The sales person after discussing all the options recommended before I replace the unit, to have it evaluated. Kyle from Samson and Sons came out and performed a mirid of tests both electrical and mechanical including pressure testing. He found a couple of corroded wires which he replaced at no additional charge and also made sure that the evaporator condensate drain line was clear and flowing properly. In the end he recommended that we not replace the unit as it was running well within manufacturers specifications. He recommended that we run it until it dies. As a company who is in the business of selling new HVAC systems they had every motivation to recommend a replacement but did not. When my unit does die, I will only purchase its replacement from Samson and Sons!

We contacted them and they were prompt to send a service tech out to look over the issue. After the assessment, replacing the shower body (valve and cartridge) was necessary. Plus having to cut into either the tile and/or the drywall to get to the pipes, would be an additional cost with their contractor between $200-400. Because we thought we could replace the shower/tub set fixtures and cartridge ourselves, we bought the entire kit at Home Depot for the fraction of the cost they wanted to charge us for the set. Picture Rocks told us they would start the repair that morning and would have to come back that following Monday to complete the repair. Their estimated price was $1650 without the contractor's price. However, they were giving us credit for the set we purchased but they couldn't warranty it only their labor which was understandable. I called a family member who is a licensed HVAC and Plumbing company owner in Phoenix. To make sure we were getting a fair cost, he told us they were charging us way too much to replace and install the entire shower body. His company charges for that type of installation up to $800 with no issues. He was taken back by the estimate and told us to find another company. Needless to say, we found a fair, licensed and knowledgeable Plumber here on Yelp. We waited on his estimate and to our surprise, his price was significantly lower and in the same range of what our family member stated. Minus the dry wall repair, which we can do ourselves due to being a small square cut out and the price was fair. Therefore, due diligence is necessary in getting a fair price, even on a holiday weekend (Easter). Don't go with the first recommendation, in a long run, this will save you money.

They are not a big name company and that is a good thing. Recently I used them to service my AC. They showed up, on time I may add, and the technician was incredibly friendly. He walked me through exactly everything he was doing to service my AC. If there was something that needed to be addressed he let me know. If it didn't, he also let me know. Alex responded the same day we called. He was most professional and courteous. He took the time to explain ever aspect of our unit and once finished with his diagnosis he explained his findings and laid out our options for repair. Alex explained that the company has served Tucson for some 30 years. Luckily the problem was a simple fix, a faulty capacitor which he quickly replaced and tested the unit. Alex inspected all components of the unit. He could of easily charged us more or as in many cases found other issues. It is without hesitation I highly recommend the company and Alex as well.

On a semiannual…read moreinspection on 6/17/26 we were told that our 9 year old split units both had coil problems and repairs would exceed $13,000. Upon checking we discovered that this long time, local company had been sold to a national company/fund which acquires and then operates smaller local companies. We decided to obtain a second quote and Daniel from Hamstra spent 3 hours checking the systems and concluded it was in good working condition. We just signed up for a service plan with Hamstra and will be using them in the future. In our opinion the consumer needs to beware of upselling and if you question a quote obtain a second opinion.
