Good: clean restroom, dishes, silverware, lobby & dining area, attentive bus boy, fun photo opp with adult sized lobster, sink conveniently located in beverage bar area. Bad: debris & weeds in parking lot, very expensive for what was being served, dry cake pieces on dessert bar, boring front desk workers, dining room tv robbed families of spending quality time together which destroyed the potential for a better overall experience/environment. Overall: first impressions were disappointing, which carried through the rest of the meal. The food was average, nothing special. Now I know what that buffet is like & will not plan to return. read more

Recently they revamp the place and converted to a buffet style restaurant. It's fairly new so they didn't have all the labels for the food choices and kept running out of snow crab. We went on a Sunday it was $39.99 pp. Wasn't worth the price. However, it's generating lots of foot traffic. So be humble as they figure out the kinks. One recommendation is to have bowls instead of just plates to create a boil experience. Limited staff but they are good at making you feel welcome and provide good service. read more

The seafood at Happy Crab was "ok", but definitely not close to the best crab boil I've had. Everything was edible and decent, just nothing that really stood out flavor-wise. The atmosphere was fine as well, nothing special but not uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the worst part of the experience was right when I walked in. I was informed that there's a 20% service charge for dining in, plus an additional 3% fee for paying with a card, which felt excessive. The waitress herself was very nice and did a good job, so no complaints there. Still, paying almost $200 for a "decent" crab boil after all the extra charges is hard to justify, especially for most folks in the economy that we're now surviving in. If the food were outstanding, it might feel different but as it stands, the value just isn't there for me. I'll give Happy Crab 3 Stars read more

The good, they were not hesitant to bring out the food (snow crab legs, the stir fried lobster or the Dungeness crab). The bad, the crab and lobster was either over cook, bleached to kill bacteria, or very bad quality that the meat was mussy. Almost so much, you didn't recognize it. Only the snow crab legs were half decent. Everyone goes for the seafood so the other items are sparse or stale from sitting at the steam table too long. The sushi was ok but they were pretty much California rolls with fish and sauce in it. You will be excited when you first walk in and know you made a bad decision when you walk out. read more

This was such a nice surprise. We were around and looking for something to try. We got stocked because train stopped so we had to go all the way so we could cross. We made it at the end :) Easy to park as yhe have their own lot. Pretty big space. I don't know if it was early but it was just a couple of tables. Staff was helpful and friendly. They took our order and came back fast. It liked that they add more flavour and spices to the combo than in other places in Seattle. It was a nice difference. Their clam chowder was pretty good too. I wouldn't have guess this would be such a nice visit. I will definitely try them again :) little ones liked their lobsters dolls at the entrance. read more

This is the second time we've been here, the first was during their soft opening so we gave them a pass. However, they've been open for a number of months and quite frankly it simply is not worth the money. We were seated immediately and brought waters. The gentleman came back to get our drink order and then asked if we were ready to order. We were not so he left and literally never came back. Finally one of the other servers came and asked if everything was ok and she took our order. We ordered one of the combos which came with shrimp, a piece of lobster, snow crab, sausage, very overdone corn on the cob and a couple of potatoes. The sauce was supposed to be garlic butter, didn't taste like that. In the middle of the seafood was a huge piece of what they said was house made noodle. Which would have been find but it was this enormous piece that needed to be cut in order to eat it and the only eating utensil was a plastic fork. When you pay that much you should get real silver ware. We also ordered a sweet and sour cucumber salad which was good and asked for a side of garlic bread which was soggy in the middle and didn't taste much like garlic. They do give you bibs, which I advise you to use, and a towel to wipe the grease at the end. However, the food just wasn't all that great and we figure two times was all we were going to give them. read more

I was ok to wait a bit since newly opened, but it was a very disappointing experience. So we got 2 All you can eat Crab but there were more empty plates than food. The food came out too slow and if any crab did come out, people were waiting for it and cleaned it out in a few minutes. Soda machines were not working, Ice Cream Machine was broken and the juice machines had concentrate in it and it was way to sweet for me to drink. All in all, a strong pass for returning! read more

I am so glad this restaurant has opened!!! We now have a place to get crawfish in Auburn!! Ok, with that being said, everything was just ok. The service was quick and efficient with their hand held ordering device and a little robot that follows the servers around delivering food and drinks. Restaurant was very clean. Food was reasonably priced. They charge for an extra side of sauce ($12 for an 8oz container). The timeliness of our food coming out to our table was horrendously long. We ordered 2 fry baskets (chicken tender and chicken nuggets) and 1lb of crawfish. It took over 45 minutes. At least everything came out hot. We might consider coming back just for convenience. read more

We went here last night and was very disappointed. Soda machine didn't have any ice, some of the flavors came out just water . They did have some flavors of juice , I tried the mango but it was way too sweet like they didn't out enough water in the mixture. Many of the hot items were not replaced when needed. No cups for soup or drawn butter. I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and it was a total mess, there were paper towels all over the floor, I did mention this to the cashier. Next time I would go to Feast in Renton or Harvest in Tacoma as they both continue to refill the food and have a much better selection of items . read more

I feel like I've been robbed of $200+. I took my friend here for her birthday because we had seen a lot of social media posts about how great it was, and we both love seafood boils. We came on a Sunday night with our partners and it wasn't very busy, but it still took quite a while to get seated. Overall, the food was pretty mid. The selection felt pretty limited. The seafood boil section wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. A lot of the other dishes tasted bland or like they had been sitting out for a while. Surprisingly, the best thing I had was the hot and sour soup. At about $50 per person, it just didn't feel worth the price. You're honestly better off going to Feast Buffet in Renton. It's disappointing because I really wanted to like this place and hoped it would be a great birthday dinner for my friend. The space is large with plenty of seating, but the atmosphere felt more like a cafeteria. It could definitely use more decor to make it feel warmer and more welcoming. That said, the staff were very nice, attentive, and helpful after we were seated. I don't think I will come back though. read more

Very disappointed in the quality of the seafood at the Auburn, WA location. The seafood was not cooked with any seasonings at all, everything appears to have been boiled in plain water eariler , then left out to get cold! I've had more flavorful hospital meals! There were plenty of seasoned butters to dip with, but with the seafood was not seasoned! The side dish's were lukewarm (no steaming trays) at best and looked like they were left out from lunch time! No fresh food was replaced during my entire 90 minutes I was there from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. I didn't feel like the $88.00 I payed for two was worth the value. I would not waste my time eating there again. Update after the owners response 2 hours later: I did see the other side with the prepared food that looked like it was out since lunch time and it was not fresh or hot! I will not return, you didn't offer a discount or anything to make up for the poor quality. I don't accept the excuse of blaming the new cook for your issues. Isn't there a process in place by management for the employees to follow...business 101. You throw your employees under the bus, instead of taking ownership of the issues. read more

Came here for dinner with some friends. Clean place with friendly staff. I ordered Cajun Fries and a pound of green mussels in the House Sauce - Mala at extra hot spice level, and added the Fresh Hand-Pulled Noodles. Their Cajun Fries tasted just like the frozen bag of curly fries you get at the grocery store. Didn't have any cajun flavor. I would have liked it if it was hot, if not, at least warm. Our food all came at different times. Some food came out hot, some warm, and some neither. My mussels in the House Sauce was decent, but it wasn't spicy for being extra hot. And I liked the hand-pulled noodles in it. I felt like they did give a good amount of potatoes and sausages, if you like those little sides. read more

I had high hopes for Happy Crab after seeing a Facebook post about it. I went last Friday, May 15th , there were only 3 other customers dinning and at first I thought it's 5:45 on a Friday and where are the customers? $50 that I feel was a waste for what they offered. All the Asian dishes had been in the warmer much too long. The hot crab was waterlogged and no crab flavor, hot prawns were ok but had been sitting so long it was difficult to remove the shells, the cold prawns weren't cooked in the center and mentioned it to the table clearer but nothing was done. I did end up eating the watermelon and strawberries which were great. I felt that it should have been called the Sad Crab, I won't be going back. read more

I came to lunch at Happy Crab yesterday. This location was where the legendary Sun Break Cafe was. It was about $22.00 for lunch. The first thing I was told when I walked in was there no seafood on lunch buffet. I felt like turning around and leaving but I stayed. The lunch buffet was pretty average if not below. There are certainly other Asian Buffets around that are better. I was given a list of 4 or 5 things on the dinner buffet - snow crab crayfish. The price for dinner on somedays was more than double what lunch was. There isn't enough there to get me back. I wish them luck. read more

Establishment clean, roomy, and has a nice big screen tv .Wait wasn't long at all and our server was very nice. I was digging the Hawaiian jams adding to the coastal look of the interior. We ordered Calimari, gumbo, the basic combo w/ cajun seasoning. Gumbo had an assortment of seafood. A pretty big bowl. I wonder what the jambalaya is like...its only $10. The basic combo was filled w/ mussels, shrimp, sausage, corn and potato. Menu says it feeds 1 but I think it can feed two. Good price for the amount you get. I would say the cajun sauce is good but Im still a fan of Captain Crab. I feel like the flavors are not infused into to the shrimp. Overall I would come back here again. read more

I asked my boyfriend to bring me here for a late Valentine's Day dinner as we wanted to avoid the crowds on Valentine's Day. We remembered that parking here can be real tight but luckily there were a few spots in the late afternoon. We entered and we were greeted then taken to our seat. We love the renovations to the place as we have been to this location before it changed into Happy Crab. It felt much more intimate and the lighting was nice. We didn't get to see the robot server going around but they were testing it probably for the dinner service. Our waitress greeted us and took our order which was a Clam Chowder, Feeling Right combo with additional scallops in mala sauce (Go to Hell spice), Assorted Seafood Fried Wild Rice, Jambalaya, and Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake. We received our clam chowder quickly and I love that it came with bacon on top. However, I was severely disappointed that the clam chowder was just Iver's. I know this for sure as I literally had Iver's Clam Chowder earlier in the same day so I know the taste although they are crafty for hiding the test slightly with the bacon. Now I ordered the jambalaya after we ordered our initial order so we received the fried rice first then after several minutes we received the jambalaya. Now, I know another table which was a pretty big group (more than 5 people) also ordered seafood boils as I kept seeing them pass by. I'm glad I added the jambalaya as my boyfriend finished his meal and my seafood boil was still not coming out. Once I did receive my seafood boil, the spice level was not really spicy and I didn't get the mala numbing feeling so that was also very disappointing especially with how long I waited as I was really hungry and looking forward to my meal. However, I do love the hand pulled noodles and the seafood was cooked to perfection! I would just be sure to know that if you don't order seafood boils then you will receive your food much more quickly than seafood boil orders. So if your table is ordering separate items, just be know you won't be able to eat at the same time. Additionally, I'm also conflicted on the service as our server seemed very disinterested in helping us, didn't come by as often as the other server and she also sighed in front of us when we put in our order for dessert. However, the other server stopped by to give me a togo bag and takeout container and she was so much sweeter and helpful as she even packed up my leftovers for me. read more

I ordered a shrimp boil house boil to go with shrimp potato and corn. It's definitely good seafood boil, I'd comeback and order again. With that said it wasnt the best I've had before. Could use a more flavorful sauce as well as a different type of sausage or just thicker sliced. So 4 stars for me. Still would recommend tho. They do include a cute bag that keeps the food hot on the way home. read more

Ambiance is open and tables seem too narrow for booth seat spacing. Tables are not logically placed to optimize space. Service is a little slow, but not terrible. They have one delivery robot. Food. I had a very disappointing experience at Happy Crab. Tonight, I came to eat with a group of 6 people and paid $49.99 per person for the weekend buffet. We arrived at 8:00 PM, but there was already very little food left. When I asked the staff if more food would be brought out, they told me no, because the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. However, Google shows that the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM. If the kitchen was no longer preparing food and the buffet was basically over, the staff should have informed us before seating us, instead of still accepting customers and charging full price. Paying full buffet price while not being able to enjoy the full buffet is unfair and misleading. This experience felt very disappointing and not worth the money. I do not recommend coming here late in the evening. read more

Couldn't be more disappointed, $100 + later and no crab even came out, 50 min in we asked to upgrade for king crab for an additional $30, one leg came out, what a joke. The food was fine not great. The crawfish tasted slightly off and I couldn't really figure out why. However the weird thing was that I went there for lunch and got the cheaper lunch price, but then when they brought more food out after their lunch time was over they told me I couldn't get more food because it was dinner food without warning? It was super strange and awkward. Like it was clearly better food but when I eat at a buffet the expectation is I can eat what they put out until I am full? It was just so uncomfortable and weird. That is not a good way to transition that especially if you are switching out the food in the area I was just getting food? There was no warning like you can eat until 3:30 and then lunch is over. Nothing like that so I was just uncomfortable then left. Not a good way to do business. The food was also kinda cold so that wasn't ideal either. read more

Cute place. Very clean. Nice music. Unfortunately they didn't have clam chowder ready 1.5 hours after they opened and our food had cold spots. Saw a lot of hype around this place on social media and decided to check it out. First thing we noticed was that the food is not served hot, everything was luke warm or cold and there was even a sign saying they were under review for food hygiene. The selection was also limited with most of the non-seafood options tasting like frozen reheated appetizers. Seafood is boiled without seasoning and you add the sauce yourself, although the sauces were quite good. Service was acceptable, servers kept the tables clean but everything else is self service. Overall, definitely will not be coming back. Save your money and go to a traditional non-AYCE seafood boil restaurant with better quality. read more

Wow, I'm actually blown away. I've been going to different crab boil places around the area for years and Happy Crab was the best by far. I ordered the "Basics" combo with the House special-Mala flavor and medium spice level. It was absolutely incredible! The Mala flavor is insanely good, it's Sichuanese Peppercorn based with the perfect amount of tongue tingliness without overpowering your mouth. I took home leftovers and can't wait to add it on everything I eat. My friend made her own combo with Dungeness crab in Cajun seasoning, the portion was incredibly generous for the price and the crab was fresh and delicious. I liked her Cajun seasoning, but it didn't compare to the Mala. The spice level on both was a perfect medium, and all the seafood tasted very fresh. Service was attentive and the place was spacious and clean. There's a parking lot making it easy to access and the prices are actually lower than anywhere else I've been. Lastly, even the to go bags are thoughtful! They're cute, reusable and even insulated.
