Since there were two Viet coffee based drinks (One with their puff cream, or the salted cheese one I got), I had tried to ask which one the cashier recommended, and they gave the pretty helpful tip that the puff cream one was less coffee tasting and more creamy, though it was in a pretty curt and slightly rude manner. Why is it every time I come here I absolutely blank on what to order??? Shout out to the young Asian gentleman with long black hair that helped me pick a drink because I was completely clueless. I always want to try something new.. never the type of person to be a regular somewhere or have "the usual". So this place is kind of like paradise for me. Over a hundred options I could choose from. We decided to go with one sour and one sweet drink. The okinawa milk tea drink: delicious. This was the drink the young man recommended for me. If chi tea and Crème brûlée had a baby this is what it would taste like. I only did 75% of the usual sugar though. It's on the sweeter side so proceed with caution. The mango lemonade slushy: woooooowww so good and so refreshing. The alcoholic in me wished I could put a tequila shot in there and call it a marg. If I had a regular order this would probably be it. Came here because I was craving for some milk tea with boba. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there weren't too many people at the store. I got the milk tea with salted cream (A8) medium with boba thought overall it was a really good drink! I really like the salted cream on the top. I think the saltiness with the cream complements the milk tea really well. One minor comment about the lid design was that it was a little difficult to drink the milk tea using the mouth opening when I had the straw in too to eat the boba. I felt like the straw was going to hit my head when I went in to drink using the mouth opening so I had to use my hand to move the straw away when I wanted to have the salted cream. I came here back in 2018 when they first opened and was glad to see there is a happy lemon near me. I don't have to drive to Cupertino just to go to one anymore. Strangely enough the first day of their opening was my birthday. I was celebrating with friends in DTSJ and was unable to drive over. During their first day they were offering buy one get one free and even a day later they were still nice enough to offer me another drink free after I told them that I was too shook up on my birthday to drive. The staff at this happy lemon are very nice. They often greet you with a smile when serving you. Not sure if they had a change in employees but the service here is very friendly. If drinks are not your thing then you can also grab some one of of kind chips that you can only find here. I've been to more bubble tea shops in both New York and California than I can count and I can say with full confidence Happy Lemon San Jose is by far one of the best (the other best is the happy lemon in Berkeley). I've gone to this location many times when I'm in the Bay Area (worth the 45 min drive from SF) because of 1) the service and 2) the boba. Incredible service and even more incredible bubble tea -- the flavors are so balanced with just the right amount of sweetness to my liking. Not to mention, during this time of COVID, the store is very clean and employees exhibit the proper precautions needed that make me feel safe and comfortable to pick up my regular bubble tea! I checked my door step, nothing was there. I even checked my next-door neighbors and still nothing. I texted/called the dasher and she read the texts and didn't reply! So I contacted door dash customer service to complain I hadn't received my drinks 20 min later. They apologized and re ordered it for me. Almost immediately after I got of the phone a fellow person on my block came up with two empty cups apologizing that it was left on his door and they knocked it over. Good think it re ordered ha. We have been coming here since it opened. Great location and easy to get to with parking. Over the last few months the service has been mediocre at best. They rarely seem to get the order right. To make it worse even a bubble waffle that is pretty easy to make -- they provided a broken cold waffle when it should have been warm and fresh. We pay a lot to have these kind of items and when they don't come out right it is a bad look. I love the products and food when they are done right but this location lacks the ability to get the orders right. I can't imagine what it would be like on a busy day. I hope the management will see this review along with some of the other ones.
