The name Happy Pet Place is a misnomer! When we first started using them, the very curt owner left me questioning why I was using them, but we reluctantly took our 2 small dogs there for grooming, for several months. Not once did the dogs come back with the grooming I requested. Each time the dogs came home, they were both highly stressed. The last visit took 6 hrs before I was called to pick them up. When I brought my Morkie in for grooming today, I learned why her legs and feet had been very little grooming done. The owner very curtly informed me, that she was very fussy and they will not "force" a dog to be groomed.....I was stunned. The previous groomer we had been using, for over 5 ys (unfortunately the groomer retired) had no problem is grooming her legs and feet. I was told to find another groomer if I wanted her legs and feet groomed. I was also informed that I could not reschedule our second dog because there was not sufficient notice...I explained that she just became ill before I came in. Didn't matter. Obviously the warm reception finally made me finally decide that I would not let my dogs go anywhere near this "Happy Place"again. NEVER have we experienced such an unhappy, unfriendly place to do business with. I have no idea how they stay in business. read more

I was going in to this new place for my dog but then I realized no one was wearing a mask. Customers and employees were not wearing any face covering. The U.S. just surpassed a milestone in coronavirus deaths and this is one of the very few business that does NOT have anyone wear a mask. We sent Pumpkin here for doggy daycare for 10 days while we were on vacation. OMGosh, she loved it so much!! She played like she's never played before and she was VERY well cared for. They sent us pics and videos of our girl so we could see how much fun she was having. We also had her groomed while she was there and she came home smelling so lovely. Dana did such a nice job and said she behaved so well!! She can't wait to go back, each morning she wakes up and goes to the front do as if she's ready to go again. In fact, even though we're home all day every day, we decided to continue to send her to doggy daycare a few days a week and it's been so good for her!! Definitely not worth risking this place, and looking at the photos that the customers have provided it is Definitely unlikely that I am interested in bringing my dog here. Horrible place!! Came here twice and they messed up my dogs haircut! They cut it very short and saying that it was tangles and made the decision!! The employee was very rude and not professional at all and threatening with lawyers and police! It's ok I will just charge back the charge from my credit card! I am super disappointed in this place. First off let me start off by saying I fell in love with this place when me and my two dogs starting going there. I have a 1 year old lab and a 1 year old retriever. Every time they stayed, which was often, and even over night tbeh always came back with great report cards. I have recommended so many people to this place because they took great care of my dogs. Well recently I brought them on a rainy day so they can have some fun. When I arrived it was all new faces. I get a phone call about 5 hours later say my Duke, bit another dog. First off let me tell you about duke. He is a chocolate lab. He has never bit a human or a dog before. We go to the dog park almost every day. Strangers take toys out of his mouth and he never reacts. He is great at the vet and even plays with teacup dogs! So when I heard he bit another dog, I thought " do they have the right dog" I instantly rushed over to pick him up. I know my dogs I've had him since he was born. I asked to see the video tap (thinking they had cameras inside) of what happened. Cuz as the owner of the dog who "attacked" I'm pretty sure I have the right! She told me theh can no show me. Which is bullshit. She told me that duke is not ever allowed back! Did the dog have to go to the er? No. Was the dog bleeding? No. I smell BS. If my dog lets other dogs eat and drink from his bowls no way be bit another dog for NO reason. She also had the nerve to tell me " duke is just to excited to be here. It's not a good fit" oh really? Soo dogs shouldn't be excited to go to day care? What a joke. I have a feeling they have new workers so maybe we're intimated by a 85 pound dog. I work down the street at a hair salon from this day care. I will now spread the word. So sad because my dogs loved it there. I even would get pics of them always playing with other dogs. I want to share an experience we had this week at HPP and hopefully you won't have to go through the same thing we did. We dropped off our dog, Cairo, for a day and a half of boarding. When I picked him up he was obviously hurt. He was limping and laid down and wouldn't even walk to the car. His paw was completely raw and the manager insisted that he had been "fine" before I got there and this happens a lot to new clients because they aren't used to all the play. Our dog has been to Camp Bow Wow on numerous occasions and has been boarded over the summer for four days with no issues. I know that it was incredibly cold this week and they did send pictures of him playing outside. It seems to me that he was probably left outside for too long in this frigid temperature and that's how he became injured. I understand that accidents happen but this should not have gone undetected by the staff. The manager refused to take any responsibility for what happened and even told me we were no longer welcome there when I brought up my concerns. I asked to speak to the owner, Jolie, and was told that wasn't going to happen. I wouldn't trust HPP to take care of our dog ever again and it's obvious that they refuse to learn from their mistakes, so it will happen again. Hopefully, just not to you. read more

I have been working with this wonderful place for over 8 years and cannot ever say enough about them!!!! They take more than WONDERFUL care of the pets and TRULY care soo soo much for them. They have so much patience and are always willing to do whatever they can to help even train and socialize your dog. They are loving, kind , flexible, extremely hard working people who truly care about your animals. This is a hard job as it is to have all these dogs and I give them soo much credit everyday. Used to love this place but when I brought my dog back on a day were were moving homes, they told me his rabies shot expired the day before and they couldn't take him. I understand there are policies but they were extremely heartless and I've been taking my dog there for 2 years and promoting them them all time to people. I called back to speak with the manager and after she was also super rude and careless (I begged and told her I literally have no where else to take him) I told her she was losing a customer and she said "ok we will take you out of the system" and hung up. Now it's been a month, tempers cooled, got rabies shots and I call back and ask if we can come back and they said NOPE. He was taken out and there was an altercation so you can never come back. I literally begged and apologized. NOPE. So glad these people are perfect humans that never get upset in really stressful situations. This place used to be fabulous. I took my dog there about 2 days a week, we boarded her several times, and did two full rounds of training, all before the pandemic. Unfortunately, since re-opening, it's not even close to the same. I didn't go as often, because I'm home and didn't need to, but every time I did, the staff was new. The old HPP was the kind of place that opened 15 minutes early for me so I could drop off my dog before a doctor appointment. On my last visit (which will be the last ever), they gave me a hard time about picking up my dog early, they said pickup time is 6 for dogs who got a bath, I wanted to get her at 4:45. I said I don't care if she's wet, I want to come get my dog. Then, when I pick her up, they tell me that she is too hyper when she gets there (imagine that, a dog that's excited to play....that's why she goes to daycare), and that she needs to come more often; a minimum of 3 days a week, or she can't come at all. So the $60 i spent in a day for daycare and grooming wasn't enough....? I'm told that they've had a change in management, and this is the new rule. Needless to day, I told whoever he was that we won't be back. But that's not the worst of it. My dog was COWERING the entire night after she got home, terrified of every noise, every shadow, and acting like she was afraid we were going to hurt her. There was nothing physically wrong with her that we could see. She has NEVER acted like this in the 100+ times we've brought her home from HPP. I have no idea what happened, but clearly something frightened her terribly. She's fine now, after a day of cuddling and extra treats she was back to her old self. We'll be sticking to the dog park for now, and will find a new place for daycare in the spring when we start traveling again. read more

My dog loves going here, in fact he didn't want to leave when I went to pick him up.. Boo hoo for me. When I get him home, he cries for his friends. I can't say enough good things about this place I have a pitbull mix and he is such a good boy he loves playing there. As a dog owner that works quite a bit I needed to find a place for my dog to live her best life while I am away at work. The new owners of this place has made incredible changes including complete transparency, The owner has done a tremendous amount of rescue work with animals and has a heart of gold. I don't live far away from this place so on a few occasions I drove by while scouting out this place and was incredibly impressed with how the animals are treated they play with them outside they have kitty pools for the dogs to swim in the staff is how old accountable and are highly trained and have a passion for what they do. A couple of my friends live behind this business and they have said the same thing because they have a Birdseye view from their condo and they themselves can personally vouch for this place they will sit on their patio and watch the staff play with the dogs. This place is the best kept secret and their grooming is top notch they have a couple of award-winning groomers. I would encourage anyone who's looking for a good place to bring their dog to bring their dog to this place they give you a tour anytime and I they have a lot of integrity. read more

My dog Leah has been going to Happy Pet Place for over a year. She loves it there. But since they have reopened after Covid I've seen all new faces. Today I was told after a year of glowing reviews & how much they love her I was told she can't come back because she escapes from the kennels. Which I was told in the past that she does get out of those but the put her in a bedroom & she is fine. Today I was told she can't be contained & has destroyed crates. If I was told this before I would of gladly offered to pay to replace them. My review is no reflection on Matt Sarah Amanda & I think Katie & all the people who worked the front desk prior. Leah will miss you all. You guys are the best. I'm disappointed in the new management & when asked to speak to the owner I was told I couldn't which is terrible customer service. So hours after my dog gets expelled I call to enroll her in a new daycare. The new daycare asks if I mind if they call happy pet place. I sat sure no problem. Happy pet place confirms Leah is good with other dogs & playtime. But they tell the new day care that Leah has destroyed kennels which today was the first I heard of this. I know she escaped I didn't know she destroyed them. Then they said she destroyed walls doors & fences. Which I was never made aware of. Every report card I ever got was good! Happy Pet Place defines the true meaning of customer service and they consistently deliver the highest quality of care and love for my puppy. I've been a loyal customer for 6 months and I've never been to an establishment where it's more clear that people love their job like the staff of HPP. My dog always leaves tired, and the few ounces of energy she does have left she would rather spend with her favorites Autumn, Robert or Jolie. Especially Robert! The time and consideration that HPP put into explaining to me how they run their business gave me the assurance that I can be gone for an entire day or even leave the dog overnight without any concern. On two occasions I was unable to get back in time from work to pick up the dog, and it was never an issue. My eight month old golden retriever was not much more than a ball of fluff when we started coming, and I enjoyed that she was able to start with the smaller dogs and gradually transition to the large dog side. Now weighing 55 pounds with another 10 to 15 pounds to go, she is well socialized and plays great with anything from a 10 pound Yorkie to a Great Dane. (Not in the same sections of course.) These people interact with the animals and don't just sit around. Trust me, the stories that they tell you about what your dog did throughout the day clearly shows that they know the same goofy quirks and actions the dog does at home. You even get report cards with great pics of your dog from the previous day. To address the negative review I noticed posted today: With all due respect, you sign a waiver upon starting day care that if something happens to the dog, you may need to come and pick the dog up and HPP is not liable for vet bills. Of course in the event of a true emergency, they are going to do what is necessary to make sure your dog is okay. A deep gaping wound, a broken leg, some freak accident, etc. By the way, there is also a huge poster in the lobby stating the same about the "play at your own risk". Can't miss it. These dogs are all evaluated before being allowed to start daycare, but it is an evitable that once in a great while, something may happen. It's reality. Just because the manager shows genuine concern in wanting to hear how your dog is, that does not translate to "let us cover the tab." A confident owner hires a competent manager. Autumn is beyond competent and there was no need to get the owner involved if she's going to tell you the same thing. Lessons learned here today: read the fine print and shit happens. read more

There aren't enough words to describe how fantastic HPP is. My dog Belle, who basically thinks she rules HPP when she's there, loves HPP so much she I sometimes have to coax her to get into my car with a treat when I pick her up. It's such a nuisance, but it's SO funny. I take her about 2-3 (sometimes 4 depending on our schedules) and she is just exhausted when she comes home. They do such a fantastic job tiring them out, but in such a way that they aren't putting the dogs in danger by playing TOO much; because that's not good, either! The staff are unbeatable. Miss Autumn, Miss Jolie, Mr. Isiah, Mr. Robert (well, that's what I call them in front of my dog, to teach her respect, of course;-); they're all absolutely fantastic! I was out of town one weekend and I was boarding her, and Jolie texted me about something that she thought was wrong with Belle (wasn't serious, but at the time, who would know) and was so helpful about trying to figure out what do, and I knew she was in good hands. Turns out, it was allergies, but they know your dogs so well. They take care of them like their own dogs. And the report cards...don't even get me started! They list Belle as "Master of the Universe" once in a while and it just cracks my husband and I up! The pictures are so funny, too. I love the time they take to send those to doggie parents. We miss our dogs when we are without them, or at work, and it's such a nice treat to see your baby during the day doing something silly! I am thankful for HPP and their staff. read more

Not sure what happened to this place. We loved coming here then stopped due to covid. We were excited to come back once I returned to the office. I dropped off my dog on Friday with no issues. On Monday I get a call saying that I had to pick up my dog because he was in 2 fights. When I picked him up no one explained anything to me. They practically threw him at me and the girl rushed back, no explanation. I sent an email and no one responded. He didn't have a scratch on him and I assume if this was a true incident, there would be some kind of video or documentation, something but no one has gotten back to me. He's a 70 pound boxer pit and there were no issues before. No one wore masks (I really don't care) but I did. I walked in and the girl looked at me strange. The only thing I can think of is discrimination. I hate to use that card because we were very happy and the staff was great.... in the past. What gives? It's a shame too. I was willing to drive the extra 20 minutes out of my route to work on a daily basis just so he can play all day. I also noticed that they raised their rates for 10 days form $220 to $300. I gladly paid just so he would be happy and loved. They did us a favor I guess. Do yourself a favor too and safe yourself the shadiness and lies. read more

We recently discovered The Happy Pet Place and our dog loves it and we approve! Everyone we have met has been nice and I especially like how all employees are trained in pet CPR and have other pet certifications as well. Our large dog loves doggie daycare and we recently had him spend 3 nights here and loved getting a video seeing him play with their dogs - it gave us reassurance he was having a good time! Also, you can't beat their rates. I love how this is a true "open play" and "free roam" place, as that is what our dog is used to. Since moving up North, this is the best place we have found for our dog and his needs and our requirements. read more

I absolutely love Jolie and Isiah! They are fantastic people with hearts of gold. I've been a customer of Jolies for many many years now (since my first dog (ever) was only 2 months old). She was just so helpful then that I have followed and trusted her since (8 years later). I was super happy when she opened Happy Pet Parlor, and even more so when she opened up Happy Pet Place. Not too long after opening, I brought my 2nd dog Bella to training classes at Happy Pet Place, it gave me a great idea of how the facility looks, is treated, and all the fun stuff for the pups to play with! This made it a lot easier when I had to have a place for my dogs overnight...I knew just who to go to! Even when I asked to book an overnight I got an excited response - how often do you get that from any business? I dropped both my girls off, and the next day I heard how much they played, gave kisses, and loved playing with the ball. I was shown videos and pictures of their happy faces playing hard! I loved getting the feedback on how they were. This month they were also boarded, but this time for the longest I'd ever had them away from me before, 5 days! I think it was much harder on me being away from them so long than it was on them! The only thing that made it easier was knowing how much love, attention, socialization and exercise they were getting. And even among the doggie flu epidemic I knew my girls were safe because they share with you how they clean and everything they go through each day to keep everything clean and safe for all. Amazing company, staff, and the hardest working owners I've seen. If you want your fur babies pampered and loved I highly recommend to all Happy Pet Place (and Happy Pet Parlor if they need a spa day!). read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars. Our lab has been going there for 2 years, and all we've ever heard is how much they love him. Last week we picked up our pup from a full day of day care. Before they grabbed him from the back, the guy working told us that he needed to address an issue. He said that our dog sheds too much and it's becoming a problem. They told us that after nap time it took them 25 minutes to clean our dog's hair off of the other dogs, which is ABSURD. The worker said we were in breach of our contract if we don't get his shedding under control. We read the contract, no where does it say anything about hair or appearance at all. He then said that we should get him groomed (using their grooming service) and that he's not allowed back until we do so. He also asked if there was stress at home and what the reason is for the shedding, basically accusing us of abusing our dog. This offensive encounter was extremely rude and hurtful. We called to speak to the owner and sent an email and never heard from her. Terrible staff since they reopened from the pandemic. And they don't wear masks. I was really excited when I found out that Happy Pet Parlor was opening a doggy daycare because I love Happy Pet Parlor! I went there yesterday with my pup Rollo for his free 2 hr evaluation to check it out. It's awesome that you can check in/check out pups at any time and they have half days based on hours not times. Rollo loved it! I love that it's a thorough temperament evaluation because I know all the other dogs are friendly. The dogs get to go outside every 20 minutes and they have separate indoor and outdoor spaces for small and large dogs. The inside is so clean and has fun playhouses and cool stuff for the dogs. They use a pet safe cleaner outside daily. Each day the dogs have different games that the staff coordinate so they're exercised mentally too! The staff love dogs!! They really care about all their dogs and enjoy their job! Isaiah and Jolie had tons of videos and pictures of my pup when I picked him up. He had so much fun! They're also partnering with an experienced dog trainer who works with rescue dogs, so we signed up for classes there. read more

On Tuesday, October 3rd my dog was bitten by another dog while at Happy Pet Place. We were contacted and my husband picked him up and we took him to the vet. At the time we picked him up it was made clear that our dog did NOT instigate this. They asked us to follow up and let us know the outcome of the vet visit. He required sutures, antibiotics and a cone and is in pain. Autumn was sympathetic until I asked if they would cover the $153.88 vet bill. I was told no and I asked to please have the owner contact me to discuss. I was told in no uncertain terms that the owner would in fact NOT be contacting me and all issues are handled by Autumn. Obviously this business has little regard for the consumer if the owner cannot even be bother to contact a client. We have been regular customers since we found about HPP but will not be returning. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also sent an e-mail to the Village of Roselle. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I am REALLY upset with the condition my dog was in upon pickup and even more upset with the answers I received from management. I chose this facility to board my high energy black lab after great reviews online and a friend recommendation. When I first did the evaluation (she passed), the staff was so nice, the facility was clean, the dogs looked happy - I was excited to give my dog a vacation too. One perk of boarding here is that they upload pictures daily. We noticed a mark on her nose, thought it must have just been dirt. A day later we got a phone call saying that she was trying to look out of the cage and rubbed her nose raw. RAW. They said they were going to move her to a bedroom, up charge us, and we said fine. At the time, I was thankful they called and were taking care of it but didn't know how bad it was until we picked her up. The next days more pictures were posted: with crud all over her eyes and sores on her lips. We had no idea what was going on, but she was obviously in pain. We picked her up and I questioned what happened to her nose, eyes, and mouth. The receptionist told me she was "nervous" and that caused all of these issues. Her eyes were blood shot red, there is no way nervousness is a cause for an eye infection. They finally gave me my dog back and she was filthy! More dirty than when we come home from the dog park. We went home to give her a bath - she was lethargic, coughing. I checked my bag they gave me back, and it had 6 bags of dog food left! So it was clear she wasn't eating either. Clearly a sick dog. I made a vet appointment for the next day. The vet confirmed all my suspicions - she has an eye and mouth infection, also kennel cough. She is on 3 antibiotics, pain meds, and eye drops for the next 2 weeks. I called the facility back and asked to speak to a manager. She completely blamed my dog for being "nervous and anxious" which is why she had so many problems. She never said she was sorry, never offered to take money off my bill, or cover my vet bill. She wouldn't even let me finish speaking, she was being so defensive. They claim they don't let sick dogs in the facility and they clean it daily, but that's the only way she would get an eye infection and kennel cough! I will give you her being nervous, she may have been chewing at her cage which caused the sores on her nose and mouth. HOWEVER, my biggest issue is WHY WASN'T I NOTIFIED? Sure you called me when you wanted to charge me more, but clearly my dog wasn't doing well in this facility. You should have called, or at the very least put it in her daily report card instead of spunky treat monster. I could have called my emergency contacts and had arrangements made. Who knows how long she was sick for (of course, they couldn't tell me that). I am just so disappointed with the care my dog received, as well as the way I was treated. I will not be bringing any of my dogs back here. EVER. read more

We have been bringing our dog to Happy Pet Place for over a year and were always happy with the staff. Recently, there have been some changes with staff but we thought sometimes companies go thru things like that. Anyway, since the change things have gone down hill. We have always been respectful to the staff and on occasion had to bring things to their attention or would ask a question. Recently, we had our dog groomed (they do grooming also) after being skunked and didn't really notice a difference after the bath so my husband inquired if there was anything else they could do to get rid of the smell. They explained that they did the best they could and if he gets wet it could come back. We were satisfied. Then a few days later he took him for a 1/2 day and usually the next day we get pictures. We didn't get pictures. So the next time we took him he inquired about the pictures. The owner (Jolie) told him that sometimes it may take longer to get the pictures or sometimes you won't get any at all. And so he was a bit taken back by the answer. When he tried to say he was just curious and asked what she meant about possibly not getting pictures (which in the year he's been going we got pictures "always" the next day), the owner told him all you do is complain. So your dog is not welcome here anymore. As I previously mentioned. We never had a problem in all this time and now we ask 2 questions and our dog is not welcome there? And it seems from reading a few other recent reviews things have gone down hill since they fired all their staff and if a caring dog parent asks a question your dog is no longer welcome there. Well Ms. Jolie, as an owner you have very poor people communication skills. It's sad that it had to come to this. But in all honesty, I don't want my dog going there anymore if you can't work with customers and discuss things as caring adults. read more

Happy Pet Place was a real disappointment. When filling out the paperwork prior to the evaluation, I informed staff that my dog does not do well in a crate. When I showed up for the evaluation, it was a negative experience. My dog was nervous and within minutes of walking in the door, one rude staff member kept saying "its not going to work out" (she did not even attempt to greet my dog). I wasted time off work to travel to the location and they didn't even give my dog 5 minutes of attention. I understand they might be selective with the dogs they allow, however, my dog goes to multiple doggie daycares with no issues. I also feel they should have informed me that they wont take dogs that can't be in crates. The staff told me "we are not here to train your dog to socialize" and made me feel like I own the most messed up dog in the world. I really wish I followed the reviews of others for Happy Pet Place and will be taking my dog elsewhere. read more

They are the best ! I board my 15 year old Pomeranian here every year when I go on vacation and can rest assured that he is receiving the very highest level of care and attention. I use Happy Pet Parlor for dog grooming and was so happy when I heard that Jolie had opened doggy day care because I knew that she and all of her employees are so dedicated and truly care about their clients and pets !!! read more

HORRIBLE PLACE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! The girls grooming the pets are irresponsible, all they talk about is cosplay and never pay attention to their actual job. I wanted to take a picture of my dog and the girl grooming my dog said no pictures even though there was NO sign. They cut my dogs hair unevenly also; they paid no attention to what I wanted and suggested. They cut my dogs eyelashes off and they all in all did the shittiest job. I have taken my dog to other places and those places are five stars compared to this shit hole. I'm not much of a person to make a yelp review but in this case I am very highly disappointed. My dog absolutely LOVES this place. He gets to play with other dogs and is exhausted when he gets home. The staff is wonderful and seems very secure. The staff clearly love their jobs and the dogs that come in. Each dog has to be evaluated before even being accepted into their daycare or boarding - GREAT move on their behalf. Secures the personalities of the pets coming in. I worry about him during his stay and call. They always answer and give me an update. I think my dog would rather live there than with me - Whenever he comes to the door see's it's me, it's like "oh, it's just you" and then turns to go back into his Happy Place....Kind of hurts my feelings LOL - but I know that he is in good hands for every minute that he is there. It is clear that our pets are never left alone as the staff knows them as well as we do. So for taking exceptional care of my beloved Chumley, for giving me complete piece of mind while he is there and for wearing him out, REALLY out... I APPLAUD AND THANK YOU! read more
