Edible bland food. More onions than anything. Nothing near hunan or szechuan flavors.

We were in Rochester MN for 2 days. I looked at Yelp's Top Ten and noticed First Meeting Noodle…read more Right up our alley. Watching your noodles being pulled and boiled is a true treat. We ordered Sichuan Wontons in Chili Oil and Scallion Pancakes for a first course. The wonton noodle was the best I've ever been served. We had Green Beans and Curry Chicken Noodle for mains. We brought lunch ingredients to make sandwiches at our conference. Instead, we returned for more wontons and pancakes. Our companion was interested in calamari (spent ~45" too long in the fryer) and a bowl of chicken noodle soup that was too big to finish. I thought the broth was good, but I'm partial to a saltier ramen style broth. Shops with hand pulled noodles should offer small scissors. You could pull on a single noodle in your bowl like forever!

So, the 19-year-old declined to go out for the evening, which meant "Road Trip" for the old guys-…read morewell, maybe older guys. We are not over the hill yet. We had already eaten at the Kernel and Pizza Ranch, and everything that we viewed on Yelp had ratings of 1.8 or below. I found the First Meeting Noodle in Rochester, Minnesota, 38 minutes away, so yeah, road trip! When we arrived, we found hotels all around; the area looked newly built or well maintained, and parking was easy. We entered the restaurant, were quickly seated, and were given menus. I ordered soup, and my trustworthy technician ordered noodles with vegetables. We agreed that it was worth the drive, and we couldn't stop talking about the cook tossing massive noodles in the air. He was our hero for the evening, and he definitely had mad skills. The restaurant was well maintained, with clean restrooms, and they always had someone clearing and cleaning tables.

First thing to know. They only do take out business. Used to be a large sit down restaurant but…read moreowner said he can't get a steady workforce in Winona MN. He will never have eat in service. So as far as the food goes I had hot and sour soup. It was spicy but mostly broth. Not a hardy soup as you find in many Chinese restaurants. I'd pass. Also had the Kung Pao chicken. Very tasty. And portion was large enough to feed two people easily. Bill was $20. No fortune cookie and woman at the counter not welcoming. As far as Chinese restaurants are concerned Kung Pao was a quality dish.

Well, where do I begin! I'm here on business in Winona, Minnesota and it's 12- degrees! I am…read moreserious for a bowl of hot soup! Took my spouse and one child here to eat dinner. The cook was Asian, so that was kinda good! But, overheard a patron inquire about origin, and he stated Malaysia. So, I ordered wonton soup two times, combo fried noodles, beef , pork, chicken and shrimp, hot tea and 4 egg rolls. I have to say, the dining room help... she was kinda " cold". Our food came and our order of Winton soup, was a cup with three pieces wonton! Holy smokes! Guess it's a region thing! The egg rolls were actually really good, after the four, I ordered three more LOL! Noodles were good, had taste and no complaints! I was surprised! They did have Chinese hot mustard! We were the solo people in dining room for a while, then a family of four and an elderly couple sat in. My child (5yrs old) had a infatuation with a gum ball machine, centered near entrance and near this elderly couple, who was dining a few feet from us. The older gent, either didn't like little kids, or because we looked different in their hood! Either way, his rudeness was felt in the sir, we paid and we left. They probably would had gotten a better review, but the hostess, was more bothered with us dining there, then doing her job, and seeing to it that we were served accordingly. I don't plan to be in Winona again, or anytime soon! I heard that's where Winona Ryder was raised? I'd like to think, not all country folks aren't as the ones who made my visit, kind of uneasy feeling
