I came here for a haircut since I was in the area and they said they did not have a wait when I called. It looks nicer on the inside compared to the outside so don't let the nondescript sign dissuade you. The location is super clean. They take their Covid precautions very seriously and I watched them diligently wipe down and sanitize after every haircut. Thank you! Haircut was around 30 bucks - I chopped off most of my hair - no wash but she did iron it out so it was straight. Wash included in the coloring. No bleach. We picked this place after reading good reviews. We arrived in this place after 2pm and waiting for Chris. Chris finished one youth in about 10 minutes and served another client before us, saying that he will help us soon. One female dresser asked us to do the cut and i said no - waiting for Chris. Unexpectedly, another female dresser asked us in very loud voice saying there is no time, "Chris has another appointment". Chris did not indicate anything. So, I let the boy to go with her. In the beginning, we said we like to have long style. The boy had full thick long hair easy to style and cut in layered. The whole process made us uneasy. The female dresser complained his hair needs shampooed and his hair was uneven. (The boy cannot help with oily hair; he had shampooed a day ago before going to the shop, and he confirmed this matter a few times to me.) I questioned the female dresser whether Chris has really another appointment (at about 3:30pm), she replied to me that Chris has another appointment At Home later. Before dry blowing, I requested the left side hair to be trimmed or more layers. She talked a lot with her reasons why it was not layered, and she seemed to be reluctant to do it. Another female dresser showed a gesture how to do it, and she did it. (I gave one star for other dressers who were willing to help.) What made me feel being cheated was that Chris did not have appointment after he finished the client before us. Chris did some cleaning work for floor and counter after he finished that client. Other than the uncomfortable process, If the hair cut outcome were good, i could have given it more stars; however, the outcome is not what we like. I kept getting told whether I straighten my hair and why don't I and I should color my hair when clearly I don't, several times. How old I am and whether I'm married. Won't be going back here. I saw this salon nearby on Yelp and was feeling bored with my long, black hair (probably belly button length and lookin' a little dry), so I called in and made a same day appointment 4 hours later for a haircut and color. The ladies here were very nice, skillful, and knowledgeable! I told them originally that I wanted to dye my hair all over with a medium chocolate brown color and I wanted my hair cut in layers. They recommended I get highlights instead so that it will look better when it grows out, and recommended how short I should cut my layers so that it would look good. I said ok sure, let's do it. I told them that I prefer the highlights be more red-brown than gold, & then I blindly put my trust in them. The result was amazing! They did a fantastic job, highlight + cut for $150. They are super skillful with their hair cutting and the highlight. She went super speed on my highlights. The process took about 2 hours. They also curled my hair afterwards. It is that time of the year and I'm glad I came in for my cut and highlights! During this pandemic, lots of ppl are contemplating whether a place is safe or not especially salons and nail places, where your hairstylist would be in close contact with you. As a healthcare provider myself, I'm super crazy about infection control and anal about hand sanitizing my hands every mins!!! This place is doing their best to be safe, checks in with name and # in case they need it for contact tracings, call in for appointments, sanitizers everywhere. The salon itself is very spacious and so it's easy for everyone to get their cuts and still social distance, and plus the door is kept open the whole time for fresh air to circulate in. And I believe when I was there for 2.5 hours, I see each and everyone of them washing their hands constantly, sweeping away, and wearing a mask at all times. Because I felt pretty safe there, I brought my 68 yo mom in for a cut (less than 30 mins, in and out, quick and easy). Then returned the second time with my sis for highlights and cut. As a new mom of 2 toddlers, let's just say it's been awhile...so it was a nice treat for great hair and service! Our color turns out amazing, beyond words! I've been going to the same salon in Alameda for 10 years and never trusted anyone else with my hair UNTIL TODAY with Auntie Kim! I'm so unhappy with the haircut I got from Ms. Kim that I must write this review. I have thick south Asian hair and she definitely did not know how to cut my hair. I came in asking for her to just cut two inches, add some layers and frame my face. For starters she didn't show me what two inches was and ended up cutting about 3-4 inches and just have thinned it out everywhere because all my thickness is gone especially at the bottom. I never even asked her to thin it she just did it all on her own. None of the layers are of the same length they are all just random. When she framed my face she did it free hand with scissors?! Regular scissors and not like sheering ones. My front face hair are different lengths! And now it's already so short I don't even want to go anywhere else to fix it since it will just g wet shorter. I even checked images on here and reviews so I guess maybe all the good photos are of Linda and she's the only one that can do hair who knows. My first and last time coming here. read more

I was somewhat reluctant to go to a new place, but I needed to a haircut badly and could not wait any longer. Price seemed great for a trim to get my split ends gone. After my great haircut, I missed having some highlights as usual. I was lucky again that Linda had some time to color my hair. She mentioned that she did not use bleach, which intrigued me. However, I wasn't told over the phone that my appointment was only 30-minute long. I had never had 30-min women's haircuts before and wasn't aware of it till the next customer arrived. Since he came 10 minutes earlier, my hair stylist pretty much rushed all the way through to get my haircut done so that they could move on to the next customer. My hair is short but it requires meticulous cut for a layered look. Apparently 30 minutes of cut in a rush left me very upset with the result. Also, it didn't allow time for communication with the hair stylist so I had to find another hair salon to restore my hair. I felt that my money was wasted besides being unhappy about the cut.
