Needless to say, I put off going to the dentist for several years because of this. 3 months ago I finally gathered up the courage to go see a dentist (Dr.Thomas Brown in Naperville) They told me I had 12 cavities and needed 2 crowns and all the work needed to be done immediately, starting with the crowns. I couldn't believe it... Despite not going to the dentist in a few years I take very good care of my teeth. Plus, I have no pain or sensitivity to any of my teeth. I felt as if they were trying to rip me off. At that point, I told them I needed to get a second opinion. I started asking around and some friends and family recommended I go see Dr. Mark in Elmhurst, so I called and set up and appointment. I sent him my x-rays and images the previous dentist had taken so he could look at the same images as the last dentist. When I arrived for my appointment I was very nervous, but he made me feel extremely welcomed. Dr. Mark has a great personality and I immediately felt relaxed. The atmosphere is not like the typical dentist office. The room is round, classical music playing through surround sound, great lighting, and the dental chair has a back massager in it. That's right, a back massager! He has the hightech equipment and uses no drill lasers to fill cavities...pretty amazing stuff. After looking over my X-rays Dr. Mark said I might need one crown in a year or two, and I have a few old fillings that might need to be replaced in a few years. He told me that he wouldn't do anything that doesn't need to be done...now that's a dentist you can truly trust. Now, I actually look forward to going to the dentist. I highly, highly, highly recommend him. Thanks Dr. Mark!!

I have bad teeth due to Celiac disease, lots of cavities and crowns. But sadly, that has now come to an end. His skills as a dentist are not in question. Over the past few years I have had issues with his billing department. I have dental insurance and Dr. Pahopos is in network for me. This means I should be charged the contracted rate my insurance company has negotiated with Dr. Pahopos for various procedures. After every visit, every procedure, I get an invoice for an incorrect amount. I have always been overcharged.  I have to maintain spreadsheets and provide EOBs to prove the invoices are wrong. Once I go through that hassle, the billing department corrects my invoice. I warn all patients to be smart about keeping an eye on such things. I don't know if the billing department is incompetent or trying to rip me off.  The straw that broke the camel's back was my latest cleaning. I came in the office and Becky told me Dr. Pahopos was not in the office to do my exam.  She said Dr. Basko was working that day.  She checked and Dr. Basko is out of network for me so I declined the exam and just got the cleaning telling her that Dr. Pahopos can do my exam on my next visit.  I never saw or met Dr. Basko. The billing department submitted the claim to my insurance under Dr. Basko's name and not Dr. Pahopos' name.  My insurance viewed that as out of network and covered less of the claim.  I contacted the billing department and they said this is office policy to submit claims based on the doctor in the office that day. I wonder if both are in the office, which they choose? Anyway they said they would make a ONE TIME EXCEPTION to correct the claim. That does not sit right with me.  It feels like fraud.  It feels like the billing department does not have my best interests in mind.  It feels like the billing department is not respecting my choice of dentists and my insurance. I asked the billing department to have Dr. Pahopos call me to discuss.  I actually wanted to tell him why I would be leaving his practice to look for another dentist.  Having to deal with this billing department is too much hassle and too much work.  I never received a call from Dr. Pahopos.  Either his billing department never gave him my request to have him call me or he does not give a crap about me.  I don't think this is good business and I don't want to support a business that is working against me, not working to support me. Again, I warn all patients to be smart about keeping an eye on their bills.

I hate dentists. I have hated them since I was seventeen (I am forty-five now). At seventeen, I…read moreneeded a root canal and the dentist and endodontist that I saw, did not know that my upper jaw does not stay numb and even with fourteen shots of novacaine, they proceeded with doing a root canal on one of my upper molars. I felt everything. I was traumatised. It took another seventeen years for me to step foot back in a dentists office, and that was to have yet another root canal done. The dentist had to give me IV sedation to do the procedure. The oral surgeon had to do the same to remove my wisdom teeth. Every visit was traumatic. I went only when I was forced to and I paid dearly for it, not only mentally but also physically and financially. (I wont even get into the trauma that my son faced from an early age as well.) Fast forward ten years and I decided it was time to leave Addison Dental because they were ripping me off financially. I began a search for someone new. I asked people for referrals. I talked to my family, I searched online... No one really had great things to say like they do with their doctors. I never felt comfortable with the answers I was receiving. And then there was the dreaded insurance issue..... the worst chokehold on any dental decision we ever need to make. I did a local google search and found Dr Sullivan. I skimmed thru his website and moved on. He looked good but websites can be deceiving in my experience. I looked at a number of other locals and then at a new "chain" type practice that opened near my chiropractor. I decided nothing looked any better, but something specific kept drawing me back to Dr Sullivan. He had a section on his website about what he does on his Fridays, how he helps people in need by offering them free dentistry, giving back to his community. He didn't put the information in a prominent spot so that everyone would notice it first thing when his site was visited, but it was there and it stayed with me. I made the appointment. Again, it had become an emergency. He took me in immediately and literally coddled me as if I was one of his own children. He listened to my worries, soothed my fears and made sure that he did everything he could possibly do to help me, to fix me without undue stress. And then he began to assess the damage that all the rest of the dentists had caused over the years and slowly, we have built a trust bond and he has been restoring my faith in him as a dentist and restoring my healthy smile. I have entrusted him with my family and referred my sister to him who needed an emergency root canal done (yep, it's a family affliction lol). I will continue to refer anyone and everyone that I know because not only does Dr Sullivan do damned good work, he has heart and he makes you feel like you are a big part of his family. More than that, his has worked hard to make sure that his staff has the same work ethic and will treat you the same way that he does. I don't give reviews easily, but this one was most deserved. Thank you Dr Sullivan, for restoring my faith and my smile. -Jennifer

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!…read more I just walked out of my cleaning appointment at Dr. Malecki's office and I must say, I am blown away by what I just experienced. I didn't even get to see Dr. Malecki. I walked out before I even got done dealing with his assistant. I checked in with the receptionist and then a woman named Carol, who I am assuming is some sort of assistant, got me all setup for my cleaning. She sat me down, put the little drool towel on me, and then sat next to me and pulled up some x-rays that were taken about 6 months ago on my last visit. She then proceeded to start a completely incoherent rant that went like this, "I dont know if we should take new x-rays. I'm not sure what we are going to do today. These x-rays that we have are only of the left side of your mouth. So maybe we should take full mouth x-rays. I'm not sure. I don't know if we are going to do that or not today. I think we could, but I don't know. Because all I see here is the left side of your mouth. So I'm not sure what we are going to do today. I don't really know." HUH? At this point I start off by correcting her. Carol, those x-rays are actually of the right side of my mouth, not the left side. She said, "oh, you're right. Forgive me, I just got back from lunch." But in addition to correcting her, I also told her that her uncertainty and her constantly saying she's not sure and that she doesn't know what we should do isn't exactly giving me any confidence in her, and maybe it's best if we don't do anything today. You should know that I'm here for a cleaning. That is what I scheduled. So why do you keep saying that you don't know what we are going to do today and you're not sure what we are going to get done? And as for the x-rays, you are the "expert" not me. So you tell me if we need them or not. She then goes, "okay well lets just dive right in then." and she starts to lay out a few tools. But then after 30 seconds she again starts rambling... "you know, without x-rays it makes it hard to do anything because I cant see what I'm getting into beforehand. So I dont know. Maybe we should take x-rays. I'm not sure what we should do today." At this point, enough is enough. I get out of the chair and cancel the appointment. I personally don't know if x-rays are or are not needed, because I'm not the freakin' dentist. You are supposed to be the professional. Not me. If we need x-rays, fine. I am there to see a professional and follow their expertise and guidance, but this woman literally said she didnt know and she wasn't sure easily 20 different times, if not more than that, all within the matter of like 3 or 4 minutes. Part of me wonders if she had a beverage or two on her lunch break because she didn't seem to have any desire at all to do any actual work. So again, I didn't even get to see Dr. Malecki. All I got to do was deal with some woman, Carol, who made it seem like it was her first day on the job, even though when I confronted her about this she claimed to have 30 years experience. There was no confidence coming from her. No certainty. No reassuring. No decision making. Everything was "I dont know" and "Im not sure." I am there to see a professional and have the work performed by an expert. Carol came off as completely clueless (incorrectly identifying my existing x-rays), unsure of herself, incapable of making a decision and completely unqualified..... I am blown away by what I just experienced. Part of me thinks that maybe she was trying to "up sell" the x-rays in addition to the cleaning, but all of the "I dont know" and "Im not sure" junk was just sooo alarming. Had she just said, "you need new x-rays" I would have been like okay, cool, because she's supposed to be the expert. But "maybe you need them. maybe you dont. i dont know if we are going to do that or not. im not sure. i dont know what we are going to do today." WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?!?!?! No thank you, Carol. I will find a different dentist who does know and who is sure.

This new office is beautiful and offers a variety of treatments. Whether you are looking for a complete smile makeover, routine dental needs, facial, skin care, etc. I have struggled with this review simply because I can't find the words to even do it justice. I feel like Dr. Ivan has completely changed my life for the better. And that's an understatement. I'm finally happy with my smile and living pain free without any of the issues I had before. I went completely out of my way to get to this office (about a 45 min drive each way). And I wouldn't even consider going elsewhere now. The icing on the cake was I never felt a bit of pain through the entire process. Every single staff member is kind and honest. I truly feel sorry for people I know who go elsewhere and end up paying double for wrong/bad work I've seen. I won't ever go anywhere else again! If you are looking for cosmetic dentistry or just wanting a healthy smile I can't urge you enough to look no further than Radiante!

Thank you Dr. Ivan,…read more It was an honor to be a part in the documentary, as well as being your patient. I saw the documentary as a means to "pay it forward" to all of the Radante team the for the unique and personalized care. I remember my first visit which was for critical tooth extraction, my habits were not healthy. With shame and fear of what the result of my neglect may be... now I can look at my smile each morning with pride (while flossing) for the rest of my life. If it was not for the humble honesty, persistence and transparency of the Radante team in restoring my oral health, I'd be looking in the mirror today ashamed. I still have bad habits to break, as well as good habits to make but the foundation set through the work will stand as a reminder for all my years to come. To me that is the confidence a good smile brings I would not have had the confidence to participate in a documentary on oral health! It is my pleasure and honor to have been a part in commemorating this great effort. I do believe the eyes are the window to the soul: an evil glare or a tearful eye can be negated with a smile: the reflection of the soul.
