Went to Happy Days Ace Hardware (on Ventura Blvd and Petit, next to Jerry's Famous Deli) this morning. This was the first time I had been there Everyone was very helpful and I quickly found the two things I was looking for. There was lots of parking (although this may have been because it was a Sunday morning).

Ask the Community - Happy Days Ace Hardware

Is this store closing for good?

I think so. I just tried to go at 2pm on a Tuesday and it's all shut. Annoying!

Do you offer rescreening of a window screen?

HI Rhoda, No, we do not at this time. But we do carry screens adn the tools needed if you like to…

Sometimes I'll go to one of the more "convenient" home improvement chains, but 80% of the time after looking through aisles and aisles of cookie-cutter boxes of hardware designed for contractors I will come up empty handed and head over to Franklin's wondering why I didn't just start here. I have always, ALWAYS, found the hardware I need, no matter how obscure the screw, nut, or fitting, at Franklin. Tiny brass screws to fix an antique clock? They'll have it. "Euro" style screws that came with your cheap Ikea cabinet? They'll have it. A bushing for a kitchen appliance that is an odd size... they will have it. Additionally the folks who work here are super friendly and helpful! Another reason why anyone looking for anything a hardware store carries should start here. There is a small parking lot in the back, and metered parking on the street. They are an "Ace" hardware franchise so if you need to pick up an order from the Ace website this is a location that you can select (I've done this several times). They also do re-screening, and knife sharpening. It's truly one of the last remaining neighborhood hardware stores and I can't recommend it highly enough.

They did tell me that the engine light was on because the gas cap had an issue, but I was in a rush and just hoped for the best! I also realized once I went to use the flatbed that the ramp was missing. If I had really needed it, I would have been in a pickle! Luckily I wasn't moving anything too heavy. I got a change to peek at the other tools you can rent there and it's endless! Definitely good to know how the process works and how easy it is to get gear here. I am usually able to find what I need here, and they have a nice garden section. Patio stuff is on sale right now! I even have a video showing how empty the aisles were. It took me over 15 minutes just to find someone. The employee I finally found was named Jet. Honestly, I would have been better off not finding anyone at all. When I asked a question about a product, he laughed and told me to "just read the instructions." I explained that the answer wasn't in the instructions and that I had already searched YouTube without success. Instead of trying to help, he continued laughing and making jokes. I told him that this wasn't funny to me, that my project had come to a complete stop, and that I urgently needed to speak with someone knowledgeable. He said he was the only person working in that department that day and continued laughing. The only bright spot was the Customer Service team. The women at the Customer Service desk helped resolve my issue in less than 30 seconds. They were professional, helpful, and actually cared. The manager wasn't much help either. When I filed a complaint, he simply said he would "talk to Jet and look into it." Based on the interaction, it felt more like he was protecting a friend than taking a customer complaint seriously. Very disappointing experience.
