Absolutely terrible customer service. Staff is extremely rude. One lady said "were closing" & shut the door in my face as I walked up right at 8:00 and I said "no problem can you just tell me if you guys have those TV wall mounts that are on sale for $9.99 (so I knew whether or not to make the drive back tomorrow) she refused to answer my question. I've spent $1,000 + easily at this location as it's where I purchased most of my equipment for my small business and UNFORTUNATELY this location is the closest. However I'm DONE! I'll gladly drive to the farther location as to avoid the nightmare I go through everytime in this store. Awful cashiers and awful customer service. I has to downgrade my review to 1 star from 3 stars after we actually USED the products we purchased here. We bought their masking tape. It is garbage. So thin, you can't write on with a ballpoint pen like you can with basic masking tape. Also, the adhesive is too cheap. It doesn't stick completely. ***Don't waste your money here. Purchase elsewhere.*** Good basic tools. Nothing amazing or extensive. Which leaves me wondering how they can be a chain and stay in business with all the competition which IS more extensive. Went with my boyfriend so he could purchase some tools. I was surprised to see that the staff was randomly walking around helping people. One of the staff members was singing and was very lively, which created a joyous atmosphere. The manager seems to be very hands-on and very helpful. He gives off a vibe as though he is part of the staff and not just some manager telling people what to do. Prices are very affordable. I don't know a lot about tools but from what I gathered, this is a great place to buys tools that you are only going to use every once in awhile because you will save a lot of money. When you buy anything from Harbor Freight you know what you are getting into. Generally their tools are not as accurate, or durable. But if you are in a precision working environment you would know better than to buy this stuff. That being said they are still the best place to buy grinding wheels, tarps, some hammers, safety glasses, jack stands, engine stands, disposable pliers, screwdrivers and that sort of thing. We've been to this store several times and yes, the staff may not be warm and fuzzy but we usually get what we need. Last time we visited, the clerk was nice enough to let us ring all our items together and use two electronic coupons (they know we would get the discount one way or another so might as well make it easier, right) and even tried to get us the membership for additional saving. Free flashlight with yelp check in and they usually give you coupons for other free items for future visits. Prices are lower than Home Depot too! read more

Bought a floor jack this past Friday and took it home and it was used so I took it back and they replaced it took the new one how jacked the car up walked away to get the jack stands and the jack fell to the ground and it wouldn't put the car back up the hydraulics went out and took it back and they didn't have the 1.5 ton jack so I asked if they can just up grade me and the manager said ya let's just do that and they still wanted me to pay the $50 difference after two jacks I bought from there were no good I don't think that is right what so ever read more

This is like a beauty store for guys. All the tools -- drill bits, wrenches, sockets you ever wanted that Sears or Home Depot doesn't sell. Today, I needed left handed drill bits to tap out a stripped screw. It was on sale. They're always having parking lot sales with cool stuff like winches, zip ties, flashlights, wheel chocks as super cheap prices. Friendly service. The lines move quick. Went here today and discovered the "tool addicts drop in center", there's guys in here buying up stuff just because its cheap...ahh so American! I'm in specialized trade and my tools are quite unusual BUT they still have stuff which blew me away price wise (digital caliper $10, elsewhere $60+). I wouldn't expect much more than single usage out of their power tools but combine that with truly jaw dropping pricing and you understand why guys shop here. Service is good, certainly comparable to Lowes, plenty of help offered when I browsed the aisles. BTW bring coupons, they honor them everytime! read more

Very great staff. I went to the harbor fright store in anaheim on state college a few days ago and one of the cashiers told me that she cant exchange these since I dont have the receipt. But our boss didn't give us the receipt so the cashier there didn't wanna exchange them for me but come on its supposed to be backed by the warranty they offer if you have the phone number. So she refused to do the exchange for me so I left. Then I came into this one and was helped before they were even open and they did perform the exchange for me. So I left very happy since I also use these wrenches for work. Thanks to her I know I'll be back for more of my shopping to be done since that's a good staff. read more

Fantastic service. An employee worked very hard to help me try to find a specialty screwdriver for a security screw on an old Gameboy cartridge (unfortunately, they didn't have one that fit). Worst experience I've had at Harbor freight. The only reason I gave them the extra star is because I did get my return processed despite their illegal policy. They require you to show an ID to process a return even if you have your receipt. Not only that but they also require you give up you personal phone number and address! This was a problem for me because I only had my temporary paper ID from the DMV. So the cashier flat out refused to take my return even though I just purchased the item (AT HER REGISTER) 15 minutes prior. I went straight to her supervisor and pointed out that the receipt is a written contract that states only proof of purchase is required for return/warranty. He did the return with out ID but not without requiring my phone number and address. Highly invasive and unprofessional requirements from a retailer if you ask me. I get better treatment with Walmart's returns! Side note, the $130 inverter that I purchased was open previously and had dried soda spills all over the electrical vents. No others in stock. The supervisor tried to sell me on their new house brand but it was $30 more expensive than a new energizer brand inverter from Amazon prime. They even charged me $30 for a kill-a-watt P3 meter when Amazon prime has it for $18 new. I think harbor freight is not what it used to be. Update, after my experience I found out that the other small inverter I bought was not true sine power. Actually dirty power which can not be used for desktop computers or smart TVs, as stated only in the user manual... So, I was dreading going back in for more returns but the cashier on the next shift was undeniably courteous. She handled the whole return no problems. The manager Aaron, even found my old receipt that he accidentally kept and it only took a few minutes. These two played a big part in improving my experience over this afternoon so I want to add 1.5 stars to my previous 2.5 rating. read more

Service was great. Sans that one chick scanning stuff too busy to really help and annoyed that I asked a question. The rockabilly guy was helpful and friendly.. BUT... They didn't have a dremel press that I was looking for nor dremel tools. So, I have ventured out of using the hand held drill in some of the trinkets I make and have now looked into more complicated tools. Complicated because I do not know much about drills. Anyhoo, This place all though looked as though it would have all that I needed did not and it was a trip that could of saved time had I of phoned in and asked prior to assuming they would have dremel tools and accessories. Stores like Harbor Freight Tools are one of the biggest reasons you can have so many illegal or questionably-legal immigrants in southern California affording to whore themselves out as non-licensed contractors and further undercut real tradesmen and cause such havoc in the construction/building industry in this state... now... that being said... I LOVE THIS PLACE.... actually, I love any building supply store... I'm like a kid in a candy store whenever I walk through those doors... yeah... every so often I hear these incredible stories... like an electrician I know who claims a cordless drill purchased here lasted him three years... or a couple mechanics that have no problem being under cars that are on jack stands purchased here... but I have to agree, for the price you pay, the tools and equipment here do pretty well, at the very least, pretty well... whenever i have carpentry work, I buy anything and everything I can here... like my nail guns and especially hand tools to use around the house, socket sets, hammers, allen keys, magnets for my kids to craft with... i even buy my gloves and knee pads for paintball here... kites.... wooden model kits... i mean, these guys really do have everything.... and the store on Harbor in Santa Ana is even bigger... I literally spend money for no reason here, buying things i don't see at other stores, not because I need it, but because I want to have it... customer service is hit and miss, though... yesterday was a good day... I walked in and said... "Caulking..." and the guy behind the counter said... "uh...aisle 4..." and as turned to say thank you, I caught him checking out my wife's behind... I like all the harbor freight stores that I've been to. This one is the closest to my house. Any others that I've been to would have gotten a 5 star review. The only reason for this 1 getting a 4 star review is because it's a little smaller and not as big of a selection but still very good prices and very good customer service. First, let me say I like Harbor Freight. Their stuff is a "good value". Are they the best tools available? No, and they don't claim to be. But mostly, they are OK. Meaning if you are not a professional mechanic, you probably won't have many problems. So good value is very appropriate for many of us. I have special tools that I bought 20 years ago and used that time, and never had to pick up again. At that rate a cheaper tool will last forever! So a cheap tool is good for many tasks for many of us. That all said, this particular Harbor Freight has some pretty serious management issues. There are items that are on sale, and they are then a really really good value. Since I am a value shopper I watch for great deals. At this particular store however they often don't have sale items marked. So something is marked $159 when it's on sale for $119. But they didn't mark the item as being on sale. So I don't know that is a great deal and I should look at it. Sure, they are in the printed sale flyer, but since they have several of those at any one time with many discounted items listed I can't shop by cross referencing the sale flyer, the store tags and the item. That takes too long. It's just lazy, and I complained to a guy who I had them call to talk to me whose badge said store manager. He listened to my complaint about sale items not being marked as such but ultimately looked like he didn't much care. There was no one on the floor, it's also pretty odd that I had to call out "does anyone work here?" Finally I went to the cash register and asked the cashier to find someone to help me. I had to interrupt her work to get her to do that, but I don't care. So Harbor Freight, time for some setting of expectations with your staff. I can't cross reference items in the store with 3 or 4 color sale fliers you have going at any time to find what I should consider buying. Takes too long. I depend on you marking the sales price clearly, and that it's a good deal. I won't be shopping this store again if I can avoid it because of this. read more

I only used it once for a yard sale and 9 months later I pulled it out for another yard sale and whenIput it up it fell apart upon opening it up and I even stored it in the garage for the nine months. I asked to talk to a manager about possibly getting store credit and she said "no" and turned over my receipt to show me the policy. This place is great.... for the price. Bought myself a 1987 Bmw and needed tools to start doing some maintenance work. Using 20-25% off coupons, I went and bought bunch of tools... relatively cheap. At first, I was concerned that the tools may break on me, but couldn't resist to buy due to such a low cost. Well, all is fine, tools work just fine. I don't plan to be a professional mechanic.
