight 4 stars... they have a huge selection and very low prices. If you really know what you need and how often you will use your tools, this is the place for you. read more

The store reminds me of those mom and pop tool stores back in LA I used to go to with my father as a child; but on a bigger square footage scale. You can definitely find cheap tools here in terms of price range. So hit up this store first before going to Home Depot. Don't forget to check the website for coupons! Finding the item you have a coupon for can be confusing at times but as long you refer to the item number on the coupon you're good. Sometimes they have coupons for free things like this one time there was a free LED mini flashlight with your purchase. This place is pretty nice in terms of it's not some crazy cluster f*ck of a mess. Also, the staff seems super friendly and even the customers that come here. They're always asking and offering to help me each time I've walked into here. Makes think that I am also the only female in the store during this time. Anyway, the parking is also great. I came here on black friday to purchase a floor jack as a gift. The boyfriend and I were thinking it was going to be super packed, but to our surprise there was practically no one there! Good thing on our part. I absolutely love Harbor Freight, it's just really fun walking around and looking at different things. Their prices are usually pretty good. They have a 2.5 ton low profile floor jack plus a 2 year warranty for $100, at least for the price I paid. The warranty was $20 extra and it covers any usual wear and tear type of stuff and you can take it back and they'll replace it for free. If you want to upgrade they'll take the price of the jack and you just have to pay the difference. So that's pretty cool. Lady at checkout was really nice. Definitely a great go-to spot if you're looking for a set of cheap tools. Maybe not tools to use daily, but if you need something quick. read more
