Can't recommend her highly enough. She helped our dog stay alive and have a great last few years.

Thanks to the entire friends at kapaau vet center for taking extra wonderful care to our pet…read morefamily. Our precious friend coco passed away peacefully with Dr. Hicks and her fabulous team. Going over and beyond for us to always remember Coco, they gave us a paw print and a beautiful lock of his fur! What a fantastic thing to do for us!!!! Very well appreciated for all they do!! Top notch friends for life!! Again thanks so much to all of you. 10000000 stars!!! Elgin and Wilma

Dr. Woodley and her staff are the most compassionate and loving people I have ever encountered in…read morethe veterinary world here on the Big Island. Although it's an hour and 20 minutes (one way) away from where I live, I actually did it again in January for a follow up appointment and will be going again in March. I initially went to a vet here in Kona to deal with a growth on my cat's mouth which proved to be cancerous. The vet removed as much as they could safely but some of it couldn't be removed. A biopsy was sent to an oncologist who suggested chemo and radiation immediately as I was told the cancer would come back with a vengeance. I wouldn't consider either of those treatments for myself so I wasn't about to put my cat through it either. I requested alternative treatments and was told they didn't have any so I asked for a holistic vet recommendation which led to Dr. Woodley and the Kapaau clinic. Dr. Woodley put my cat on some herbs in hopes that it would stop the growth of her tumor. Not only did it STOP the growth, but it SHRANK it. Had I gone with the initial recommendation, my cat would probably not be alive today as her life prognosis on the previously mentioned treatments was only a few months and she would have been miserable throughout the treatment. Today, she runs around like a kitten (she's 15 years old) and you would never know this cat had a serious bout with cancer. I have to give her the herbs daily, however, that's hardly a price to pay when I consider the alternative. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Woodley if you are looking for a natural way to care for your pet.

As it was only 7.15am they could by the time I arrived at 8.15am. They charge $270 for an emergency appointment, $370 if it is before 8am so my driving time worked to my advantage. The staff took my cat into a room without me, don't know why, and it made me uncomfortable as I wanted to be there for him. The vet came out to tell me his bladder was plugged and needed emptying. I was given 2 options, one in house where they keep him for 3 days at the surgery $5K, the other for them to sedate and unblock the urethra/bladder and he is taken home$1k. I chose the latter as we can look after him at home and give him meds etc. The staff were great, from the gals at the front desk to the vet and vet techs. Very friendly and informative and even forgave me bringing my poor puss in a Trader Joes zip up grocery bag! (I couldn't find where hubby had stored his crate and it was an emergency so I grabbed the first thing I could find in the garage....it was the way I brought him home as a kitten too after I found him dying on the Maui Costco lot!). Emergency vet treatment is always a big hit in the pocket and Central is definitely up there, but we have no vet clinic on the west side now so there is no alternative :(

I knew…read moresomething serious was going on with her right hind leg so I specifically chose this vet because they supposedly offered mobile service in the event I had to euthanize her. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. The first few visits, the staff were friendly and accommodating given the circumstances. Once the vet was out on maternity leave, the staff became negligent and unsympathetic. I have been providing palliative care and had to wait three days for my pup's meds and had to call back to check on the status as my dog is now severely suffering and the meds are the only way for me to help mitigate the pain. A few days ago, I called as it is now time to consider putting her down. I called asking if anyone can come out and did not receive a call back. I called a few days later upset and distraught and complained about not receiving a call back and the staff member who answered the phone refused to schedule an appointment and told me to go to a clinic. She did not even specify which one or where. The lack of compassion and professional misconduct was overwhelming. If I ever adopt another dog, there is no way in hell I would ever bring my pet here. Strapped for cash, the cost of service is unwarranted for the poor quality of care received. Do not bring your pet here.

BEWARE of boarding at the Alpha-K9 facility. We boarded our cat, Bernadette, for four nights in…read moreOctober 2022. When we returned, we were told SHE WAS MISSING! We could have left her at home, but we made the decision to board her TO BE SURE SHE WOULD BE SAFE. Not only was Bernadette lost, possibly never to be in our home and part of our lives again, but she was lost ten miles from home. Bernadette is part of our family so we were devastated. The cat cages at Alpha-K9 are made of plywood and hardware cloth which are enclosed inside a secondary "building". Bernadette escaped her cage by pushing through its rotted plywood. She then escaped through holes in the secondary housing. The people at Alpha-K9 are nice, but the cat boarding facility is of substandard construction and is inadequate to safely board felines. Alpha-K9's owner, claimed they had recently worked to improve the cat boarding area before our cat escaped. She also claimed that they had never lost a cat before. As we spoke with neighbors of Alpha-K9, one individual told us of a cat previously gone missing from the facility. During the time spent searching, we realized mosquitoes are terrible at the facility. The presence of mosquitoes put your pet at risk of mosquito borne disease such as heartworms. We searched the ten mile area for twelve days. Hope faded with each passing day, but we were fortunate and on day twelve, we found her hiding in the grass on a neighboring property. She was thin, dehydrated, and traumatized but we were reunited. Be forewarned of boarding at Alpha-K9. **in response to Laurels comment. Laurel, our cat Bernadette is extremely friendly and during her first stay with you was apprehensive as it was her first time being boarded. We explained that to you prior to bringing her the second time. Bernadette is not a wild animal, the rotten wood seemed to be the real issue. How unfortunate you can't acknowledge your shortcomings. So far as our inspection of your facilities goes, I would recommend anyone choosing to use Alpha-K-9 do an "extreme review" as obviously the cursory review we did did not expose rotted wood and substandard secondary containment fencing. Regarding your interpretation of what kind of cats you choose to board. I recommend you don't board cats. That's your choice, we are just sharing our experience so other folks don't suffer the same as we did.
