I have been trying to get one of their stubby pressure washer spray guns for months. My pressure washer only came with a long boom gun and this is a great deal for this stubby version. I also always like to support local smaller chain stores. The problem is that this item is so popular, it rarely stays in stock for more than a few days. My local store never has it and when the website says it's in stock in another store, it never is when I get there. Shout out to Ben at the Orange store. I called and asked if somebody could check and see if they actually still had any on the shelf since the website said they did. He checked and said they had a few left and that he would hold one for me up at the register. When I arrived, he confirmed that it is a super hot seller and I'm happy that I finally got one. I know my way around a Harbor Freight store-- when they open one in my native Pasadena, it was, indeed, a happy day in my life: cheap tools, all sorts of different items for tinkering and building, gardening stuff, things that could be slightly modified or re-purposed as fishing equipment... You name it. as I got older, had a couple of kids, who eventually got old enough to truly enjoy, taking my expensive tools and losing them in the backyard Dirt or God knows where, I also learned that harbor freight is excellent for purchasing cheap tools that are almost as good as much more expensive items. No sense in your kids. Varying expensive socket sets in the backyard, when they can do the same thing with really cheap ones. In any event, this harbor freight is pretty awesome. Plenty of parking, wide, well-stocked aisles, and seemingly a couple of things that I have not found recently at my other closure HF stores. I bought a bag of zip ties, some LED floodlights, a hatchet to replace the one my kids lost on the last camping trip... Are you noticing a pattern here, Mildred?... and a pair of forceps that are really awesome for flyfishing. I hope they never realize that the same pair is about 15 bucks more at BassPro. Speaking of pro, I will offer this pro tip: it's a great idea to check the website before you come here, not only to see what is on sale, or on special, but to determine if they have an item to save you money, while still completing whatever project you're working on. There is a lot of merchandise available online that can be tough to find in storage, too. Same savings, but how much wider selection. I bought a Predetor 2000 generator twice with no luck on getting the generator started at all. Tried to take it back twice and they charged me a 20 percent re stock fee because of their faulty generators not working. The management is horrible. The store manager is the worse manager ever. His name is Edgar Osoria. Also, the other managers are horrible. I tried twice with no luck to get two generatros to even start and they treated like the dirt on the ground. Harbor Freight new store in Irvine off of 2150 Barranca store #3475 it's my second time there and service isn't and better then last time. Waited over 10 minutes in line. Only to end up leaving with nothing I wanted to purchase due to lack of employees at the register. So even though this store is closer to my home I will continue to go to the store in orange off over Tustin st. This store needs more employees or maybe the person working the register can call for back up to clear out waiting customers. Shouldn't have to wait over ten minutes to check out especially when there not that busy. read more

Harbor Freight Tools is a great store for DIYers. They have a great selection of hand and power tools, all at very affordable prices. I personally love buying everything from leather gloves, torque wrenches, pneumatic tools to 12" Compound Miter Saws. They might not always be the best tools available on the market, but they are good enough for most common household jobs. I used to buy hand tools synonymous with "made in USA" brands, but many of those tools have also been outsourced by offshore manufacturers. The Harbor Freight hand tools are of decent quality and many come with a lifetime guarantee. During a recent visit, the staff was very helpful in picking out a 12" compound miter saw. He explained the differences between the 3 models on display and help me make an educated decision. I also got a very good discounted price on the Admiral saw that I had chosen. After purchasing the saw, the staff even came out to help me load it into my vehicle. For my flooring project, I also purchased a reciprocating saw to cut trim boards. Bot the miter and reciprocating saws performed flawlessly. I also use an angle grinder that I purchased years ago for almost nothing. That thing just keeps on working. I'm a big fan of Harbor Freight Tools. I have to admit, sometimes I enjoy just walking the aisles to see what they offer. read more

But it's very small compared to, say, Lowe's or Home Depot. So the selection isn't great. If you find what you need here, fantastic! You might have saved some money. We were nearby, and I had some coupons saved from Sunday newspapers. I had two for the free flashlights, one for a 4-in-1 screwdriver, and one for glue. It took a short white for us to find these super sale items. I had to ask, but I found all the items. The kind cashier helped me and my son with the coupons. She advised me that I picked the incorrect glue and left to find the correct one. It's confusing for me but I am always enticed by the sale items in the Sunday newspaper. This is the worse Harbor Frieght Tools locations that I have been to. I have been here twice...I guess that I didn't learn my lesson the first time. The first time I came here: I called ahead of time and provided the Customer Service woman with the name and item number for a motorcycle dolly that I was interested in purchasing. She checked on the computer...then put me on hold to visually confirm that they had the item that tI was seeking. She returned to the phone and said that they did in fact have the motorcycle dolly that I am seeking. I inquired about the weight and size of the dolly's box...she said that it was small and could fit in a car. When I arrived (in my car) she brought me a very small dolly (not a motorcycle dolly). I reminded her that I was looking for a motorcycle dolly...she then said that they don't have any of those in stock. I asked someone else that worked at the store and found out that they DID have them in stock and the box is HUGE!!! It will require a truck and multiple people to help load and unload it. I decided not to buy it because I was in a car. Went to the men's room and the lights didn't work. They had a small LED light sitting on top of the hand towel dispenser...it was light trying to pee in the dark while using a very dim candle. Came back a second time to buy moving blankets...I gave up and walked out after given bad directions TWICE on where the item was located. read more

Disappointed in the customer service. I asked an older man who worked there if they had any other storage bins like the ones in the back. His response was "I don't know, you would need to show me or have an item number, we have over 10,000 items in the store." Fair enough, so I took him back to show him what I was talking about but again explained, that I was not looking for those exact bins, but ones similar. Again, he recites the line about more than 10,000 items in the store. He was clearly annoyed in his response. So you are telling me you can't just tell me if there is another location in the store where you may have similar items. Awesome. Thanks for all the help. read more

Hi, gave you a star.  That's right 1 star, mainly because one of your employees decided he didn't have time to answer a simple question as to where I might find the kind of clamp I was looking for, as he was going on break.  He did finally and with much reluctance and even more attitude show me where they were, (on the way to the break room) and pointed to them as he walked by, his back to me.  I called out to him, "thank you very much".  No acknowledgement just kept walking so I called out again " thank you"  , no acknowledgement to I chased him down and ask what the problem was.  He very rudely told me he was wasting his time on his break helping me,  and I told him basically it's his job, whether he was on break or not , if he was any kind of employee worth a damn, and  all he had to do was say,  I'm sorry I'lm onbreak, let me get someone to help you.  So now he's a star on Yelp at the new store on Barranca. read more

Avoid Harbor Freight Tools if you expect any level of customer service. A month ago I placed an online order because their web site showed no inventory at our local store. As I was finalizing the payment process, I received an error as the order was not completed. So I contacted the local store and they did have a few of that item on hand. So I went there pickup one. As I was heading back home, I received an email from HBF thanking me for my online order. I called 4 times within the next 4 hours but kept getting the same recorded response that due to high traffic they are unable to answer the call. They did offer to hold my place in the queue if I preferred. However no one ever contacted me. The following day and now for a month, I have tried to reach HBF with no success. I was able to reach out to their fright partner, SAIA, to refuse delivery. SAIA reps were very friendly and tried to work with HBF to arrange the return. Not only HBF has not responded to my requests and communications, they have gone ahead with charging my credit card! This does not look like how a respectable company should handle customer service. read more

Best and cheapest tool place. I always use coupons when I shop here. Bought myself an angle grinder, and diamond blades for it. Also gotten free batteries and other goodies using their flyers and online coupons. Good customer service. Always use coupons!!! They only let you use 1 coupon per transaction for the "free items" so if you are buying 2 items, you should leave and come back to make a separate transaction. I always visit http://www.hfqpdb.com before I head over there to see what coupons are available. Print them out and get your deals!! read more

This review extends to all of Harbor Freight, including the online store. I bought a "2-1/2 gal. Air Pressure Paint Tank" online for a project. It said it was in stock but a few days later I get another email saying that shipping is delayed because they are out of stock of the item and don't have an estimate on when the factory will send them out. I decide to wait, because although I really needed the item, I didn't need it immediately. A week or two after that I get another email that the item has shipped and the very next day it arrives at my house seemingly out of the blue. The box was in shambles. There were more than eight holes in the box, most of which were larger than two inches across. The item inside was heavily damaged. Scratched on the outside, a busted pressure gauge, residue of who knows what caking the inside, even the manual had holes in it! The item was supposed to be brand new, but what they sent was either used, or had been abused in the back of a warehouse for years before someone dredged it up, slapped a shipping label on it, and sent it out. There is no way it got that damaged in transit alone. The item is unusable. So I email customer service who directed me to either send the item back or bring it into store for a replacement. There's no way a mail carrier is going to take the package in the current state and I didn't have a box or anything to send it back in so I called up some of the local stores. The nearest one to me is a 40 minute drive one way. So now, not only have they wasted my time by sending me an item that quality control should have pointed out as broke, but now they've inconvenienced me into having to spend at least 2 hours of my own time fixing their mistake. The employees at the store were nice enough, but when I arrived it was packed and I ended up waiting another half hour on top of everything to get my replacement. Then they tried to charge me extra for insurance on the item. There is no way I am ever shopping here again. And if you choose to, don't do it online. Even the employee kind of scoffed at the state of the box and said that it happens frequently with online orders. At least the cashier was nice, they were the only upside to this entire problem. read more

I enjoy being told one line, then the one check stand backs up, then another stand opens and takes people not in line. I stood in line with my deck in hand for a while and got skipped. I could not find the key to a trailer hitch lock and went to Harbor Freight to replace thinking they may be a standard key within the same style -- nope!. I recently purchased a manually pumped log splitter from Harbor Freight tools in Saginaw, MI. When I opened box to assemble it, the only thing I had to do was insert the 2 handles into the pump- no tools required. Tried a damp, old pine stump with a few knots, and it popped right away. The one handle pumps a larger hydraulic cylinder for fast ejection of the piston. When wood hits the splitting V, it becomes harder to pump, so you switch over to the other handle - which has a more powerful - but shorter push of the piston. It powered thru some larger logs easily. You unscrew the knob at top, and the springs draw the piston back quickly - ready for the next log. No gas fumes, no electricity used, has wheels to move it around, and is a pleasant little workout. Two people can get a lot of splitting done quickly, but alone it is easy and leisurely to use. I gave it the highest rating because for a bit over a hundred dollars, and no flaws, it is a joy to use. read more

Walked in yesterday to find a bench buffer, female employee greeted me and took charge. She showed me several grinder/buffers, the one she showed me was a combination. She had one brought up to the register, signed me up as a club member, saved $30 and future purchase savings. Buffer is a 1 HP, I set it up with a buffing Wheel and wire wheel. This is the place to go when you're sick of the cheaply made crap they sell at the large home improvement stores that we all know. We all still go to them...they're everywhere & convenient...and I guess it's not all crap, but a lot of it is...and what isn't crap is way over priced. Here, they have real solid tools at cheap prices...but not cheaply made. I love their small utility sheers...simple, sharp & sturdy & under $2.
