We booked an RV spot for the weekend. The spot they gave us was so tiny our rig barely fit. There was no fire ring or picnic table. The neighbors fire ring was about two feet from our RV. The end of our RV was literally hanging over the edge of a cliff. We spent one night and left early. Everything about it felt unsafe, including staff screaming at people in cars. read more

Stayed here with my kids for 4 days in the Fawn cabin. It was delightful! The cabin was huge, clean, and well furnished. We had a great view of wildlife - we saw a bear, a deer, and a fox, all from our porch! They do have WiFi, but the Fawn Cabin is in a quiet corner of the property a bit too far away from the routers, so you have to walk down to the "Internet Cafe" (set of benches near the office and playground) to access the internet. It was nice to have a break from the outside world! One afternoon I went to get something out of the freezer and realized everything had melted - the freezer was broken! We popped down to the office to let them know as we were on our way out, and by the time we got back there was already a replacement fridge in place with all our food nicely placed inside! This place is the best. The owners and everyone who works here are so sweet and caring! The views are beautiful. The area is so peaceful. I can't wait to go back! read more

My husband was so excited to book a room at the Pine Creek Hotel. I absolutely love Waterville and the pine creek valley and he believed it would be a perfect way for me to spend Mother's Day. Can we start by saying NOTHING about this was hotel like. No front desk, no one even in the building to help if an issue arises. The smell was an interesting touch. The dark halls and low lights were very haunted house like and fun. I was ready to leave and we didn't even get to the room yet. The plastic pillows were completely flat. The noise from the pillows and plastic bedding were lovely all night long. Now see, here's where a friendly face would have been great. I would have loved to ask for extra pillows or at least some that didn't make noise. Maybe find out how to turn on more lights in the hall so I wasn't scared of being attacked. Or find out if ANYTHING else was available for us. ANYTHING! Because sleeping on the couch in the living area would have been more comfortable. I can't believe my husband paid to stay here. We have traveled the world with the military and stayed in some very sketchy places. I'm always up for an adventure. But this.. this was beyond that. This was anxiety provoking on a weekend that was supposed to be a fun surprise. Instead, my husband was embarrassed and extremely apologetic for ruining Mother's Day. When he realized his mistake and looked at your outrageous cancellation policy, he knew there was NO way you would rebook this room and we were in a lose lose situation. No where to go, no openings anywhere and completely stuck in a very bad situation. read more

The employees gripe to guests about other employees The water pressure is never ok Tree cutting seems less than safe. You pay for showers whether or not they work. It's ok to chase bears at this campground It's ok to feed the bears at this campground It's also ok to shoot bears after encouraging engagement at this campground. It's ok to be stupid drunk at this campground The electrical is a maybe. The person who plays with it out there... probably not qualified. The WiFi is a joke. If something is broken and it costs more than a minimum wage employee to repair it with whatever is lying around .... it stays broken. The trash they just throw in to beautiful woods is part of the scenery on a trail they boast about. If your going for the location - this is the place, just know partying is tolerated so star gazing or even hearing a cricket will be impossible. Happy Acres Resort Campgrounds - Campgrounds Near Me - Cummings, Pennsylvania

We stayed at endless weekends, the cabin is cute and there is a kid cabin as well which is great.. but you walk in and sit down, the springs on the couch gave out about 10 years ago, there was 1 nice recliner where you'll want to sleep because the beds also should be replaced. The floor in the bathroom is spongy and the toilet was leaking.. come to find out they were aware of both and just waiting to end of season to fix. The floors were so dirty my 10 mo old had black knees and hands, and was also trying to eat the grout that was flaking off the floor inside the door, which they then did cover with a rug. The employees were friendly and did send help when asked, but this place is in no way worth $250 a night. read more

We stayed in the Dun' Rov'n cabin at Happy Acres Resort for the weekend. The cabin had 5 bedrooms and 1 full bath as well as a nice front porch, campfire site, and full kitchen. The cabin was nice and clean when we arrived, however I do feel it could use some serious updating! The kitchen appliances were so old they posed a fire hazard, and their were magazines on our table from the year 2000! I do realize that it is camping, but a bit of updating is never a bad thing. There was a television, but it would have been nice to have a VCR or DVD player to put movies on for the kids. Also, the beds were horrible! I sat down on my daughter's bed to give her a kiss goodnight and the whole leg of the bed folded up under us!! We did have a chance to order food from the restaurant which was pretty good, and you must have the Perry's ice cream. It was delicious! All and all, it was a nice weekend with the kids away from home. If you are expecting an enjoyable camping experience, Happy Acres delivers just that with no frills :) read more

So my family and I just got back from spending a 3 day weekend at this resort I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and just enjoy nature. The cabins are clean and have everything you need , bed mattresses could be updated i can sleep on a rock but my family said they were not comfortable. We stayed at the hilltop and found it to be overall very good for what we needed. The pool was always empty we didn't really feel any of the other guests we almost felt like the whole resort was just for us. There isnt much to do on the resort there is a state park next to it where you can bath in a lil beach area I only saw about 3 people there dont know why everything seemed so underpopulated but coming from NYC we were fine with that. The biggest con I found is the fact that although they say theres wifi I didnt get any connection during all my stay. =( otherwise I may have even stayed longer but because of work I needed to be in comunication. read more

My husband and I went camping here last month and had a nice experience. We were there Tuesday-Friday, so the campground wasn't packed, but there will still plenty of people around, and yet it felt very peaceful. When I called to make the reservation a day or two before, I asked if they had a "couples-only" area, and the woman said that they didn't but would place us in an area that didn't have any other campers, so that was great. When we showed up we ended up moving a couple sites down to have more shade, and the office was fine with it. If you check out their map on their website, we were placed in the camping circle next to the chapel on Acorn Drive. It's a clearing so there's no privacy between each of those campsites, but there is some from the road and nearby cabins. Since it was just us that was fine, and it was shady on one side (hence the move). We drive through the camp area on Pine ridge drive and Acorn Drive( behind Owl's Nest), and those sites had a little more privacy and plenty of shade. Boone Run Road is the main entrance, and those campsites were shady but very open and I would imagine a little noisy with any cars coming in. The grounds were well-maintained, and the noise curfew seemed to work (plenty of kids around but I slept well!). My only complaints would be that there weren't recycling containers around, and that the showers had you pay across the room and just guess as to how long you'd take - I've used pay showers before that you can just keep feeding the machine as needed because it's in the stall with you. The campground said that they have a Verizon tower but with AT&T we didn't get any service until 20 minutes down the road (which was fine by me!). they do have an internet cafe though in case you need access. The office and general store has just about anything you'd forget to bring, including ice cream, but you can find firewood for sale along the roads for cheaper and without the plastic wrap. Other local information: * There's very little in vegetarian dining options nearby, and actually the best food we had was at the Happy Acres Restaurant (great local beer selection!) * Little Pine state park is about a 10 minute drive up the road, with a swimming hole and kayak rentals. Lake Shore Trail was a nice easy flat trail with gorgeous views, eagle spotting, and creek access. We swung through their campground and were happy were were at Happy Acres, mostly RVs at the park. * Golden Eagle trail is about a 30 minute drive from happy acres: beautiful views, more eagle spotting, and a nice shady forest hike. We did not see another person during the whole 5.5 hour hike, nice and deserted, and the parking lot is also a canoe launch so very nice to cool off tired feet :) * The bike trail is not paved! Our road bikes went unused, but it was nice for flat walks along the beautiful river, bring mountain/cruiser bikes if you'd like to use it * Wellsboro is a quaint little town about 45 minutes north with antique and other small shops, and the Wellsboro Diner which was great and super friendly. A nice break from hiking all day. * Apparently to buy a six-pack of beer you just get it from any local bar, we didn't see any liquor stores around (Happy Acres allows drinking in moderation). read more

Definitely a true mountain experience! It is located right on a mountain and the views are just breathtaking!! There is no cell service in this town, the campground did create Verizon service but this was not helpful for us because we have ATT service. They advertise they have cable but in reality only have 4 channels (better than nothing though). My husband and I only stayed here for 3 days. It was nice to disconnect from our devices, although, we work from our RV so we rely on wifi. They did have wifi but it was very very limited and didn't always work. I think they turn it off and on at certain times. We had to go into town called Jersey Shore in order to get service. We are currently traveling the country and do a quick review and video on the campgrounds we stay at. You tube channel is Corporate To Cross Country. read more

We just came home today from Happy Acres. We had a nice relaxing time. The first night we ate a wonderful meal at the restaurant. We stopped at the beautifully stocked store to pick up a few things we forgot. They had all we needed and more. The food was great and the service. Next day we headed to fish at little Pine Lake we caught 17 fish between 3 of us. Great fishing. Had a campfire and good meal. Our cabin was very clean with great direct TV. We can't wait to go back again. Wish we could have stayed longer. read more

This may sound hard to believe, but I just spent a great weekend at Happy Acres after an absence of close to 28 years! The last time I was there, nearby campers stayed up all night, drinking and partying which made for a terrible experience. That was also my last experience with tent camping. However, to be fair, up until that one time, we always rented a cabin and it was always a fun and peaceful week. Even trekking up the hill to shower was fun since there was no hot water in the cabins back then. My grown children now take their children there, once a year, and they can't say enough nice things about the current owners and the overall condition of the campgrounds and all the improvements with cabins, etc. On 9/15-9/17, my wife and I rented the Bluebird cabin. It's actually a mobile home but is about the same size as nearby wood cabins. The cabin was spotless and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place. We also took Max, our Weimaraner, with us. It was his very first time away, too, and he loved every second. He discovered millions of new smells which he still dreams about at night! I honestly can't say enough nice things about this campground. There's quite an extensive beer selection down at the restaurant which I took advantage of. We didn't eat there since we had our dog with us. I didn't want to leave him alone in the cabin since he wasn't yet familiar with his surroundings. In years past, we enjoyed their food, a lot, and it's very crowded there to this day on weekends. I was amazed when I discovered there was a rails-to-trails trailhead right in Waterville! The next time I visit, I'll definitely have a bike with me. If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic, family-oriented getaway, I highly recommend this place. read more

I decided to book two nights, June 13-15 with my family. The fan consists of me, a 61 year old chubby lady, my 38 year old nephew and his lovely wife, and their 4 children--3 boys ages 7, 9, and 10, and the requisite sullen 16 year old girl with a phone permanently attached to her. After much consideration and a discussion with Lenora (Happy Acres employee extraordinaire), we selected the Rainbow Cottage, which is actually 11 miles down the road from the campground. It looked great in the pictures--creek waterfront!--and it would hold all of us. Price wasn't bad...not cheap, but you really wouldn't expect that, right? A pleasant 4 hour drive from Pittsburgh, and we arrived around 5pm. Right away, I was glad we'd chosen the cottage rather than the campground proper. I had the impression from the website that the cabins there were quite far apart, but they aren't, so much. So, the cottage was actually a mobile home, and we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. We had some trouble locating the breaker box to get the A/C on (a little note left somewhere would have been helpful), but we found it and the whole place cooled off quickly. We discovered a back bedroom with a queen bed, 2 bedrooms each with bunk beds--full on the bottom, twin on top--, and a pull-out queen sofa bed in a lovely enclosed sunroom, which I decided to take, and leave the better bed for my nephew and his wife. Turned out I got the better deal, as the bed's mattress was hard as a rock and they both woke up with daily backaches. Okay, I'll shorten this up as it's becoming a novel. Restaurant across from the campground (and affiliated with it) had good food and an...interesting atmosphere of tons of taxidermist animals. The little general store next door was great, and provided us with souvenirs. Also there is a separate game room, which was great for the kids when it rained. We loved the pool at the campground, too. The cottage had a grill which we utilized one night, and the kitchen was well supplied for us to cook, too. Others had left behind some grocery items, and we did the same when we left. Now... The REALLY important stuff... There was a huge front yard, which my pit bull loved, and so did the boys as there were trees to climb. There was a nice front porch with a glider, rockers and chairs. Sitting out there with morning coffee and an evening drink was wonderfully relaxing. And oh, the back yard! A fire pit which we used both for ambience and S'Mores (of course!). The yard sloped down directly to the most idyllic creek I've ever seen! Wide and absolutely perfectly clear all the way across! You can see every single stone in there. Everyone but me tried some fishing, although only my nephew caught (and released) some fish. The sound of that creek on the property was just delightful, by the way, and we all ( except Sullen Teenager) loved it so much that we actually stayed 2 extra days! Be aware, though, there is no house phone, no cell service and no WIFI (which made S. T. even MORE sullen, if that was even possible). The adults decided to be charmed about the lack of communication, and we actually ended up enjoying it. So...bottom line, we enjoyed our time at Happy Acres TREMENDOUSLY, and we figure on returning, so yeah, we really recommend it!! read more

We will not ever go back to Happy Acres, ever! We rented one of their "cabins" which is a 1970's single wide trailer that has never been updated. Every faucet pulled out of the wall or sinks, the bathroom floor original vinyl was buckled in front of the sink, the front enclosed porch was extremely musty and there was mold on the floor and walls, the bedroom carpets were all very heavily stained, the bedroom wall in the corner was "repaired" with packing tape and duct tape from what looked like a water leak coming through from the roof, and the oven was home to mice so whenever we tried to cook something - the smell of cooking, burnt mice stuck in the insulation of the stove not only stunk up the entire trailer but ruined our meal. We stayed there for a few days and couldn't wait to leave! Talking to some of the local people in town and none of them had anything nice to say about the place and some told us horror stories of other's experiences. The restaurant on the property was totally overpriced and the food tasted microwaved. The pool was very small for the size of the "resort" and visibly in need of repair. If I could give this place no stars...I would. Overall, I really couldn't find anything we liked about the place. read more
