Extremely Disappointing Experience - Would Not Recommend Happy Valley Lights
I used Happy Valley Lights last year to install Christmas lights on my home and spent over $1,200 for their service. I purchased the lights outright, carefully organized them in a storage bin, and was looking forward to using them again this year. Naturally, I planned to use the same company, especially as a returning customer.
I contacted them weeks in advance and specifically scheduled October 29 for this year's installation. I confirmed the date, received confirmation that I was on their schedule, and made arrangements to be home and available.
The morning of the appointment came and went. Nobody showed up. Nobody called. Nobody texted. My bin of Christmas lights had been sitting outside my front door since 8 a.m. and because I had scheduled and planned I was left sitting and waiting (very unprofessional). I eventually had to reach out to them myself to find out what was going on.
Their initial response was that the technician had already driven by my house, knocked on my door, and nobody answered. This was particularly frustrating considering the bin of lights was sitting right outside my front door. I even sent them a picture of it and questioned how someone could supposedly knock on my door and somehow miss the bin sitting directly in front of it.
The following morning, I received another explanation. This time, I was told the technician had actually entered the wrong address entirely. In other words, he had never even been to my house. They acknowledged that he should have contacted me and apologized for the lack of communication.
Let's be clear: Mistakes happen. I understand that. But scheduling a returning customer, failing to show up, providing an inaccurate explanation about having knocked on the door, and only getting an honest explanation after being confronted is unacceptable.
What bothers me most is the complete lack of communication and accountability. I spent good money with this company last year, had everything ready for them, scheduled well in advance, and made arrangements around their appointment. My time is valuable, too.
I ultimately told them I had decided to take my business elsewhere. I won't be using Happy Valley Lights again, and I certainly wouldn't recommend them based on this experience.
