Long review ahead (TL;DR: We do NOT recommend Hannah's Mastertek because Mike, the owner, has terrible communication and caused just as many problems as he fixed.) On Wed 9/11, our car broke down and we had it towed to Hannah's Mastertek because it's the closest auto/body shop to us. Mike, the owner, didn't call us when it arrived. I think the car must've arrived at the shop not too far off from closing time, but I still think the professional thing to do would've been to let us know that the car got there okay. On Thu 9/12 we flew out of town, and my husband was playing phone tag with Mike all day. On Fri 9/13 my husband finally got ahold of Mike, who told him we needed a new engine. We gave Mike the go-ahead to start that process later in the day. They're closed on weekends (strange for an auto/body shop), so we didn't get to talk to Mike again until Mon 9/15 upon our return. He told my husband that the replacement engine should come by Thu 9/18. That week, things seemed to be fine. My husband went out of town, but I stayed home. On Tue 9/23 I started playing phone tag with Mike, and when I eventually reached him, he said it could be ready that evening or the next day. I requested to have the car fixed by that evening because I would be going out of town again the next day and still needed to drop off our pet at the pet hotel. Later that day, he called saying it wouldn't be ready until the next day, but that he would come in at 7am and have it ready by 8. On Wed 9/24 I called Mike around 9am and had to call again around 10 to actually reach him, and he said he needed more time. It sounded like it would be ready by the time I needed to leave, and I left the house around 10:50 to physically check on the car. At 11:00 when I walked in, he said the car was not ready. I let him know that I needed to leave within the next 15 minutes and when he said he needed more time, I reminded him that he's the one who said it would be ready. He did not apologize. I asked if he had a rental car, and he said that he did, but it had no plates. After a few mins as I frantically looked for a rental myself, he offered me his truck instead. I had left him know that it would be about a 45 minute drive out to the pet hotel, but 3 minutes before I arrived, he called asking if I was on my way back. He said the car was ready (go figure), but after we hung up, I decided I wouldn't have enough time to get the car and drop it off at home before my flight. I called him back a little later to say that I'd need to leave the car at the shop and my husband would pick it up when he came back. He cut me off right away to tell me again that the car was ready and I had to talk over him to tell him the new plan. He said that was fine, but apparently while I was in the air, Mike called my husband to tell him the car was ready to be picked up. The man doesn't listen! On Mon 9/30 when my husband went to pick up the car, Mike admitted that the replacement engine didn't actually come until Mon 9/22, which would explain the delay. Mike refused to negotiate the cost with us. The same day, my husband had to buy a replacement battery, and after installing it, the "Check Charging System" light was still on, even though it should have reset right away. Mike had told my husband that he tested the electrical and that everything was fine, but clearly, it's not. As of today, not only that "Check Charging System" light still on, the "Check Engine" light comes on, the "Tire Pressure Sensor" isn't working, and part of the car's electronic display turns off randomly while driving. 0/10 do not recommend because Mike wasn't communicative and honest with us, rushed around and caused more issues, and now, we have to go spend extra money to fix his mistakes somewhere else. read more

I recently sold my auto repair shop that I owned for 29 years and retired. My son lives and works in Denver and I live in Idaho. This information should make you very suspicious about doing business with Mike Hannah the owner of Hannah's Mastertek Automotive Service. My son was driving his car on a Friday afternoon, a few moments after pulling away from a stop he told me his car quit pulling and the engine just revved. He was able to coast into an apartment complex and into a parking spot. After setting the brake, he told me he ran shifter through P, R and D, with no engagement. He shut off the engine, the car would not re-start. He said he could just hear the starter making noise and the engine not cranking. My son had Hannah's do some minor work to his car once and they were close by so I called Mike Hannah the owner to discuss the issue with my son's car. I had a hunch the flex plate was broke off of the crank shaft. That was why the starter would not engage the engine. I told Mike my thoughts. Mike invited me to have the car towed to his shop, they would diagnose the issue and give me an estimate for $180. The car is a 05 Honda Accord 2.4l engine and auto trans. The car was towed to Hannah's the next Tuesday. Mike called late the following Friday afternoon. He told me his tech had diagnosed the problem as a broken timing chain. I was speechless. I questioned him on his procedure and he told me his tech removed the valve cover and engaged the starter cranking over the engine and he could see that the cam was not turning. I asked him if the crankshaft pully was turning and he said, yes. He said when his technician cranked the engine with the starter, the crank shaft pully was turning. He said the engine was spinning fast with no compression. Mike said, that sound was what my son heard. Mike said the engine in the car is an interference engine and was now junk. Mike said he could get me a used engine for $2200.00 plus labor. We agreed the car was not worth putting a used engine in it. I asked him what his diagnostic fee was, he said $180. We discussed trading the car to him in leu of the $180 fee and he would dispose of it for me. I told Mike I would discuss this with my son and get back to him on Monday. That evening I was distraught with angst and frustration. My son told me and I verified with him that the car was running after he coasted to a stop at the apartment complex. My son has raced cars since he was 15 and has been around cars his whole life. I believed my son, and I was still on the page that the flex plate was broken. Mike either lied to me or he didn't verify his technicians' word and work. I called Mike Monday morning and asked him this direct question. Did you personally see the crankshaft pully turning while your technician was cranking over the engine? He said, "Yes." I then asked him that when my son got there that afternoon to take care of the diagnostic fee, if he could engage the starter while my son was looking under the hood to see that the crank shaft pully was turning. He said, sure, I can do that for you. I told him that my son would be there later that afternoon and hung up. TEN minutes later I get a call from Mike Hannah, he was harsh and in a hurry. He told me to get my son's car off of his property. I tried to ask him why but couldn't get a word in. Mike said again that the car needed to be taken away and mumbled something about it being worth $500 running. He then said. "Take it to a different shop if you want to but get it out of here as soon as possible." He hung up on me. I called back 40 minutes later and Mike answered. He was calmed down and let me speak. I asked him what we owed him and he said, "nothing." I told him I would have the car towed out of there later that afternoon. He said, "OK", and that was it. I had the car towed to Point S Auto in Aurora. They listened to me, and their guy did the proper diagnostic work and verified what I thought was the issue all along. The flexplate was broken. I now have used Hannahs Auto tech 4 times for Engine issues , Brakes and recently Transmission overhaul. Can't say enough about the work quality and also the professional attitude in treating us , their costomers. Clean, honest, quality work. I took my vehicle in after the clutch seemed like it was going out. Instead of charging me for new hydraulics or diagnosing an expensive clutch plate replacement they checked out the problem. Turns out it there were just bubbles in the clutch hydraulic line, they adjusted it and repaired it quickly. Least cost alternative to the problems I was experiencing and a good test of an honest mechanic. "yep, just needed adjustment, thanks for your business". Will return to this shop. read more

As a female, its not out of the ordinary for someone at an automotive service center to attempt to take advantage of the fact that I'm female and may not have an understanding of all things automotive. This isn't something that will ever happen at Hannah's. Not only do they take the time to thoroughly inspect your vehicle, but they'll also explain anything you don't understand. I wanted to like Werners because my current auto mechanic is very far away, so I gave them a chance since I only live about one mile away. I took my van in for an estimate. They wanted $52 for an estimate, although that would apply to the total cost if I had them do the work. They wanted me to come in at 9:00, and said the estimate would take about an hour. The mechanic did not show up that day because it was snowing. So 24 hours later I called them up to see what was up. When they finally got the estimate ready they said the water pump was going bad, and gave me a repair estimate of $615. That seemed expensive, especially when I googled the water pump and saw that the actual part could be bought from anywhere between $67 and $120. So in the end I drove across Denver to my trusty mechanic who did the same repair for $175. Bottom line is that I think they know what they are doing and are very friendly, but they are expensive. read more

I am a single mom, who doesn't know much about auto repair. I have been using Werner's Mastertek for 5 yrs now for service on my last 2 cars ( 1999 Audi A-6 and now 2005 Audi A-6) and for my teen aged daughter's Audi A-4 for everything from scheduled maintenance services to a timing belt replacement. They have always taken the time to explain what they have found and what they recommend in simple terms that I understand. Their new Service Advisor, Adam, is fantastic and friendly and very patient. These guys have hit bottom since the previous owner left. The last three times I've gone there (and the last time ever) they managed to: not tighten the drain oil plug resulting in a return trip, not top off the coolant during a winter checkup, break the bar that holds the hood up, and finally they dropped something on the hood and caused a big dent. Naturally they denied this but, well...not sure why I kept returning, but I didn't know Werner had sold and figured to give them a break. No more, I'm done with these guys. read more

I took my car in for the FREE check engine light scan. Mike lied to me and told me that I had a blown head gasket and a misfiring solenoid amongst a myriad of other issues. I was quoted almost $2,000 for the repairs, but told them not to touch the car, as it wasn't running poorly before I brought it in, and it seemed hard to believe that I had a problem as severe as a blown head gasket. I picked it up and the car ran worse than it ever had. It shook uncontrollably, and was making a very loud popping noise I had never heard before. I took my car to a trusted mechanic the next day to find out Mike and his crew had loosened spark plug boots, and not connected others properly, (hence the loud popping noise; why he was even under the hood when I asked for a simple "check engine" scan is still a mystery to me) in an attempt to get me to let them replace my allegedly blown head gasket. After a full diagnostic scan by a different mechanic, it was determined that all I needed was a tune up, and that Mike Hannah had tried to sabotage my vehicle in an attempt to make me pay for an unnecessary repair. DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE, THEY WILL TRY TO SCREW YOU. read more

to be a little more clear on that last review, there were more parts needed for the repair than they originally thought. they still charged me an additional $100 over the original estimate and additional parts, even after they told me there would be no additional charge for labor. they did repair my water pump, but in the process they triggered the anti theft lock system rendering the car motionless. the dealership was able to unlock the system at no charge. I think this was just a case of Hannah's mastertek biting off more than they could chew (my regular mechanic refused the job). all in all I think these are good guys, they did do the repair at a fair price. I think they just need to refine there system and know when to say no. read more
