Super disappointed by my experience at Happy Tooth. I went in for a first appointment (X-rays, cleaning, and exam). Diane, the dental hygienist that took my X-rays and did my cleaning was fantastic. However, when Dr. Singh came in, he took 2 minutes taking a look at my teeth and told me I was in need of an urgent root canal. He urged me to walk next door to receive a endodontist consult immediately. I used my better judgement and decided to receive a 2nd opinion. At the other dentist office, the Dr. did a vitality test to determine whether or not the tooth was in fact dead and it was not. That dentist was able to place a crown and I avoided a root canal altogether. I am so disappointed that Happy Tooth was so quick to recommend an unnecessary root canal and didn't take the proper time to evaluate the tooth. Additionally, I believe they used fear tactics around the root canal procedure and possible pain if I waited any longer so that I would use the endodontist that they do "business" with. Can't help but feel as though it was all about the bottom line all along. They also have a page on their website describing their holistic dentistry approach which I find very misleading considering I was recommended to use fluoride toothpaste and receive a root canal during my first appointment. read more

Avoid! Dr. Augustyn told both my husband and I that we had sleep apnea which is crazy! I am fairly certain dentist cannot diagnose sleep apnea. She told me that I had ground my teeth down so bad there was zero enamel left. We have both had follow-up visits with different doctors and both of those claims have been discredited. Some fluid from their dental equipment leaked into my mouth and they didn't know what it was!

You want a Saturday appointment? Forget it. Evenings? Suck it. I have to admit that I was once a very big fan of happy tooth. They were very accommodating and good with their patients. All that has changed. On more than one occasion, I have had appointments moved at the last minute, appointments canceled at the last minute. The last straw was this morning when I was called at 10 AM to tell me that my appointment tomorrow morning at 9 AM was being canceled. I understand that emergencies come up, but when they tell me that they tried to get a hold of me all week?? That's not an emergency. It was also a lie. I took the day off of work and made special arrangements to work with their schedule, which is very patient un- friendly. When I cancel an appointment with them without 24 hours notice, I get charged 50 bucks. When do I get my 50 bucks? Don't use them if you are expecting a dentist that will work with your schedule. The email that they sent was clearly being typed while the receptionist was on the phone with me. I replied to the email asking if they would credit me $50 for the late cancellation fee. Dr. Singh curtly replied with "no ". It's not that the appointment was canceled. It's the fact that they told me that they had tried to get a hold of me for a week. Don't treat me like I'm stupid. Don't go here. I took my son here for 10 years then they dropped our insurance. We went every 6 months for cleanings/check up. After we were dropped we saw 2 new dentists shopping around. So I have been going to this dentist for about 7 years for myself and my son. And I will never go there again. They have got to a point that they they are only trying to sell you procedures. The dentists don't do any diagnosing, they have the dental hygienist come in and tell you what extras you need. They then refuse to do the cleaning you came for and insist you make another appointment to do whatever extra thing the hygienist says. This happened at separate checkups for me and my son and my husband within several weeks of each other. None of us got the cleaning we were scheduled for, and we were all told we needed extra procedures and would have to make extra appointments. After 7 years of going every 6 months for me and 4 months for my son. Never again. Don't waste your time or money! read more

Very pleasant experience with Dr. Augustyn! Took my 9yo daughter, who is VERY apprehensive when it comes to even a basic cleaning and exam, in for a visit with Dr. A & she left the office calm and content. Dr. A was patient & kind, and made what seemed to be an impossible job, possible- all in a reasonable amount of time w/ very little discomfort. After getting my daughter into the car, I asked how she felt about her experience with Dr. A, and she replied, "FIVE STARS, MOM!" My daughter was very appreciative that Dr. A listened to her & took short breaks when she experienced discomfort. This place is horrible. I went here to get a simple cleaning and it was a weird experience and totally felt like they just want to con people. The assistant I had was super awesome but then the X-ray takers took forever and then the not so friendly female dentist literally just comes in, pokes ONE time in my mouth and says I need a deep cleaning and she can't perform a regular cleaning. AND they said I had 2 cavities and presented me with an estimate over $1800! Uhhhhh no.Total waste of time. I went to another dentist and they took xrays and my teeth didn't need a deep cleaning and I have no cavities!!! And this place wanted $30 just to email my xrays to the new dentist! HELL NO! I decided I would rather pay the new dentist $55 then give any money to this place. Not so happy.... After having a 6 month lapse in dental insurance, I called Happy Tooth to schedule an appt for my husband and I. As of Sept 2013, the earliest that they could schedule us was 6 months out (Feb 2014). Too long to wait for a cleaning. I made an appt with another Elmhurst dentist and then called Happy Tooth back to see if they could email my last x-rays to the new dentist. $30 charge to transfer records! Eh...I'll skip it. :/ Still though, those are my dental records, I should be able to pick up a copy for free or have them emailed. At least that is my opinion! read more

I will NEVER go there again! The office staff is rude, doesnt return messages PLUS Dr. Augustin said I need to pay an extra $280 because she screwed up!!! So I basically had to pay for her poor planning / estimating. THen she threatened to report me to the credit bureau if I didnt pay up. I had to see Dr. A for a very traumatic dental procedure. I cannot explain how wonderful every staff member has been through this rough time. Dr actually called me to give me some encouraging words. Manny, the hygienist, was also beyond kind. He explained all of the procedures and did everything he could to ensure all went smooth with the least amount of anxiety. As far as the billing... Also not an issue! I was given a breakdown of everything that would be done, how much my insurance was paying and how much I owed. After having a terrible experience with another dentist I went to Happy Tooth and was so delighted by the contrast! Dr. Singh discussed my desires for my teeth and explained all my options. His care and that of his staff was always superior. I noticed in another review a comment about floss and toothpaste not available. I found it was always available on the receptionist's counter. Another reviewer complained that Dr. Augustin is "rude", but I never found that to be the case. She performed a root canal on me and I had no problems. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. I found it a blessing to have found this office. After dealing with multiple offices who had no interest in taking care of their patients properly, I've fount this office to be a breath of fresh air! Especially with the amount of work the both of us need! My wife and I highly recommend Dr. Augustyn. The true test of her compassion of taking care of her patients came on Mothers Day last year when my wife was in horrible pain. We reached out to her and were very apologetic to have bothered her on her vacation, especially on Mothers Day. Dr. Augustyn contacted my wife back immediately and was able to call in an antibiotic and gave her ideas to deal with pain. She also ensured that my wife could come in the next day to see Dr. Singh. She even called my wife the next day, while on vacation, to see how she was feeling. Since then, we have both setup a dental treatment plan. They worked out the best route to take that is safest for us and makes the most financial sense. The front office staff took time to go through multiple pricing options and timelines. I had a frustrating experience here which caused me to switch after about 8 years of service. I go to the dentist faithfully for cleanings every 6 months. Its a hike from where I live to Elmhurst but if it's a good provider I'm loyal. I never have a lapse in visits. Dr Singh came in to visit me for about 5 minutes at a checkup -friendly as always- looked at my mouth and said everything looked great! Then his dental hygenist came in said my gums looked awful (in a rude tone), refused to do a regular cleaning and said I needed a very expensive deep cleaning procedure 4x a year. I think it was going to be about $1700 oop as insurance would only cover a portion. She proceeded to scold me about not flossing enough and how bad my "deep pockets" were. At this point I'm shocked she's talking to me like I'm 3 and if everything was so bad all of a sudden why did Dr Singh say everything was great 2 minutes ago??? I went for a second opinion with a highly- recommended dentist closer to my home. Im very glad I did Not only did did she (the Dentist, not her hygenist) say I didn't have poor gums she explained that my insurance wouldn't even cover part of the procedure because my gums are fine and don't even qualify for deep cleanings and a regular cleaning was perfectly fine. I have been a patient for years and Happy Tooth has been an exceptional dentist, specially in comparison to the several other dentists I have used in the past. They always have helped make my care affordable and I've never had any issues after having work done. Other dentists I have had always try to get me to get work I don't need done or have caused me pain, but that has never been the case at Happy Tooth. Everyone is always professional, the cleanings are thorough, and fillings have always been easy and painless. My children and I have been patients of Happy Tooth for some years now. I must say I love both Dr. Maggie and Dr. Singh. Recently, I had to have a tooth extracted.Dr. Maggie explained the procedure step by step. A few days went by and I began having complications which was expected. I was able to get an emergency appointment ASAP. Dr. Maggie explained what was going on and took care of me right then. She also, checked in on me over the next 2 days. Prior to having the work completed, her staff gave me a charge summary showing what I would be responsible for, of which I signed stating I accepted the charges. Terrible. The hygienist could not keep her eyes off the TV and kept messing up my xrays. By the end, my mouth was shredded from those things you have to bite on. Dr. Augustyn was very aggressive and chipped my permanent retainer. When I told her, she laughed and said "Don't worry, I break it, I buy it." I've been going here since 2009. My first visit with Dr. Singh was decent, but things went downhill real fast. The cleaning services were generally subpar and typically ended with a rough and abrasive final pass conducted by the dentist on call. Dr. Augustin is rude and her staff takes on a similar persona as if they're doing us a favor. In every visit, they will try to add additional optional services so you always have to stay on top of things and know when to say no (this happened to both myself and my wife)-otherwise you will be surprised by the bill. There was also the time my wife had a straightforward crown procedure become a multiple visit affair when they messed up on seemingly everything from the anesthesia to the actual crown. Needless to say we probably should've stopped coming here, but were too lazy to find a new dentist. Last straw finally came when I got a collections notice about services from Happy Tooth conducted almost a year back. Apparently Dr. Augustin decided to label my regular cleaning a more complex dental procedure. Unfortunately for me, they sent my bill to the wrong address and never reached me by phone so my final balance included two late fees. I called to dispute, but the office manager wouldn't budge. Finally I was able to get them to rescind the late fees, but still had to pay for the added service (which didn't even seem different from the other times I had cleaning done at their clinic). I never got an apology, but I guess it's more important that they can pay for the new wing they added to their office. At the end of the day, this is probably on me for not having seen all the red flags. Hopefully, I can help pay it forward by helping someone else through this review. read more

Totally recommend Happy Tooth!! We have been with Dr Singh for about 18 years. My daughter started with Dr Singh when she was 5. My fiancé' needed a new dentist and Happy Tooth is who I recommended. He was a little nervous not having been to a dentist in quite a while. Dr Singh was amazing he took the time to make sure he was comfortable and not in any discomfort and also gave options for future appointments if he's interested. Do not use these dentists!!! The work conducted within this office is terribly inadequate. I recently had some fillings done by one of the dentists that had to be replaced within two weeks by another, obviously more trained and professional, dentist. I was in a lot of pain after the procedure and went back in a few days later to ensure that everything was done correctly. The dentist assured me that everything was alright and that the fillings were fine and the pain was normal. He insisted that the pain I was experiencing would go away within a few days. Well, I was still in a lot of pain a week later so I decided to see a new dentist. The new dentist spent significantly more time with me just addressing the potential issues than the original dentist from Happy Tooth. The new dentist was able to point out for me on an X-Ray where decay had not been treated from the first procedure. The new dentist also took digital photos (something Happy Tooth is not up to speed with) of the inside of my mouth and was able to point out several issues with my bite from the original procedure. Additionally, when I told the new dentist how long the orginal procedure took with all of the work was involved he was appalled at how quickly Happy Tooth had tried to complete the work. It was very easy for the new dentist to conclude that the original work was rushed and relatively careless. I'm very bothered and frustrated that I had to incur out-of-pocket expenses for both the original work, and the corrective work that I had to have done by the new dentist. Happy Tooth, by my account, is outdated with technology, or doesn't care enough to utilize it appropriately since a new dentist was able to illustrate very easily what types of issues my teeth were experiencing. read more

Don't waste your time! The office staff is unprofessional and more interested in gossiping with each other than taking care of customers. Stuck waiting for an hour on a Saturday appointment when flooding "prevented anyone from getting to the office". Even though we made it fine and drove in the same conditions. At least have someone change the answering machine at the office number remotely or have the dentists answer their cell phones to let us know that no one can make it in so that customers are not waiting around wondering if someone is coming and just running a little late. We found out later in the week (didn't return our messages for 4 days) that no one arrived at the office until 2:00 pm on that Saturday so they were not even attempting to show up for our 10:00 am appointment. This office charges customers for missed appointments, but didn't give us any compensation for wasting our Saturday morning, not even an apology. We would not recommend this office to anyone. You will be much better off finding a different practice. read more

I was a loyal patient to this office for a couple of years, until recently. I went there a few months ago for an infected tooth that needed to be extracted. I left there with an appointment to have a bridge installed instead, worth a few thousand dollars. The extraction would have been just under $200. I trusted that I was being steered in the best way medically. However, after the bridge was installed and waiting 2-3 months for the extraction, my appointment for the extraction was canceled the same day. I was told that after looking at my x-ray again, the dentist decided it was best to refer me to a different dentist. Why wasn't I told this when I showed up the first time? Why wasn't my infected tooth handled first?? To make matters worse, I don't even think the bridge was installed correctly. BUT I refuse to go back, they have completely lost my trust. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT GO HERE! Though it has been a long while since I went here, it was one of the WORST experiences ever. Had to have a crown put in and my tooth worked on. The female "dentist" had no idea how to administer novocaine. I was given 6 shots (I was told by a REAL dentist that no more than 3 should have been given) When I asked her why it's not working, she told me that this was not her 'forte" I'm assuming that to be a dentist, one would have to know how to administer novocaine as basic dentistry. Needless to say, nothing was done that wasted day. When I came back and it was time to put the crown in, the crown was HUMONGOUS!!!! When I mentioned it to Dr. "I'm so full of myself that I had a doll made of me" Singh, he thought it was funny and said it wasn't that big. All they care about is money and how much they can botch up your dental work. And all of the help there are more concerned with their looks than helping patients. Take my advice. Get a bottle of whiskey, drink it, apply on your affected tooth, and do the work yourself. You'll do a better and more professional job than these clowns. read more
