When I looked up this place I was getting nervous by looking at the 1 star and 2 star reviews, THEY IMPROVED. They seemed to fix almost every complaint, the staff was very friendly and always asking if we needed anything. We were given coke and water in pitchers. The penne vodka was what u would expect, very good and good flavor. The potatoes were not the best, the salad had close to no dressing but the goat cheese was good. The eggplant needed to be better, the breadcrumbs that were used needed to be seasoned. The roast beef was very good. Everything was at a very good temp! The chicken franchise felllllll apart, typically it's very gooey but they made it very good. The mushroom and gravy meat had a very distinct mushroom taste and I got sick of it continuing to eat it, 5/10. read more

This review is based on a Sunday baby shower brunch experience. Although no valet, there was sufficient parking near the main entrance. The shower was located downstairs. So lovely!!! Upon entrance a table with our seating cards was easily visible. Towards the left wall was a table for a diaper raffle and chocolate guessing game. The mom to be had about 3 long tables near the back wall full of gifts. This actually made opening gifts easier as everything was not piled on top of one another and easy for guests to see it all. With about 80 guests this room was still spacious. The bartender was great serving everyone drinks. I opted for the usual brunch drink, mimosa. For the buffet they had your usual breakfast and lunch options. Waiters were all attentive cleaning up each table. This was definitely a location I plan to bookmark for any upcoming events. read more

Wedding review! Loved everything about this venue. It came recommended from a family friend and I'm so glad it did. My wedding took place in August and my friends and family are still raving about the food! It was truly spectacular and I wish I could be a guest at a wedding there to enjoy it all over again. First we met with Angelo who was super helpful with the booking process and understanding of the menus. Then We met with John and spoke with him regarding any questions pertaining to the wedding. He was so sweet and very informative never made me feel like I was bothering him. (He even gave recs for our honeymoon!) Lastly the man who made our wedding day all that it could be an more was Steve. WOW. Talk about amazing customer service. He was my right hand the entire wedding day. We did get ready in the bridal suite and he periodically checked in on us bringing platters and drinks. He even took my husband and I down to the reception room before letting people in so we could see how it was set up and I immediately was blown away. It was done better than I could have ever imagined. Our day was perfect. The staff who worked our event were amazing and attentive. We had a few guest with dietary restrictions and they all said the staff did phenomenal making sure their meals were made correctly. I high recommend having your wedding here. The atrium was gorgeous for getting married in and the reception was phenomenal. The food exceeded all expectations from cocktail hour to sit down dinner to the desserts was spectacular. read more

We just had our daughter's wedding at the Hanover Manor. Absolutely the best wedding I have ever been to. Steve and John helped my wife arrange everything since my daughter and her the fiancé moved to NC. It went off perfect without a hitch. They accommodated everything and solved every issue beforehand. We really can't thank the Hanover Manor enough for our big day - it was incredible! We were really on a budget, and we picked the Hanover Manor since it was VERY affordable. We didn't expect much, since the recommendations from our friends are "they'll take care of stuff but it's not fancy". As our wedding day went on, we realized the only thing "not fancy" about the Hanover Manor is probably the exterior. It definitely felt a LOT more expensive than we imagined. We had our ceremony upstairs in the Embassy Room, and our reception downstairs in the Gold Room. The cocktail hour had so much delicious foods that a lot of our guests thought it was the actual buffet. We had some special requests for the buffet and it was honored to the last word. The bartender remembered all of our guests' drink orders! Tons of stuff included with the low package price: cocktail hour, buffet, open bar, a BEAUTIFUL 3-tiered cake, spacious bridal suite for getting dressed and ready, color-coordinated linens, chair covers, fresh flowers and lit candles for the tables, champagne toast, even a white runner for the ceremony. Color us impressed! The only downside is the little outside "garden" area. It was pretty and clean, just a bit on the small side so we couldn't get any wide pictures from it. We did find a simple solution - just go across the street to Lurker Park for pictures. There's a lush, wide-open grassy area that's on a small incline with lots of huge trees in the background, even the entrance to a hiking trail. Our photographer loved it and we ended up with some wonderful pictures. All in all.... Hanover Manor made our big day extra special. John and Angelo helped us with everything we needed, all of their staff was amazingly attentive, organized, and prompt. 5 stars! read more

I have been to the Hanover Manor now at least six times, mostly for banquet events for my daughter's high school and I've never had a bad experience. It's the staff always 100% excellent, no, but they are pretty damn solid. I e also never had a super fancy meal here, but what I HAVE had is consistently good dinners with simple, yet tasty desserts. I know a couple people who had wedding receptions here And in told they went overboard trying to accommodate the bride (maybe the groom too, but we all know it's really only about the bride). Anyway, for a big banquet facility I really don't have any issues with the Hanover Manor. Prices seem to be decent, decor isn't old and dated, place was very clean, staff is pretty friendly, parking is easy and plentiful, and the food has been good every time I've been here. Ok reception hall, a bit dated and undergoing some renovation. There's no elevator to get to the downstairs rooms, which puts a crimp in planning when you have elderly or the disabled on your guest list. Food is ok at best. I ordered my prime rib rare and it was dry. I wasn't impressed with that. My table felt like we were getting the bum's rush at the last event we attended. Cocktails at 6:30, we were seated at 7 but out by 9. Portions were good and service was all right, but it's not spectacular. Our servers were nice enough and the space is open and roomy, we were in the embassy room to the left when you come in the front... even though I do think the room is a bit dated at this point, the bathrooms are gorgeous and spotless which is a plus. Another plus was the bread which is definitely from Sorrentos, seriously the best bread ever. I was excited for that. Then we start with a salad which was nothing special. After the salad the buffet opened. There was penne vodka (which was the highlight of the food that night, other than the bread), chicken francese (swimming in sauce and not that great), eggplant rollantini (yuck), sausage and peppers (pretty good), potatoes and green beans. The food was just okay which was surprising because I feel like I've liked it a lot better in the past. The dessert was good, vanilla and hazelnut (I think) cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which tasted like nasto's ice cream--so good. I will probably be back here again and I would be happy with just the penne vodka. :) read more

Came here for a repass today. Food was good but the bartender dissappeared for extended periods of time (like 75% of the time). When the bartender was there she was very rude. One of the attendees finally went behind the bar and got a beer at which tine she got a tongue lashing by one of the staff. Stay away and book your party somewhere else. read more

My family and I booked the Manor for the repass after my mother's funeral. We booked the golden room for 12:00 to 3:00 pm. The food was good but the service was rushed. There was no bartender for most of the time and we were told the only beer we had to choose from was what was left over from the party the night before. The bartender was very rude. When my friend asked what kind of beer they had she scowled at him and began to slowly pull beers out of the ice rather than just telling him what they had. After we complained they were extra rude to us. Don't bother booking at this place. There is plenty of competition that hires good people read more

If I was rating solely on appearance and food, this would be a 3 1/2 or 4 star review. The salads, buffet, and dessert we were served on Saturday were all well done and satisfying. The venue is a little dated but holds up well over time (other than the door with the smashed glass, but I'm assuming that will be replaced shortly?). The reason this is a 2-star review is because of our experience with one particular server. I was at a bereavement party on Saturday (3/12/16). They had estimated 50+ people but closer to 100 showed up. I was standing with the son of the deceased, his fiancee, and a friend of theirs. We were looking for a table and finding that most tables were completely full or only had one or two open seats. We sat at one of the tables that hadn't been set yet (it had a blue tablecloth as opposed to the white tablecloths of the set tables). We had a waiter come up to us and tell us angrily that they weren't going to make up any more tables just because we wanted to sit someone else, and that we needed to sit where seats were available. We had to split up our group (three of us sat with the wife of the deceased and some of her friends, and the other friend literally sat at the "kids table" with a bunch of kids under the age of 14). Funny enough, about 10 minutes later I saw that same waiter and another waiter making up TWO MORE TABLES because, lo and behold, they realized they had more people than available seats. There was no apology and the waiter didn't seek us out to re-seat us so we could be together. I was upset at the way he spoke to us. At a bereavement party, you don't know if you're talking to the son/wife/father/etc of the deceased, so there is no excuse for snapping at someone, especially when it's the person who is footing the bill. read more

On a last minute whim, we decided to have a 1st birthday party for my daughter. We had never been to Hanover Manor but heard good things from others and live pretty close so decided to check it out. So glad we did! I can't say enough about the responsiveness and attentiveness of John and Angelo. We had about 125 guests. And the pricing was so reasonable especially for the all-inclusive package they offer. You don't need to worry about anything! When I walked into the Crystal Room on the day of our party, I was blown away at how beautiful it looked! Everything I asked for was done, the service was excellent. And Jose our maitre'd took excellent care of us and our guests (especially those needing specific dietary meals). Everyone is still raving about the party, the room and food! So happy we went with the Hanover Manor. So many people (including our vendors) said, "Wow! I've driven by here but just hadn't been to an event and never knew how beautiful it is inside. I'll have to come back!" :) And we will be back for sure! read more

I have to give credit where credit is due -- if it were not for the staff, the Hanover Manor would be receiving 2 stars. However, because of the attentiveness of the staff and their willingness to please, the Hanover Manor gets three stars. The staff will bend over backwards to accommodate you. And they do not chintz on the alcohol in their drinks. The Hanover Manor is reasonably priced; however, the food is mediocre at best for either sit-down or buffet. The shrimp are obviously frozen and not cooked fresh and the menus could use some variety. They do not try to hide the fact that the mashed potatoes are of the instant variety either. They have five rooms from which to choose (more of they split rooms), but if you get the downstairs room, be prepared for a steep flight of steps. The rooms (as well as the entire facility) are all immaculate and tastefully decorated and the facility has ample rest rooms so you never have to walk very far to use a rest room. They are very reasonably priced, which is why I think the food quality is sacrificed somewhat. A good deal for the money. read more

This place has some of the best memories I have of New Jersey/my family/my friends. When celebrating any big event, Hanover Manor is the first venue to come up. My parent's 25th wedding anniversary, my sweet 16 cotillion, my mother's retirement party, and recently my friend's baby shower (I'm the godmommy) have all been celebrated here. I've also attended countless wedding receptions, birthdays, graduations, and other parties through the years. First off, the staff is wonderful. The owner(s?) are always SO friendly to my mother and other people that have dealt with them. The buffet food is fantastic and really dependable. It hasn't changed much through the years variety-wise, but the taste. Still so good. Sadly, I'm usually involved in the parties here, so I always miss the ice cream (neopolitan squares)/cake they usually give out. SAD! For prices/plans/and buffet food items check the website. I'm not too thrilled with the outdoor makeover (with that big HM on the roof entrance), but otherwise I love the different rooms and the general decor. My favorite is the Crystal Room, which can actually be expanded depending on the amount of guests you have. During my cotillion, they allowed us to use both the Crystal room and the bottom room for rehearsal, which was awesome. The side garden they have for pictures is lovely. I actually have a pic of it (from my cotillion) in my profile. Top memory probably has to be.. hands down.. when I got "drunk" on Shirley Temples. I got SO many during my parent's anniversary, I started sending up other people to get them for me. Oh to be 10 and drunk on life and sprite. Plenty of parking and really close to Parsippany, Whippany, Livingston, and 280. Now that Wayne Manor is gone, I'm pretty sure HM is getting a lot of their business, but I just had to write about my incredible experiences with this venue. Love them! read more

Been here for 2 weddings and a retirement dinner. There are many different rooms for parties and I have seen them take down the wall to go from one part of the party to the other. The food is fine, I think they specialize in the buffet type of meal, nothing to write home about. The decor is kind of dated, but they are pretty flexible with sound equipment etc. Another random though, the mens bathroom is odd. I will leave it at that. Would I have a party here? Probably not. Would it keep me from RSVPing? No. Does the fact that I even considered that make me pretentious? Probably. read more

Went to the Hanover Manor for a wedding last night. Absolutely terrible. The food at the cocktail hour was bland and not seasoned at all. Thank god for the sliced deli meats and cheese. It was an open bar and the drinks barely had any alcohol in them. Dinner was served and everyone at our table looked confused. Some guests at our table ordered chicken francaise and it was chicken in a lemon butter sauce and it was not seasoned at all. The color of the sauce looked like the color of a Mountain Dew. I order the roast beef which came out raw and I order it medium well. My sister order the chickens francaise and it was still pink. I had to get up and find a waitress since no one came around. I told the waitress and she took out plates and came back 2 minutes later after she microwaved our dinners. I again told her to take the meals back and then one of the other waitresses brought out new plates and assured me they didn't use microwaves in their kitchen. I pointed out the piece of chicken my sister had cut prior to them taking the dish back and her response quickly changed. When I tasted my meal it was bland. They put out one roll per person and in a small plate put the same amount of butter slices. Empty plates and glasses stayed on our table forever. No one ever came around to see if anyone needed anything or if their meals were okay. My husband removed quite a few glasses and plates off our table so we could all have room. The dessert were okay, nothing to brag about. The espresso was gritty and bitter. The cappuccino was blah to say the least. There were coffee cups at all the tables but no one came around to even ask if anyone wanted regular coffee. I would definitely not recommend the Hanover Manor to anyone at all. From the very beginning of my daughter's 18th Debut planning late last year to her event date last Friday June 22, Angelo, John & Steve were just wonderful, forthright and just amazing group. Made my planning easier and at ease at the time of the party. I cant thank them all including the waiters, the waitresses the bartenders. Food was amazing even from my guest who are critics. No one behind the bar. Was reprimanded by staff for getting our own beers. Staff totally disappeared and hour before room reservation was up. Staff was inattentive and rude. Sad! Well for starters, the owner did not appear to be very gay friendly, so if you're looking for a wedding venue that supports same sex marriage, this certainly isnt it. My fiance and I were not greeted warmly and he was not personable one bit. He walked far ahead of us during the tour and rushed right through it. The bridal sweet was a complete mess and the odor was not pleasant; mind you, my fiance's family (Who is Greek like him) has booked numerous occasions at this venue (which he was very well aware of) so we were expecting better hospitality. I went to a Tricky Tray there on April 24, 2014. The parking lot was organized and easy to navigate. The staff were all polite and efficient. The room was pretty. When you entered the venue, servers offered you 3 choices of entree: salmon, chicken piccata, or eggplant parm. The table was set nicely and the bread was fresh. The salad was fresh and came with a choice of two dressings. The pasta was average. I chose the chicken piccata entree and it was delicious, although the sauce was a bit too generous and came off as soupy. Everyone else at my table had the salmon. It looked fresh and was a very generous portion. Everyone raved about it! The eggplant parm serving was also large. The entrees were accompanied by roasted potatoes and string beans almondine. Both were average. The dessert was a chocolate ice cream roll cake. It, too, was average. The table service was very efficient and thorough. read more

Was here for my cousin's wedding. Huge party and looked like the staff wasn't coping well with service. Food was ok, just ok. It was a hit or miss. The main course I chose was was salmon. Not sure how you could mess up a salmon but everyone I spoke to that night who had salmon didn't like it. They just baked the salmon and threw in some hollandaise sauce and called it a night. No good. They also missed half of our table when serving salad. Forget about getting coffee. If you missed the coffee served at the table, you have to wait 20 minutes to get some. One of the older bartender clearly wasn't happy to be there or he just hates his job. He was throwing glasses on the bar and overfilling some of our drinks. What a sad old man. The rest of the party went well though despite having more than 400 guests. I'd probably have my events held somewhere else. read more

We had our wedding at the Hanover Manor 6/26/15. The food was excellent, plenty of it. My complaints are, the Mait re d, don't know if I spelled that right, Wasn't on time for our procession. I organized it. my second complaint: Our wedding cake. when we ordered our cake we ordered 2 different flavors, so our guests could choose. I explained this to the staff and yet one side of the room got one flavor and the other a different. guests were un happy because I told them they would have a choice. Secondly about the cake. They served everyone very small pieces with a sliver of ice cream. We were never told ice cream would be served with our cake. kind of tacky. I am also wondering what happened to the rest of the cake that was not served, the portions were so small there is no doubt there was left over. read more
