Before the Fuel AdvantEDGE program where you can save on gas at Sunoco, Price Chopper was the home of promotions where you could earn stamps for free towels or cookware. Today, of course, the world is more complicated with Walmart selling groceries, discount chains like Aldi, and even home delivery options. Through all of that, though, I have to say that I get drawn in by the deals at Price Chopper. Beyond their approach to pricing, I have always encouraged friendly, knowledgeable staff. I will say that when you are looking for niche products, such as Lundburg brand rice, vegan Annie's shells, raw cashews, and Worcestershire sauce without anchovies, that Price Chopper has came up short and I've had to drive over to Hannaford. Likewise, their switch from 24 hours to 6am-Midnight a couple years back now means that Walmart is the only option for late night groceries. Still, I know that I can get good grocery deals by shopping the Price Chopper circular and that's what keeps me coming back week after week.

It appears we interrupted this extremely older lady with short hair that was on her cell phone texting and then shot daggers through my Dad and I. I try and make pleasant small talk about the horrible hail/snowstorm that was going on and she angrily said there's no use complaining about it with a real angry face. At the end of the transaction, as my Dad was paying with a credit card, he wanted to know if he could get a $20 bill and she outright refused in a very rude way that she could not open her drawer and she then angrily told us to go to customer service. We then go to customer service manned by two young kids/teenagers and they said they're not supposed to make change, so we mentioned what the angry old decrepit woman said. I then got some satisfaction by saying she was on her smartphone and was just an angry old woman who the Easter Bunny must have not been nice to...and maybe taking it out on customers because she had to work Easter Sunday...um, not my fault And for the kicker, the teenagers knew exactly who I was talking about!

The layout is pretty different than ones I am used to and I get confused sometimes. Standard annoying number of cashiers, but also a self checkout line (my favorite). The huge downfall here is the disgrace of a parking lot. Whoever the hell designed that lot needs to be fired. I didn't know a poorly designed parking lot could irritate me to the point that it does, but i really don't enjoy coming here because of it. But, its still walmart, and it has everything you need, and at a great price.

A deli counter with no actual visible deli in it was open, and in addition to 12 foot sub sandwiches, they also had sammies for the individual. I was craving the egg salad...but alas they were out, so i settled for the ham salad. Yes....ham salad. Cubed ham tossed with mayo and you know what? It was great. Great the next day too! You may walk in here thinking you won't find what you want....but i think you just gotta know where to find it. With some Wise potato chips and Vitamin Waters we were set and good to go back the block which we came....all for a mere $10. I keep talking about the bargains I'm getting out here in Upstate New York. Shit may be cheap....but to be fair...its still upstate New York...I'll hang onto the SF prices a bit longer.
