They had soft country music playing and country decorations on the walls. Very pleasant atmosphere. I got a loaded baked potato and a grilled chicken salad. The baked orator was one of the best I've ever had. Cooked perfectly and had plenty of melted cheese and bacon bits on it. The salad was BIG. My Mom had fried steak dinner. It came with mashed potato's, plenty of gravy and a side salad. Nice size serving of meat and she ate the whole thing so I know she loved it. We got dessert too. All the desserts are home made. I got strawberry pie (tons of strawberries) and Mom had some sort of Angel food cake with a pineapple whipped cream sauce all over it. Yum. Our server was super nice and the service was good. She came and checked on us multiple times. Very pleasant lady.

This five-star review doesn't come because this side of the country isn't saddled with many replete restaurant choices. But because the food is cooked fresh and the wait isn't normally too long. Just think classic, American diner food, but cooked better. The last time, my roasted beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and beef gravy was so hearty and delicious, I ate it all. It can get quite busy sometimes so I would recommend reservations for larger groups. And every time I came here, I left with a box full of sugar cookies from the bakery to take back home to FL to enjoy. There's no better touch-of-home than a homemade sugar cookie with frosting. I can't tell you how many times that medium is what I usually get when requesting medium-rare at restaurants. There's a big difference between the two in terms of internal temperature, center color, and texture. This place knows how to properly cook a medium-rare burger, and for me, that's a sign of quality and sets it apart. The sidewinder fries are fab as are the homemade potato chips and either comes with burgers. The dressing on the coleslaw needs some seasoning, but the slaw itself is fresh and crunchy. The Maryland crab soup is pretty slammin', too. I favor the back dining room, not the bar (in front). These 2 areas have different vibes. The back room feels like the way a burger joint should be. The bar is, well, more bar-ish. One of the servers, Brody, provides exceptional service--a shout out to him. This establishment's name is playful and clearly informs the customer as to what their specialty is: hamburgers. I bought one of their T-shirts, perhaps that says it all.

I should've left and found another option altogether. We both ordered burgers (of course), his a bacon cheeseburger with fries and coleslaw, mine a patty melt on rye bread with Swiss cheese, fries and coleslaw. Both medium rare. Both came out medium well, no coleslaw, one invisible slice of cheese on each burger and white bread instead of rye on my patty melt. The grilled onions actually looked more like onion jam and the trays with black/white checkered paper this is served on looks like it's never seen a sponge or water. No, I can't recommend this place.

The burger was that good. Because I want to end on a positive, let me start with negatives: the fries were okay. Normally these are a side dish not worth mentioning but this restaurant makes them a star with a fry menu. ( I humbling suggest they try frying in beef tallow to make it a whole other fry experience). The other critical comment is my French onion soup (on take out) was really cold and we weren't late nor (but for the fries) anything else cold. To give you reference, I microwaved for 1 minute and was still cold and did another 1:30. But it was delicious. Now, why 5 stars? The burgers. My son and I both got the Lancaster burger with horseradish mayo on the side and substituting wagyu. It was heaven. It was perfection. We still think and talk about that burger and any food that makes you miss is worth 5 stars!

One of our favorite stops in State College to meet up with family. Service is quick, the staff and waitress were helpful on suggestions and keep it real with you regarding what they like/don't like. The setting with the fireplace and views of the golf course and lake are beautiful. Love this spot. If you are heading to State College, give it a go!

You order inside at the counter and then they call your name on the loud speaker when it's ready for pickup at the drive thru or the counter (depending on whether you ordered it to go or not). I had a cheeseburger with tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayo, and a side of fries. The burger was classic and totally delicious. The fries were very good, too. I ate my lunch at one of the picnic tables on the property, which was comfortable and fun (but they don't have bathrooms FYI). The service was friendly, and the place has tons of retro charm. I'd definitely go back for another meal - maybe a milkshake or other dessert with my burger next time? A fun, fast, casual meal. A charmer in Frederick, just off 70.

They do have a small parking lot and some benches around back but not ideal for colder weather. The menu is pretty extensive with many options of hot dogs, burgers and dessert. We got the Chicago dog, chili dog, patty melt and onion rings. The onion rings were the best! The breading did not fall off and stayed with each bite of the onion! Not to mention the crunch! The hot dog was also delicious! The way they dressed it was neat and you got a solid bite each time! The patty melt was juicy and the rye pairs so nicely!! The service was quick. It seemed like our small group of 6 may have overwhelmed them slightly with the amount of food we ordered but nonetheless did not take too long !
