Banh mi garlic shrimp and house egg roll
Megan P.

This place is so underrated. I didn't even know the old liquor store closed, but I'm glad they do because this will probably be my new go to spot of boba and banh mi. I got the ube milk tea boba and the strawberry matcha latte and wow these were better than some regular boba shops !! And they're cheaper! We got the two drinks and garlic shrimp, egg rolls and combination banh mi. Everything was very fresh and tasted home made. Staff is so friendly they make you feel like family and I really hope they do well. When we went the place was completely empty and I don't understand why. Maybe they need to better advertise but honestly are so good. Must try!

I'm addicted! I swear I'm not being paid by them, I just really love this place. They've revamped their counter since last time I visited and it's a lot nicer having more space for a line to form and not block the door. The owner's son was so proud to tell me that he helped his dad to build this new "heavy" countertop. Such a sweet family, always so happy to be of service. Got 2 different Bahn Mi, Spring Rolls, and a Matcha Latte for only $34!!! The food and drinks are always SO ONO, and the owner even told us they're coming out with new dishes like stir-fried noodles soon. I'll probably be back here to report on their new dishes soon!

BBQ Pork Sandwich, Salted Coffee, Haupia Boba

Such a hidden gem in wahiawa!! Have been there a dozen times now and it's always delicious and consistent. My current favorite is the Salted Coffee & BBQ Pork Sandwich. They offer a sandwich and drink combo for only $14! Unheard of these days, especially for the quality and freshness that Happy Chef offers. Owners are a young friendly couple that go above and beyond to ensure their customers are satisfied. Highly recommended!!

I have been wanting to come here for a while and I am so glad get a chance to come today! They serve vietnamese food, pho, sandwich, summer rolls and drinks, even ice cream! They even have a section selling frozen seafoods and dried foods as well. Spoke to the owner and she says there will be more foods items coming within the next couple weeks. Get to tries their beef noodle soup today, is so tasty and the portion is huge, get to take home some cause I can't finish all by myself , definitely come back to try more!

This family business is trying to do anything crazy. They stick to what they know they do well--and that's making these local comfort foods--saimin, teri & bbq burgers (and other local platter that I also still need to try). First of all, who knew that burger and saimin combo went together so well?! My burger was great. You could tell it's not just some frozen patty, it legit tastes like a homemade burger. It doesn't look like anything life changing but my does it hittttt. However, I wish I got the bbq burger bc I thought it be a pastey sauce but it's subtle and they make that bbq sauce!! I'm assuming it's the same with the Teri burger. The workers are very hardworking and welcoming. And the place is def cozy. They do the best with what they have. The chairs are probably 40/50 years old but they're still hanging. Like, this is your typical hole in the wall, you get what you get, and you know it's legit. There is a door that says take out so you open that door and they come and help you when you open it. There is another door for dining in. The man came, asked me for my name and had the order correct on his device. We waited a couple of minutes and he brought our hamburger steak plate, 5 burgers, fried udon, fried saimin, and saimin. They separated the soup and the noodles and that costs $.50. Our order totaled $94. I was kinda taken aback by the total but I guess it's the price nowadays. $94 fed 6 people. The order was correct, which isn't always guaranteed nowadays! Props to them! My family enjoyed the burgers. The hamburger steak plate could've used more gravy. The fried udon was good, but the fried saimin was way too salty. Maybe it was an off night for fried saimin.

Equally flavorful, black pepper forward jap chae. Solid banchan with only mildly fermented kim chee. Super cute, friendly service from the moms. Go and you'll understand. Lots of free street parking. The intuitive young man even asked if I'd still like the green onion and furikake. To clarify, without the sauce, the chicken pieces are lightly seasoned or perhaps not seasoned at all. Just how we need our sodium level to be. The oil they use is super clean, so the chicken tasted delicious. Clean oil is a trademark of excellence. The only caveat about the chicken in our portion was that it wasn't mounded as high as in the photos. Maybe it's an optical illusion? Also, our portion was breast meat which made for a mildly dry and dense texture. As for the sauce, to us, it was too gingery more than it was salty as this was the predominant flavor which explains why some reviews mention the absence of garlic flavor. Other reviews mention sogginess, so before driving 5 minutes home, I popped open the take-out lid for ventilation and it arrived fresh, crunchy and still warm. SERVICE: The kind young man working the front is beyond excellent! The efficient kitchen staff work really fast. My plate was ready in about maybe 10 minutes...no more than 15. ATMOSPHERE: Because the square footage is small with only two tables and little room for waiting, they'll give you a buzzer for when your food is ready. The restaurant is well kept and clean which demonstrates their commitment to quality and care. PARKING: There's small lot out front which can feel cramped, but stalls turn over pretty quickly. OVERALL: If we go off diet again, this definitely would be a good spot we'd return to for a high quality plate lunch.

I sat down on one of the 9 tables and looked over the menu and bam my eyes became fixated on the beef curry combo. I thought the beef was going to be thinly sliced but to my surprise it was chunks of tender beef. The curry was on the sweeter side which I actually prefer so it was a 10 out of 10 for me. The Ramen noodles has a nice chew to it. The slice of pork was on the thicker side but it tasted a little salty which may have affected the broth as it was neither a hit or miss but right in the middle. Needless to say I ate all the noodles and left most of the broth. I woild give it 7 out of 10. The pan fried gyoza was good. The wrapping had a nice texture and chew stuffed with pork, onion, chives ginger and something else but it tasted good. 9 out of 10. Service was really good. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was given a menu and water. Never had to ask for a refill on water. 10 out of 10 for service. 4 stars for Mililani Restaurant!…read more The food was cooked really well, but everything needed salt, so the flavors never got to shine the way they could have. Which is honestly a bummer because if they had seasoned Bill's Fish & Chips... dude... it would've easily been the best we've ever had! The other day, my family stopped by Mililani Restaurant after my son recommend the fish & chips. Since I'm a sucker for variety - and I hadn't eaten here in about 20 years - I also ordered the Mini Fried Saimin and Mini Korean Chicken. I love seeing each restaurant's take on these local favorites. Bill's Fish & Chips: WOW. The full order is HUGE! You get three giant pieces of cod over a mountain of shoestring fries. The fish was cooked beautifully - super crispy on the outside while staying moist and flaky inside. But oh Lord... it needed salt! The fries had a great crisp too, although they did have that darker, old-oil flavor that was a little hard to ignore. Since I'm a foodie who likes to come prepared, I happened to have lemon wedges with me lol!... and man, did that take the fish to another level. Hey, don't judge! (I'm pretty sure my family was embarrassed... but ask me if I care. Hahaha! Jk... kinda.) We all agreed that if they had simply salted the fish right out of the fryer, this would've easily been a 5 star dish. Mini Fried Saimin: Can we talk about that portion size for a mini?! Super generous! Unfortunately, this one also needed more seasoning, and the oil flavor came thru more than the other ingredients. I know it's fried, so some oil flavor is expected, but it kinda overpowered everything else. A little more shoyu would've gone a long way. Since fried saimin is usually one of my favorite things to order (local girl at heart!), I'd give this one about 3 stars. Mini Korean Chicken: The sauce was delicious and reminded me of Sugoi's Garlic Chicken. The only downside was that the chicken itself wasn't hot. It tasted like it may have been cooked earlier and then portioned out for my plate. The service was friendly, helpful with recommendations, and they packed everything securely. Our order was accurate, and the prices felt fair for the amount of food you get. They definitely have a great variety for a neighborhood plate lunch spot. Would we make the drive all the way from Ewa Beach just for this? Probably not. But if we're already in the area, we'd absolutely stop by again. One last heads up... if you're planning to dine in, be prepared to leave smelling like the fryer. The ventilation could definitely use some help.. we all went straight to the shower when we got home!
